Customer statement / workshop findings
Water drips from the front interior light. The water drips directly from the electric drive of the front sun roof motor.
Technical background
A water drop can get onto the guide rail instead of the water flow area of the guide rail. The water runs forwards to the guide tube of the
operating cable and from there onto the electric drive.
Production change
Change of the foam pad and its bonding, the change is in preparation.
Measure
Note: The following repair instructions must be carried out on the left and right hand side of the guide rail.
Remedy - Manually attach 2 adhesive beads to the guide rail.
1) Completely open the front glass panel
TIP: Ensure the area in which the sealant is to be applied is clean and dry also ensure any other affected components are dry and not damaged,
should any issues be evident a new DISS query should be raised or the existing query should be updated ensuring all findings are clearly
identified and reported
•
Remove the inner sound insulation to make the cartridge easier to access/move
•
Pull the external seal with adhesive tape back (Figure 1) and press the wind deflector down. This can also be held in the lower position with
adhesive tape.
Figure 1
2) Figures 2 (red lines) and 3 show the areas in which the adhesive beads have to be applied.

Figure 3
The marked areas (red lines shown in Figure 2) have to be carefully cleaned with isopropyl D 009.401.04.
3) Then take the 1k window adhesive D 169.300.M1 and cut off the front cartridge nozzle diagonally, so that an opening of around 4mm is
created (Figure 4)

4) Referring to Figure 5 - Push the cartridge nozzle to the foam at the rear and apply the two adhesive beads to the marked points (red lines
shown in Figure 2). Apply the diagonal adhesive bead at the front on the foam pad directly onto the channel to the foam pad and the guide rail.
Figure 5
•
Clean adhesive residues from the guide rail. The adhesive beads should only be on top of the guide rail.
•
Then remove the adhesive tape and fit the sound insulation. Close the glass panel.
5) Carry out a guided fault finding check to confirm there are no related DTC’s
•
Confirm the reading lights are operating to specification
•
Once the sealant has dried/cured - Check and confirm the water ingress issue is no longer evident
