(dorman) is recalling certain accelerator pedal assemblies part numbers 699-114 and 825-5029-1, sold as replacement parts for 2003-2006 acura mdx, 2004-2008 acura tl and tsx, 2003-2007 honda accord, 2005-2006 honda cr-v, 2007-2011 honda element, 2005-2008 honda pilot and 2006-2014 honda ridgeline vehicles. The rotating portion of the accelerator pedal assembly may bind. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 124, "accelerator control systems."

• Recall 94245 [USA]: Removal of the ignition key when the gear selector of a vehicle with an automatic transmission has not been shifted to the park position can allow the vehicle to roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Honda is recalling certain model year 2003 and 2004 pilot and odyssey and 2003 through 2006 acura mdx passenger vehicles manufactured from november 26, 2001, through august 30, 2006. The interlock lever of the ignition switch may deform, which can allow the interlock function of a vehicle with an automatic transmission to be defeated.

• Recall 75146 [USA]: When moving the bike arm bracket to its down position, this pinch bolt has the potential of causing severe laceration or amputation to the user's fingertips or hand.
  Honda is recalling 2,032 hitch style bike racks sold as aftermarket for use on my 2003-2007 and some my 2008 honda pilot, ridgeline, and acura mdx vehicles. A pinch bolt exists between the bike arm bracket and the upright assembly of the "hitch" style bicycle rack.

• Recall 2019117 [Canada]: Airbag
  Issue: on certain vehicles, there could be a problem with the driver-front airbag inflator. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, pieces could be propelled toward the occupants. This could also cause damage to the airbag assembly and prevent it from inflating properly. Note: this recall only affects certain vehicles that had a takata airbag inflator installed during a previous airbag recall or collision repair. Safety risk: in a crash where the airbag deploys, there could be an increased risk of injury. Corrective action: the company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the driver-front airbag inflator replaced.

• Recall 2016249 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will replace the airbag inflator. Note: canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected.

  On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant.   On certain vehicles, the ignition interlock blocking mechanism could become damaged if excessive force is applied to the ignition key. If this occurs, it may become possible for the driver to remove the ignition key when the gear selector is in a position other than the park position. This could allow the vehicle to roll away, increasing the risk of a crash causing personal injury and/or damage to property. • Desiccated air bag inflator rupture investigation as of 20210917

  From 2000 through 2017, takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("psan") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004l. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 blomquist report at www.Nhtsa.Gov/sites/nhtsa.Gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.Pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in us vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced.In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004l that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All takata inflators produced with propellant 2004l contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated psan inflators.It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- takata (now known as tk global), the independent testing coalition, and exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of takata desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004l (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004l is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l.The office of defects investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated psan frontal inflators manufactured by takata. This investigation will require extensive information on takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated psan inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.Gov/recalls?Nhtsaid=ea21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). • Air bag inflator rupture investigation as of 20150224

  The office of defects investigation (odi) opened pe14-016 in june 2014 based on six inflator rupture incidents involving consumer owned vehicles produced by five vehicle manufacturers.All six vehicles were operated in florida or puerto rico at the time of the rupture and for the majority of their service life, and were equipped with inflators produced by takata, a tier-one supplier of automotive air bag systems.During the course of pe14-016, odi determined that five additional vehicle manufacturers used inflators of a similar design and vintage also supplied by takata. No evidence of field failures was found in vehicles produced by these five additional manufacturers.Nonetheless, at odis insistence, all 10 vehicle manufacturers initiated a regional recall within approximately two weeks of the opening of the investigation.The regions recalled initially included florida, puerto rico, hawaii, and the u.S. Virgin islands, areas with high absolute humidity and climatic conditions believed to be a significant factor in the inflator ruptures.As part of the recall actions, inflators removed from remedied vehicles are to be returned to takata for testing.Takatas initial test results on passenger inflators from remedied vehicles indicated a much higher than anticipated rupture frequency for inflators returned from florida.Accordingly odi requested all 10 manufacturers expand the regional recalls for passenger inflators to include other geographic areas where high absolute humidity conditions exist, including the gulf states and other coastal areas.Takatas testing of the passenger inflators to date continues to indicate this geographic area as having the highest risk, with no ruptures occurring from inflators returned from outside the expanded recall regions.During pe14-016 four additional passenger inflator field events occurred, all in vehicles from the same expanded geographic region.Also during pe14-016 four additional driver inflator field events occurred including two in vehicles from regions not known for high absolute humidity, specifically california and north carolina.Accordingly, odi requested all five of the affected vehicle manufacturers currently using the subject takata driver inflators expand to nationwide recalls.Significantly, neither of the affected vehicle manufacturers or takata provided any explanation to account for these two driver air bag inflator ruptures outside the area of high absolute humidity.Takata testing of returned driver inflators indicates a lower rupture frequency as compared to passenger inflator testing.All test ruptures reported by takata to date have occurred on inflators returned from high absolute humidity areas.The investigation now includes all manufacturers and vehicles known to be affected at this time.Odis investigation will focus on, among other things, root cause analysis, other potential defect consequences, identification of affected vehicles scope, and adequacy of the remedy.The five odi reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.Nhtsa.Dot.Gov/owners/searchnhtsaid under the following identification numbers: 10537899, 10568848, 10585224, 10605877, 10651492

