After starting the vehicle remotely, the CEL is on and U012600 Communication with the steering column module has
a malfunction, but no drivability issues is present

Remedy
1. Check connection and wires to the steering column module
2. Please check connection to the VGS
3. Please check the condition of the battery
4. Please ensure the CEL came on after using remote start. Only if remote start was used, this LI applies.
5. Ensure the vehicle has Program Status 15 b or 16 a . This information can be found in the VGS control unit log.
See attached picture for guidance.
6. Delete the Mercedes me App and reinstall the Mercedes me App
7. Please start the vehicle remotely and check if the doors make a locking sound before the engine starts
8. If the CEL does not return afterwards, then please release the vehicle.
