• Recall 2018523 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag inflator.

• Air bag acu electrical overstress investigation as of 20190419

  The office of defects investigation (odi) is expanding the investigation to include the equipment supplier and vehicle manufacturers (oems) using this unit.The investigation focuses on acus manufactured by trw, now zf-trw (zf) , the tier-one supplier to hyundai and kia and the other affected oems.The acu senses a vehicle crash to determine whether air bag deployment is required, and if so, deploys the appropriate air bags and other supplemental restraints.Zf supplied subject acus to six oems: fca, honda, hyundai, kia, mitsubishi and toyota.Internal to the acu is an electronic component (an application specific integrated circuit, or asic) that monitors signals from crash sensors.A failure of the asic may prevent deployment of the required air bags and devices, or may otherwise affect the proper operation of the acu.The acu is located in the passenger compartment, and electrical wiring connects the asic to sensors located at the front of the vehicle.Odi’s current understanding is that a crash event may, in and of itself, produce harmful signals on the sensor wiring capable of damaging the asic, although the probability of this occurring appears to be low.While the acu incorporates electrical circuitry intended to protect the asic from harmful signals, the level and effectiveness of the protective circuitry varies by oem customer.During pe18-003, hyundai and kia filed recalls (18v-137 and 18v-363 respectively) to address a defect that could result in acu disablement and non-deployments.According to the filings, the disablement occurs in certain types of frontal crash events.Both filings discussed a condition known as electrical overstress (eos) that affected the subject asic and was likely caused by electrical signals that entered the acu via sensor wiring.The recalled vehicles used acus that had the lowest levels of asic protection while non-recalled hyundai and kia products using subject acus had higher levels of protection.Odi has not identified any eos failures in the non-recalled kia and hyundai populations.In september 2016, fca filed recall 16v-668 for certain model year (my) 2010 to 2014 chrysler, dodge and jeep products also manufactured with the subject acu.In that filing, fca also discussed an eos condition that resulted in a failure of the subject asic, which caused air bag non-deployment. Fca noted that the defect condition had only been observed in vehicles equipped with sensor harnessing routed across the front of the vehicle.Other fca vehicles that also used the subject acu, but not the cross-car harnessing, had not experienced eos failures, despite similar time in service. The recalled fca vehicles used a mid-level form of asic protection.Other fca vehicles that did not use cross car wiring, or used higher levels of asic protection, have not been recalled.Odi has not identified any eos failures in the non-recalled fca population.Recently, odi has identified two substantial frontal crash events (one fatal) involving toyota products where eos is suspected as the likely cause of the non-deployments.The crashes involved a my 2018 and a my 2019 corolla equipped with the subject acu that incorporated higher levels of asic protection.Additionally, both acus were found to be non-communicative (meaning the acu could not be read with an event data recorder) after the crash, a condition found in other cases where eos occurred with other oems.No other eos events have been identified for other toyota products (including corolla models that used the subject acu since my 2011), or for the honda and mitsubishi vehicles that use the subject acu.Odi plans to evaluate the susceptibility of the subject acu designs to electrical signals, as well as other vehicle factors that can either lead to, or reduce the likelihood of, an eos event.Additionally, odi will evaluate whether an unreasonable risk exists that requires further field action.

A car stop in front of me quickly so i push the brake hard to stop and i heard the abs grinding, so everything fine, i continue driving then i want to stop on the stop sign and i found the brake pedal is not normal i have to push it completely down feels like no brakes i took it to acura dealer and they flash the brake oil, and i told them what happened they said no air in the abs or the system and its normal but if it happen again you need abs control module the car mileage is 109000 and its all highway miles. Now when i push on the pedal it feels spongy and it goes to the floor. Its kinda scary to drive and the cost of this part installed $4000. For this mileage and this car i think something wrong going on..

While driving on the highway, a warning message to "check power steering!" appeared and the power steering deactivated completely. This left me suddenly in a very heavy and difficult to turn vehicle. I had to push/pull the wheel very hard to the right to slowly get it off the highway while barely missing other cars. This was a very unsettling/highly dangerous situation. I have researched the issue and found that this year/model car specifically has a well known issue with the power steering failing. This is absolutely a safety issue and needs to be recalled. Acura has quoted $3800 to fix the problem! Told me it is the entire power steering gearbox/assembly which implies it's something like a worn out motor , however the issue is intermittent and usually disappears once the car has fully cooled down, at least until it has heated up again at which point it will suddenly happen again at any time (typically after an hour or two at most). The fact it is an intermittent issue would suggest it is a computer related problem/wiring problem - aka ; defective part . Car has only 105k miles and has never been mistreated not had any damage sustained nor have any serious potholes been hit. Apparently acura is repairing problems with the eps unit under a lifetime warranty for that specific part, but not the steering gearbox. So they clearly recognize the defective nature of the power steering in this model/year car but want to minimize the cost to fix the problem by only warranting the cheaper of the possible power steering issues to fix while leaving any other issues up to the owner to pay out to fix. I cannot afford this so i effectively no longer have a vehicle.. Spent 25k for this car and got 105k out.Of it only.. Thanks honda! A warning light flashed rapidly on the display panel "steering system failure". Luckily i was driving at 5 to 10 mph and able to pull over. After about 30 seconds, the warning light stopped and the car's steering then performed normally. The problem occurred again within minutes and driving less than 2 miles. The mileage on the car is 66,100, the car auto oil change / b1 reminder was showing 5% remaining for the b1 service. I contacted acura they would not accept responsibility for repairing the car even though this seems like a manufacture's problem,