• Ignition interlock failure - rollaway investigation as of 20121002

The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, turning the vehicle when the driver in front suddenly stopped causing the contact to rear end the vehicle in front of them. The vehicle's passenger side air bag deployed out of it's compartment, however, the driver's seat air bag failed to deploy. The contact stated the vehicle was not towed. A police report was filed. The contact stated the passenger received injuries to their arms, knees, and face. Medical attention was needed. The contact stated they received injuries to their arm and knees, however, no medical assistance was needed. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle's driver side air bag deployed while remaining inside its' compartment and the seat belts have locked. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The contact had not contacted the manufacturer. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

After spending over $400 they now think its the yaw sensor. I strongly do not think they know how to fix it. This is a safety issue. This problem started more than a year ago.

I saw my car listed on the airbag recall on tv, i called and gave the lady my vin# she said it's not on the list ! She told me to ck this due and put my vin in so some one can let me know if there is a recall for anything or any part.

Takata recall my airbags were replaced twice already through recall repair and the airbag sensor came back on last week, moment it came on i was in motion and the steering wheel i was not able to control the steering. This resulted in me side-swiping and object, hitting the curb and flattening my tire. There is also another recall on my vehicle

The headlights fog over to the point of significantly diminishing effectiveness. The problem has been reported to the acura dealer who only offers to charge excessive amounts for a non-guaranteed solution and claims this is not something they see in this car. However, it is clear from regular daily driving that significant numbers of these cars suffer from this problem. The headlights have been cleaned as recommended in the instructions without success. This is an ongoing problem from 2013 to current 2019.

Hose connection failure between radiator and transmission cooler causing radiator fluid to mix with tranny fluid with no dash indicator of problem.. In motion lost power and would not move from 1st gear. Broke down completely in need of transmission work and new coolant system due to hose connect failure.

Similar to a complaint from virginia in 2012 i had an issue with stuttering and a lack of acceleration and one day i stopped at a stop sign and my car shut off and when i turned it back on would not move from park and has not moved since i had it towed to my house

Vehicle slips out of gear intermittently after deceleration, usually while driving in town (under 45 mph). Torque converter shudder or vibration between 35-40 mph.

Srs air bag light error code 61-10 for driver side seat buckle switch failure.

The seat warmer was on, and became o hot that it burned a hole through the padding and the leather, about 2 1/2 inches by 1 inch. Fuse is removed, but now have no seat warmer on the driver side, and i am intimidated to have a passenger use the seat warmer on the passenger side. Photo attached.

Inadvertent braking, especially without illumination of the brake lights. After the braking due alone, the vsa light will be on. Sudden inadvertent braking, especially without illumination of the brake lights. After the sudden braking, the vsa light will be on. This car has 131,000 miles on it and the transmission went out. After reading 37 pages from other owners on edmonds they complained about the same thing. This transmission should not have gone bad. There should be a class action lawsuit because so many other people have had the same problem from the 2003 on. I expect some recourse on paying for this transmission. The cost is almost $5000

Purchased new in 2004. During maintenance i found the rear frame behind the bumper covering to be severely rusted. Not surface rust but chunks that i can easily pull off by hand. Concerned about the structural integrity of the vehicle and my safety i contacted acura consumer relations. Spoke with someone who just said they can't help because my vehicle is out of warranty. I feel that something is probably wrong with their materials used to allow such severe rust to occur and eat away at the frame.

The warning light on my dashboard display related to the airbag system is on. Auto shop says that it indicates a problem with the airbag system. I have not repaired it yet as they said it is an expensive repair. In would like to have it fixed. I am thinking it may be related to the problem being dealt with in the takata recall.

Takata recall received recall notice july 2016 called for appt august 2016 dealer stated "waiting for parts" and will call when parts come in to schedule repair have not received a call from dealership received notice from acura in march 2017 (last week) that repair has not been completed. Transmission failed today 123k. Called customer service what a joke. Emissions light on and air bags are faulty. What a lemon. Nevet buy acura. On a city street car just down shifted and stopped. Needless to say it was 20 degree's outside. Acura doesnt see thus as a safety hazard? Confused and mad really mad. I cant believe they are still getting away with this. I've had my fill with foreign junk. I froze walking home think i have frost bite on my fingers.

I was traveling on a city street when another driver traveling full speed failed to yield as he was entering the city street at a high speed and harshly impacted my car in the front driver's side and then a second impact to my rear driver side. My seatbelt failed to restrain me to the seat and as a result i was brutally banged around the interior of my vehicle. Even though the physical damage to my car didn't look to be too bad, i sustained 7 herniated / bulging disc in my back and neck in which many are pressing my spine. None of my airbags deployed as well. Not even the side curtain airbag on the impacted driver's side. Had the airbags deployed and my seatbelt restrained me properly, i would not have sustained the serious injuries i did

The fuel gauge indicated that the tank was half empty. As soon as i began to fuel the car, the fuel overflowed spilling on the vehicle. I suspect that the fuel vapor recovery system might be defective.

