Technical Service Information Bulletin Date: June 14, 2021 Bulletin Name: FDM-TSIB-025 Model: Oshkosh S-Series Units Affected: 2.0 Front Discharge Mixers 2.0 Water Tank Mounting Feet Purpose: This bulletin provides instructions for bolting the water tank mounting feet to the water tank if the bonded feet become loose. Notice: • This bulletin should be read and understood in its entirety. • All procedures outlined in the bulletin must be performed by skilled service personnel. Refer to the product service manual for descriptions of maintenance procedures. SAFETY NOTICE Perform your company’s Lockout/Tagout procedure. If your company does not have a Lockout/Tagout procedure, follow OSHA 1910.147 and 1910.146 Confined Space as appropriate. SAFETY NOTICE Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by your company. Tools and Equipment Required: Customer to supply: • • • • Drill Drill Bits Silicone Sealant Hand Tools Parts Required (per mounting foot): Item Part Number Description 1 A000B408 SCR, CAP, HEX, SS 0.50-13 X 1.50 IN. 2 2 A000V959 WASHER, NEOPRENE BACKED SS, 0.50 IN. 2 3 A000U214 WASHER, FLT SS, 0.50 IN. 2 4 A000B539 NUT, HEX, LKNY SS, 0.50 IN. 2 1 Qty. Procedure: Lockout/Tagout 1. Place unit on a flat surface, block truck tires, and perform your company’s Lockout/Tagout procedure. If your company does not have a Lockout/Tagout procedure, follow OSHA 1910.147 and 1910.146 Confined Space as appropriate. 2. The vehicle’s BATTERY DISCONNECT switch is located on the left-hand side of the battery box. Use the battery disconnect switch when performing any maintenance so the vehicle cannot accidentally be started. a. Turn the battery disconnect switch (Figure A, Item 1) counterclockwise so the hole on the switch aligns with the hole in the bracket (Figure A, Item 2). b. Install the safety lockout device ring (Figure B, Item 1) through the holes on the battery disconnect switch and the bracket. c. Install a padlock (Figure B, Item 2) onto the safety lockout device ring, lock it, and put the key in your pocket. Open ball valves on the left-hand bottom of the water tank to drain the water tank, see Figure 1. Figure 1 Drain Valves 2 4. Position and hold mounting foot on water tank as close as possible to where mounting foot was bonded. NOTE Apply a coating of grease to drill bits before drilling mounting holes to minimize shavings that may enter the water tank. 5. Drill two holes through the mounting foot and water tank in the locations shown in Figure 2. Drill a pilot hole first using a small drill bit. Final hole size to be 0.531 in. Hole Locations Figure 2 6. Clean the mounting foot backing plate surface and area on outside of water tank where mounting foot will be installed. 7. Paint or use Tef-Gel® on water tank and mounting foot backing plate surfaces to prevent corrosion. 8. Apply a coating of sealant to the underside of the two cap screw (A000B408) heads, see Figure 3. 9. Install neoprene backed washer (A000V959) on each cap screw, see Figure 3. 10. Install cap screws from the inside of water tank, see Figure 3. 11. Install mounting foot onto the cap screws, see Figure 3. 12. Install flat washers (A000U214) onto cap screws, see Figure 3. 13. Apply anti-seize to threads of the cap screw. 14. Install lock nuts (A000B539) onto cap screws, see Figure 3. 3 15. Final tighten mounting hardware to 25 ft lbs. Close the ball valves on the left-hand bottom of the water tank. 18. Remove lockout/tagout.