Torque converter issues. Looks like the widely known complaint about the torque converter and transmission issue in honda pilots and acura mdx. My acura mdx 2004 clearly has the grinding sound (intermittent) when driving 35-40 mph. The issue was known by acura in apr 2004 (recall), we bought the car new in may 2004 and were never told. We now have 150k miles on it but we have had the issue for a while - when asking the dealer they said they could not hear it (it is intermittent) and ignored it - yes, it is commonly known to car owners but not the dealerships. I now have my kids driving this car but as of today i will take it back and give them my other car. Not safe for them to drive it. I know i have a lot of miles on mine, but the issue has been known by acura officially since 2004. It is all about the money. What to do - recall is closed, class action in ca is closed, dealers and acura/honda ignoring it. Help please.

Took vehicle vehicle to dealer for air bag light on. Was told 2 sensors were malfunctioning and needed replaced (81169-sox-a1 and 77970-s3v-a72) on 8-18-2016. Over a week later the dealer ( mac churchill) tells me the parts will not be available till the middle of september. Asked if the was a major issue with acura i was told only on 2003 and 2004 models. I was told i could retrieve the vehicle until the parts come in after signing a liability release. If that is necessary, all 2003 and 2004 mdx acura should be taken off the street for defective safety reasons.

Let me get this straight..There is a recall for the passenger side airbag and i am not supposed to have anyone in the front seat for the next 3 to 4 months...I was told the airbag is on back order till late fall!!!! God forbid nothing happens to my family driving this acura mdx

My acura mdx 2004 has had the window regulators replaced three times and now both windows are broken again. When the window slams down into the door frame it makes a terrifying noise which has caused me to nearly wreck twice. The worst incident was when a regulator failed and i caught a piece of plastic road debris in the face (couldn't close the window) going approx 70mph on the freeway. I have a scar on my forehead and was covered in blood. I thought that i had bad luck for a while, but have researched it, and this is not just me. Thousands of honda and acura drivers have the same problem. Most have replaced regulators many times in the same vehicle. Please please do something to make acura/honda provide a free and reliable solution to this massive problem. I can't pay another bill for this and am using cardboard and a garbage bag over the windows now.

I was driving on wednesday jan 5 2016 and my car stalled while driving on old grassy road at about 20 miles per hour as i just had stopped at stop sign. I noticed the lights were all starting to come on and the car completely stopped. I had it towed to acura of milford, ct. After 2 days and after installing a new battery and alternator they found 1 of 6 coils melted - the ignition coil - which then ruined a spark plug which then ruined my engine. The value of the car is not much and i was already over $1000. Why would this happen and why after all my regularly scheduled maintenance was this not found until it was too late. I had told repeatedly that vtm 4 and ignition lamp indicators come on. I could have been seriously injured and in fact the air bag was scheduled to be repaired the same day due to a recall. I am lucky i was not in an accident. I am hoping for further investigation because these repairs i should not have to pay for since my car is now inoperable. Following a relatively high speed accident, car vs. Downed large tree, the car sustained significant left front end damage and impact hard enough for driver to strike his head on the inside roof of the vehicle, suffering head and neck injuries. Only the side airbags on passenger side deployed. Neither front airbag deployed. No driver side airbags deployed. Front passenger and driver airbags had just been replaced due to recall on 10-12-15.

Had shift lock recall installed couple years ago. Was a little stiff shifting afterwards. It has steadily got worse. Does not shift through all gears and very hard putting in gear. Driving 30 to 45 miles i am getting a grown in my gas pedal and when i go pass 65 to 70 miles i get vibration. In my steering wheel. I had my wheels road force balance i had wheel alignment done i had suspension struts and shocks change. I am still having the same promblem with the transmission

I got an airbag recall notice in january 2015 for my acura mdx. Now it's mid- may and the acura dealership keeps say they do not have the part. This is a safety issue, acura needs to do better than this. I sensed that acura is dragging its feet!

The airbag light warning continues to come on and stay on. Sometimes is goes off, but comes back on later. This was reported to the dealer in charge of airbag recall and the only solution offered was paying a hefty fee to diagnose the issue without guarantee. I bought a brand new acura mdx from bill vince showroom in bridgewater, nj. I was extremely happy with the cars performance until a couple of years ago. When the car hit 75,000 miles, the service manager at the dealership informed me that the car needed a new transmission in the near future.' the service manager did not put in a new transmission at that time. Now, the car needs a new transmission as it is slipping gears and sounds terrible when the car is traveling between 25 and 40 miles per hour. It needs a new transmission. I contacted acura customer service. They are ready to give me 50% off on a new transmission. *tr

While trying to fill the gasoline tank recently, i could only add .2 to .3 gallon at time. The gasoline cuts off intermittently. I took the suv to my local repair shop, where i was told it was a common problem with this model. They recommended i take it to the dealer. The local repair shop recommendation was as follows: 1) replace the filler neck, 2) replace the orvr vaper valve and 3) possibly replace the gasoline tank. This suv has been maintained, looks and drives great. It is one owner, has 187,000 miles and i would like to keep until 250,000 miles. *tr

On the highway going 65 mph when the acceleration suddenly froze up, rpms shot up to 4000 -5000, the car started shaking and i had to quickly pull to the side of the highway to avoid being crashed into by other cars. After i pulled over, i turned off the engine, then re-started, so i resumed driving but after driving two miles my car did the same thing once it hit 2500 rpms. Again i pulled over. I restarted my car again and slowly drove my car home. The next day, i called an acura dealership, explained the situation to a service provider. They said they couldn't diagnosis over the phone and said they did not know about a relevant recall. I then had my car towed to a nearby repair shop where they told me that the car would not reverse or accelerate. The service man said he thinks the transmission is broken. I'm now reading how this is very common problem with the '04 mdx. My mother called acura to say that i have read that this issue seems to be a very common occurrence with '04 mdxs but was told that they would not help and were not aware of this make/model having issues with anything other than the rear differential torque converter. The woman she spoke with was very rude and very dismissive. Said my car was too old for acura to be responsible for any mechanical issues and that i had never had the car serviced (which i have.) she was very condescending in her speech to my mother despite the fact that this is a known common problem and which almost killed me. They should make people aware that the torque converter problem is only the "tip of the iceberg" within a potentially much broader scope problem. Had i known, i sure would have addressed this before almost getting killed!! How many people didn't get their torque converter replaced because they did not know the big picture?? *tr

There is a shudder and vibration between gears 4 and 5 when driving 40-50 mph. This is very commonly reported problem on several blogs and problems are ascribed to torque converter. The frequency of such occurence is high and the cost of repair close to 2000 usd is alos quite burdensome for such an expensive car. There is an acura tsb 05-024 for this problem that applies to earlier model years 2002, but acura tells me that for 2004 it does not apply. It seems very clear that this problem has persisted in 2004 my. I am requesting the acura be required to fix this problem as they have in earlier models

I was moving out of a parking space and bam!...The drop of tranny fluid and radiator fluid on the spot. When i took it to a mechanic, they told me this was the 4th honda car they have had with same problem, they found out in all cases it was the pressurized hose connecting these two important parts had corroded to the point of failure. I have been hearing more about this and it is now disturbing to me. In my case my tranny is fine and all i needed was a new radiator and all new fluids. The car was not able to move and that may have saved the tranny. Got it towed and fixed the next day by trusted shop even though it was almost 800 dollars. *tr

I was pulling into drive way when i shut off truck took keys out, shut door, as garage door was opening. Car started rolling back... I opened door tried to press on emerg. Brake with hand as im running with vehicle as it is rolling back, wouldn't stop. I realized the gear wasn't in park, it was in reverse, but with no keys i tried to put gear into park, wouldn't move without keys, i hopped in, put keys in ignition and turned car on, as i was putting the gear in park, the vehicle reared forward and i pressed on breaks but it wouldn't stop. The car was moving forward as i was pressing on the breaks, needless to say, it did not stop until i ran into the garage door as it was coming back down, and both myself were half way into my son's garage door, wall, and shelving, items, all damaged by my rolling backward acura......Because the car was in a fast speed, i tried to avoid going straight into the garage, to avoid going into the bedroom, so i swerved inward toward the wall... The garage door would not lift up off the truck, so i asked my grandson to push on the switch on wall while i lift on the garage door, as we worked together with no keys in ignition, motor off, on the count of 5,4,3,2,1.....I lift, he pushes, and guess what......There goes m car.....Starts rolling back...Right into my son's [parked...Vehicle....Damage...3 claims in one day.....3 deductibles in one day......When i called insur...I was asked if vehicle was drivable?... When i started it. It made a loud roaring sound and would not go into reverse.......Then i found out a recall was out on my vehicle.... And i hate to think that all the times i drove in the vehicle with my grandson.....I just had 2 back surgeries and 2 knee replacements,... As i was running with my vehicle , i injured my back and knee and i cannot work for a while.. All thanks to acura... *tr

As a result, there was an accumulation of moisture and mold. In addition, while driving at 20 mph and attempting to come to a halt, the contact's foot slipped from the brake pedal onto the accelerator pedal due to the moisture. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

Same as all other complaints about fuel back flowing during a fill up. Also, can't fill up the tank because the gas pump keeps cutting off during fill up. Takes over 15 minutes just to try and fill up the tank and that is not always successful. Obviously acura has a 'known' problem with the tank but they won't admit it to the public because then they will have to fix it at their cost. They are hoping that we will continue to pump money into useless repairs, then they may address the issue. *tr

I had noticed a shuddering at 1200-1400 rpm. Dealer said it was likely the torque converter. Recommended not doing anything at this time. In the past month, i've had two occasions while in drive from a stop, when i stepped on the gas the car did not move; the engine just revved. The first time i put the car into park, shut off the car. I restarted and all was well. This next time i was going around a curve at about 10-15 mph, when the car revving response to my pressing the gas pedal, but did not accelerate. As if it had shifted into neutral. I switched into neutral and back into drive, and it re-engaged. Lots of similar concerns on my investigation on the internet. If this is a known problem to acura/honda, why has there not been a recall or a fix? *tr

There is a grind/ roaring sound when i am going about 40 mph. It definitely sounds like the transmission. I researched it on line and have determined that thousand of people like my self are experiencing the same issues, but honda has not recalled these cars. My question is does someone's transmission have to cause an accident and possibly a fatality before this issue is handled. As i was attempting to put gasoline into my vehicle (it still had 1/4 of a tank), with the nozzle on automatic (as opposed to manual), after about five seconds, the pump shut off and gasoline spewed out of the car at the intake location. I was splashed with gasoline. Thinking that i had placed the nozzle incorrectly, i tried it again with the same result. I was again splashed with gasoline. I then wondered if there was something wrong with the gas pump and i moved to a different pump at the same station. Again, i had the same result, but i was splashed less as i had anticipated what ultimately happened. I told my husband what had happened, and the next day, he went to the station with me. He was able to dribble some gasoline into the tank with the nozzle on manual. I looked up the problem on the internet and discovered the same issue with several vehicles of the same year, make and model. On 12/21/13, i called the dealership and informed them of the issue, and i called acura customer care to report it. It was seen at the dealership on 12/22/13. Two parts were replaced -- "canister assy" and "mod. Canister d" (not the gas tank) on 12/23/13, as the parts had failed functional testing. I picked up the vehicle at approximately 2:45 pm on 12/23/13, drove to a gas station, put the nozzle in the intake location and had the exact same result as before. Gasoline spewed out and sprayed me again. I have safety concerns on a couple of levels: the spilled/spewed gasoline poses a fire hazard for me, the vehicle, the gas station, and those people around me who are also filling up, and having gasoline spilled on me is an obvious health hazard. *tr

I can't put more than two or three gallons in my car and it takes forever to do that. Gas runs out of the tank on to the side of the car and the tires. I pulled up my driveway which has uphill grade then a flat area and was in my garage when i noticed that i had the keys in my hand. I turned around and noticed my car was drifting back down the driveway. I tried to jump back in the car to hit the brakes but thought better of it as it was gaining more speed. I let go f the front door and watched as it veered off the driveway and hit a tree and landscaping rock and end of driveway. What it . Internal leak in radiator causing a leak of coolant to transmission fluid and vice versa, damaging transmission and rendering car not drivable within moments.

I was told my radiator bladder exploded causing all fluids to mix, thus i now need a new radiator and a new transmission, cost of repair is $4600. My 04 mdx has 137k this should not happen, there are numerous cases of this same issue all over the internet acura forums, why has there not been a recall on this issue, there is clearly an issue with the radiators. I need to have the radiator replaced, all fluids drained and then flushed 5-8 times to ensure all the contamination is gone, then new fluids put back in along with a replacement transmission. There has to be numerous complaints about this, please help! *tr

I have had to replace the torque converter twice on my 2004 mdx, with a third time being needed now. The replacement failed within 2500 miles and the new replacement is failing as well. I have also had to replace the engine mounts when the torque converter failed the first time. Three times is entirely too many. I am not replacing due to dealer requiring me pay. All service performed as required at the same dealer that i purchased the vehicle from as new. The current milage is 132,000. *tr

Backrest portion of driver seat heats to an extremely high & unbearable to touch(even with multiple layers on in winter) temperature when seat heater turned on high setting. The heater has caused a hot enough temperature to burn through the seat. There is a gumstick size burn in the portion of the seat where it gets the hottest(coincides anatomically with driver's middle to upper right sight of back). The heater burned through the external leather covering which is now black from the burn. Also the leather is hardened around that area from the high temperature and feels like burned, hard plastic. *tr

Purchased this vehicle used. Recently noticed backrest portion of driver seat overheats when seat heater turned on high setting and smells like burnt popcorn. The heater has caused a hot enough temperature to burn through the leather seat creating an approximately 2mm size burn in the driver's backrest. I also noticed brown discoloration in the driver's seat base and what appears to be a similar problematic area on the front passenger seat base with a hardened leather area about the size of a 3x3 post-it note. *tr

I was driving my car about 35 mph and the transmission started slipping. I pulled over to the side of the road and had the car towed. The radiator fluid had leaked into the transmission, initially i had the radiator replaced and had the contaminated fluid flushed and replaced several times. I drove the car for several days thinking that had taken care of the problem- it did not!! I had to have the transmission replaced at 103,764 miles. The total cost to me for both repairs was $4519.09. Now i am finding out that has been a problem and i feel that acura should have recalled all of the 2004 acuras and should pay or in the very least help with the cost of the repairs. *tr

Over a period of time, beginning about the date and vehicle mileage stated above, i experienced a shudder and corresponding noise as the transmission tried to shift gears. Similar to the sensation of driving across closely-spaced rumble strips, the shudder and noise seemed to vary in length of time depending on speed. This occurred many times before i became concerned and started researching during which i found dozens of similar accounts in various on-line forums. Eventually i took my mdx to the dealership for a diagnosis. Disappointingly similar to many accounts i read on the internet, and despite my description of the problem, the acura dealership was unable to reproduce the problem, further noting all 19 items on their multi-point inspection report as "checked and ok", including the transmission. Soon thereafter, the drive train completely froze up as i discovered after starting the car in my driveway (thankfully, not while driving the car). Despite using the transmission shift lock release button (coincidentally -?- the subject of a recall for which i have received a notice from acura), the car remains immobile because i am unable to get the car out of park and put it into gear to return to the dealership for further diagnosis. My local acura dealership has been unresponsive to my numerous complaints and calls attempting to remedy the problem. The consumer stated the water pump, timing belt, air conditioner, motor mount, front axle seal, rear hvac blower transistor all failed. Upadted 03/11/15

Despite acura's knowledge of transmission failures based on an acura service bulletin alert, we incurred $5500 in expenses/damage to our vehicle.We had not been notified of the faulty torque converter/transmission parts previously&acura has avoided taking full responsibility for a known problem in which many consumers have been fully reimbursed for this damage. We are issuing this complaint&requesting reimbursement for our expenses due to acura's full knowledge of this recurring situation,their negligence in alerting consumers&their neglect in resolving the repair in accordance with their responsibilities.We would request that acura be held responsible in notifying all acura owners of the service bulletin/recall pertaining to this faulty transmission. We also feel strongly about the electronic/computer dashboard warnings that gave no indication of damaged or faulty parts creating the dangerous&unsafe situation we had experienced while driving our vehicle in traffic when this incident occurred&are filing a complaint according to the seriousness of this portion of the incident as well. We have much documentation&would be more than willing to provide whatever would be necessary to ensure that this complaint is productive in enforcing acura's responsibility of these two incidents,to further make aware&avoid such incidents&in hopes of being reimbursed for our unexpected expenses as well. I am the sole owner of my 2004 acura mdx touring package. It just turned 200,000 miles but this gas pumping problem has been occurring for several years. When attempting to pump gas, fuel repeatedly backs up in the neck and trips off the gas pump, making a routine stop at the gas station a nightmare. You can only pump at the lowest speed and even then the gas pump still trips off because fuel backs up to the top of the neck. From on line research, i suspect the issue to be a faulty anti siphoning device (asd) which closes off in the neck and prevents fuel from passing, thereby backing up and tripping off the gas pump. It can take 30 minutes or more to fill the tank with gas...That is if you have enough patience to stand there that long. This is simply not reasonable and honda should recall this model and make the necessary repairs. With the other multiple complaint entries for the same issue there is clearly a problem with this make/model. I have been told the only solution to repair the asd is to replace the entire gas tank, which is roughly $1000. I respectfully request this issue be addressed for everyone experiencing this problem. *tr

I have an acura 2004 mdx. 111,000 miles. Serviced as directed. Just replaced the transmission and the torque converter. This is an issue that is clearly a problem. Acura had recalls but claimed to have "fixed" the issue. There is no way a properly maintained car should have to have a complete transmission overhaul done. The mainshaft had to be replaced as well. The mechanics that did the work are ex acura mechanics. They confirmed that this was the exact kinds of problem they replaced for years on mdx's. I had to have an entire new transmission with main shaft and torque converter replaced. This cost me $3,558.02. This is wrong. A car, especially a high end car like acura, should not have to have an entire transmission replaced at 111k miles. It was unethical of acura to not advise me of this history before purchasing the vehicle. *tr

My 2004 acura mdx does not brake properly in a panic type stop from any speed. Applying the brake pedal with maximum force does not generate enough hydraulic pressure to "lock the wheels" and activate the abs on dry pavement. The abs works well under other low friction circumstances such as rain, snow, and ice. The abs and braking system have been checked and found to be working properly. Panic braking distances are long with the brake pedal pushed to the floor, the car feels as if it is not stopping fast enough on dry pavement. Normal, non panic braking seems to be normal. I have had new brake pads and rotors installed. Brake fluid has been flushed twice and i installed stainless steel flexible brake lines all of which made no difference in full panic braking. Over a few years i have had 3 independent shops check the brakes and all said that the brakes were normal. In april 2013, i had the acura dealer evaluate the braking system and was told "normal, this is just how they brake". To do a comparison, i test drove a used 05 mdx at the honda dealer and it braked exactly the same as my 04: no ability to activate the abs in a full panic stop from any speed on dry pavement. Recently, honda recalled 250,000 vehicles for a defective brake booster and the 01-06 mdx is not included in that recall. This recall was based on honda's audit of warranty claims. Cars like my mdx are well beyond the warranty period and would never be found based on any warranty claim history. It is my belief that my 04 mdx (and likely other mdx vehicles) has a defective brake booster resulting in poor braking performance and creates a serious safety hazard. In may 2013, i sold my 04 mdx to the same acura dealer who did the evaluation of the brakes. In june 2013, i contacted acura hq and advised them of the problem and they are going to monitor for similar complaints. *tr

I have a 2004 acura mdx. There are about 77,000 miles on it. Vsa, vtm-4, abs, and airbag lights keep flashing. So i took it to my acura dealership and they told me that after diagnostic that the rear differential failed. I believe there is something wrong with the wiring of all mdx in or around 2004. There has been numerous reporting of rear differential failures in 2003 and 2004 mdxs. Acura should take a look into this and maybe do a recall. This is very dangerous because the transmission makes a loud noise and slows down when you are driving almost as if the transmission was about to go out. *tr

My mechanic determined my front and side motor mounts need replacing, and mentioned it being common in my vehicle. I've since found others with acura mdxs with the same problem. Never needed mounts replaced in any other vehicles owned. I believe it to be an inherent defect acura must address.

I own a 2004 acura mdx with approx. 58,000 mi. The problem i'm experiencing is when ever i try to fuel the vehicle it either stops automatically after about 0.2 gal or it overflows onto the body and tires also after about0.2 gal. I noticed it about 6-8 weeks ago, so i started going to a different gas station where it would fill without problems, but just in the last week, it does it all the time no matter what gas station i go to. I feel this to be a safety hazard due to the fact any fuel spill is hazardous, let alone if it spills onto the rear tire when the breaks are hot on a hot summer day and i just got out of a traffic jam where i was constantly having to break. All though i've read many complaints of this same problem with other mdx owners on various on-line forums, acura has yet to make a recall for this and fix the problem. *tr

The best way to describe the incident is that our vehicle just started to lose power as we were traveling on the highway. Then, it just froze. The car would not move. Then, it seemed to be alright but it would freeze up again. It was very frightening because there were cars on the highway going 60-65 mph. We were able to make it home and had the car towed to a local repair shop and then to acura garage a day later. We were given no warning of a problem. There was no light to indicate a problem. We were told that the transmission and torque converter needed replaced. We learned that this is an ongoing problem with the acura mdx. We filed a claim with acura. We had a service bulletin. Apparently, honda/acura knows of this problem but refuses to do anything about it. We bought our 2004 mdx new. We had all necessary maintenance done on the vehicle. Acura wanted our documentation which we provided. They offered to pay half of the repairs. Our expense was $2000. I feel that a recall is in order. Again, honda/acura knows about this problem with not just the acura but the pilot and the odyssey, as well. Our car had 79,000 miles on it when this occurred. *tr

Intermittently for about 3 months, gas would be pumped as usual. After a few seconds, the gas would gush back out. Or, only a couple dollars of gas could be pumped before the auto-shut off stopped the gas flow. You try again, and it would auto-shut off again. Major fire and safety hazard. After backing out of my driveway and shifting the car into d5 the transmission would not engage and was completely slipping. After shifting to a lower gear i was able to get the car to drive and then shifted back into d5. Upon slowing and then trying to accelerate again the transmission again completely failed to engage and hat to be shifted into the lowest gear to re-engage the transmission. Also, on several occasions while trying to pass other vehicles the transmission would again completely slip. Also at points where i would enter traffic from a side street or parking lot as i have tried to enter traffic at an opening the transmission would fail to engage which has created very dangerous situations where we have almost been in a very bad accident. *tr

I experienced a terrifying event of sudden acceleration. I was pulling into a church parking lot yesterday morning and had almost come to a full stop when suddenly the engine revved and the car took off (a witness said the horn beeped as it happened; i don't remember, i was so busy trying to control the car and the engine was loud, like a teen-ager in a drag race). I kept braking and turned the wheel sharply to avoid hitting the fence in front of me but couldn't get it to stop. It was like it was demon-possessed. I hit a glancing blow to a transformer and a tree and hit two backyard fences. A metal pole of the fence got caught in the right tire and i stopped before going into a swimming pool. The engine quieted down somewhat simultaneously. I'm not sure yet whether it happened because of something installed in the car originally as it has not yet been investigated by our insurance company but we haven't had any recent repair to the accelerator or had any serious problems with this car before this. *tr

My 2004 acura mdx has been making a grinding noise (as if going over rumble strips) when driving above 35 mph especially when driving on a curve. The pohanka acura dealership states that the torque converter is faulty. This particular problem is listed numerous times online for the 2004 mdx. Acura has not placed a recall apparently because they do not see it as a safety issue. They will not admit to have used a faulty part in building this particular model. Highly disappointed with this type of business practice. Where is the customer service they rave about? They are asking for over $3k to replace the faulty part. Since about february 2010 the vehicle stability assist system will randomly activate during periods of prolonged highway driving. This condition usually happens on dry pavement and without warning. It feels like only the drivers side front brake is applied and the vehicle swerves to the right uncontrollably. The condition has nearly caused me to crash multiple times and is very frightening. I have had the acura dealer troubleshoot the problem many times with no results. The most recent time this happened was early december 2013. I immediately dropped the vehicle off at an acura dealer and the vehicle was diagnosed with a faulty lateral acceleration sensor. Unfortunately this part is not available at this time and is on indefinite backorder. This is a serious safety issue that has nearly caused harm to myself and other vehicles due to my out of control vehicle. I am now without transportation until acura is able to get the part back in stock. Acura of america has refused to even log and file my complaint let alone assist me with this safety issue and hardship. *tr

The failure continued to recur so the vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer where the orvr wall was replaced. Approximately 3 months later the failure began to recur and the vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer where he was informed that the replacement of the orvr wall failed. The orvr wall was again replaced. Approximately 4 months later the failure began to recur. The authorized dealer was notified and he was advised to replace the entire fuel tank. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 89,000 and the current mileage was 95,000.

The dealer then replaced the on-board refueling vapor recovery (orvr) wall. Within three months, the failure had recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was advised that the replacement of the orvr wall had failed. The orvr wall was replaced a second time but to no avail. The dealer then advised replacing the entire fuel tank. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 89,000 and the current mileage was 95,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 acura mdx. While traveling at 15 mph, there was an abnormal grinding coming from the transmission. In addition, when accelerating at 15-40 mph, the grinding would stop. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where he was informed that the transmission would need to be replaced. There were no prior warnings of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. I went to drug a store and was in a hurry when i parked the vehicle. I left the car in "drive" as i was in a hurry and didn't notice. I was able to turn off the ignition and remove the key, which didn't register to me as a problem at the time. When i came out of the store, i found the vehicle had rolled backwards and struck another parked vehicle, causing approximately $2200 in damage to the other vehicle. Reproducibly at automatic transmission shifting speeds between 20-25mph, 30-35mph and 40-45mph there is an audible and palpable shudder as the transmission hesitates prior to shifting. Have brought vehicle to acura dealer 3 times over the past 5 years, every time stating the same complaint, and every time referencing a convincing multitude of acura mdx owners noting a similar problem. Every time acura service states they could not reproduce the problem and nothing is wrong with the vehicle. The last time i even drove the car with their chief mechanic, who verified the problem and stated it must be the torque converter, but acura only performed an automatic transmission flush and reset the transmission computer settings that they charged me for, and neither solved the problem. This is a serious dangerous problem and eventually someone is going to get seriously hurt. 1. The front and side motor mounts on my '04 acura mdx are broken as well as the rear a/c blower. Problem was first diagnosed by a private mechanic who was replacing the brakes for us. Aside from the brakes, the auto has been dealer maintained incl. Oil changes. Acura confirmed the diagnosis and refused to offer any "good will" discount for the repairs. 2. Front mount broke first, followed by the side (within 2-3 wks.) due to the additional strain placed on it by the front mount not functioning. 3. Nothing as of yet. Still attempting to appeal the decision regarding "good will" assistance. I am in contact with the dealership trying to resolve, but not very optimistic. Both motor mounts need to be replaced along with the rear a/c blower. *tr

Acura dealers and corporate does not care to listen- because we fools keep buying there cars. - all transmissions will fail very early. I bought a new acura mdx 2004 and in two days the engine malfunctioned, light appeared. I went to the dealer, who said that i need to make an appointment to fix the problem, eventhough as a new customer i was not satisfied with the car, indicating a problem within two days of driving less than 100 miles. I did some research on the problem and found that the issue i am facing is a known issue within the range of my vin number. But acura dealer and the customer relationship office in la denied that they know about the problem. I also found a similar the issue documented on your website. As a consumer what are my rights here ? A) can i get acura to provide me the level of quality and service i am expecting b) reject the product if they failed to notify me about the problem before i bought the product(fair disclosure) about the recall c) they didn't fix the problem before i bought the car, even though they were aware of the problem. I know someone who bought the *same* model car from the *same* dealership and their car also falls in the *same* vin range which is documented to have the problem. They told them that its a known issue when they called the acura dealer service, and ask them to come down for service. But when i ask the same question they deny knowing any issue with the car, they even showed me a print out which says nothing is flagged against my vin number. I have currently given my car for service, and i am on a loaner car from the dealer. Still waiting for the car to be serviced. Also i am concerned that if the problem reappears, it will further erode my confidence in the car and the dealiership. On a trip to a car wash, my acura mdx got locked with the engine running which caused a back up on the line and loss of business for the car wash. I had to hail a cab to go home and get the spare key and compensated the owner for the loss. When i got home and read the owner's manual i was very surprised to find out that the vehicle can be locked using the master lock button in an open passenger door even with the key in the ignition and the engine running. It was then that i realized that the car wash attendant on the passenger side must have locked the vehicle. This is a flawed design and can potentially cause safety problems. I now have to carry a spare key when i go to a car wash. I brought this to the attention of the manufacturer and got no response. *ak

The check engine light frequently blinks and the car occasionally misfires while the car is accelerating or under heavy engine load (e.G., accelerating onto the freeway or driving on interstate through the mountains). These conditions appear to happen more frequently the whether is cool and damp. When the vehicle misfires, the engine hesitates and various dashboard warning indicators light. The engine hesitation and distraction from the warning lights makes it difficult to complete merger into traffic.

The acuramdx that i bought is for model year 2004, there is kind of a loud droning noise from the exhaust system, that was identified by the reading honda dealer and furthur confirmed by the mfg's rep, but the problem did not get fixed since the mfg. A loud "droning" sound comes out at 2,000-2,200 mph, especially loud at approximately 40-45 mph. Dealership and manufacturer say that this is a "natural sound" of the 2004 mdx. I do not buy this explanation it is hard to believe that an expensive suv such as this would have a "natural sound" like this loud droning sound. It is very loud especially during cold weather. They insist that this is related to the new dual exhaust system of the 2004 mdx. What if it is engine or transmission related? *ak