While i was driving, the power steering malfunctioned and i almost got into a car accident as i could not turn my car. I was lucky but my life could have been in serious danger because of acura. This is not a very old car and does not have a lot of mileage. The car had to be towed to a mechanic and said it would cost $1850 to fix. Ridiculous.

I was driving all of sudden power steering system light comes on and cant steer the car have to get it towed home.Verry dangerous for whoever makes this steering wheel like this.For this car.With only 100k miles.

Car with 94k mikes. Power steering stopped working while driving. Almost impossible to turn wheels. "check power steering" light on. Fuse for eps is working, which indicates that eps unit has failed. With the number of the same complaints over last few years acura should issue safety recall, as lack of steering could lead to fatal incidents.

I got check power steering system indicator on and power steering jammed , cannot turn. This happened all of sudden, fortunately it happened while driving back home on driveway. Car has 75k miles, never heard for such thing, bad quality from acura.

While driving on the freeway 65+ mph the eps alert came on and the steering wheel was extremely hard to turn. Luckily i was able to get the car home safely. I see many many complaints for the same issue, this is a huge safety issue and very dangerous. My car has just over 90k miles.

While i was driving to work the steering wheel got real tight and was very hard to move. Luckily i was not on the highway yet and was able to pull over safely. This was very scary and dangerous. I had to leave my car there and find a ride to work. I then had my car towed to a car shop to have it checked out. They are telling me it is an electrical problem but going to do a full diagnostic on it and get back to me tomorrow. After seeing all these complaints there should be a recall for this situation.

Power steering module died at 95k... First noticed after starting it up at the end of work day in the parking garage. It was driveable with lots of extra muscle during any kind of turn. After diagnostic performed by dealer, issue did not occur for a 30 minute drive home. The next morning though...It was out again.

The vehicle was towed to island acura (3350 sunrise hwy, wantagh, ny 11793, (516) 679-5400) where it was diagnosed that the control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 09555329; however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 80,000. The vin was not available.

I lost power steering driving to work at interstate speeds a couple of weeks ago. I have been driving this route to work for many years and this experience startled me. This situation could have become fatal very quickly with a less experienced driver.The replacement cost is expensive and the eps module needed for repair is not easy to find. None of the local acura dealers will work with me so my car is sitting in a storage yard while i try to figure out what to do. As a result, i am without a car to get to work everyday. To add insult to injury, i just got the car out of the shop for a "soft pedal" brake failure, that happened at highway speeds too. This issue also could have ended very differently with less experience behind the wheel. That repair was expensive and it did not restore the braking system to original feel. The car stops better but just not as well as it did before. Let me reiterate, the car does not have that many miles on it. I might expect these problems from a vehicle with twice this mileage,but not from a car with less than 100, 000 miles.

My 2012 tsx power steering failed this weekend while driving and it was a very dangerous situation. I was able to get the car home but was quite lucky that none of our teenage drivers were using it at the time. The dash warning signal came on for the electrical power steering. I followed the instructions in the car manual and tried to reset the warning by turning the car on and off and it did not make the issue go away. Upon making an appointment today and doing some research on the problem, i found that this has been reported many times on several websites. I believe this is a significant safety issue and you should take action to prevent future, more serious incidents.

I went to the dealer and they told me nothings wrong but clearly something is wrong. This is a huge safety hazard and puts my life as well as others at risk. Others have posted about this online. The power steering went out all of a sudden while i was driving home on the freeway. I was driving at normal speed with no traffic when my steering wheel went stiff and the car became very difficult to steer. My dashboard flashed a warning light and a message reading 'check power steering system!' i had to exit the freeway carefully as my steering wheel would barely move. I narrowly missed hitting several cars as i exited the freeway. My car just hit 70,000 miles like the other people who have experienced this issue. I have yet to get a repair estimate from acura, but it appears to be a very expensive issue. Please help as this appears to be an ongoing issue with these particular acura models.

Power brake booster check valve sticks in cold weather negating power assistance. This came to my attention with seattle's recent cold spell (feb 2019). Check valve located within master tube assembly (46402-tl2-a11) which is on backorder across all states that experience winter weather. I've spoken to numerous dealers and scouring the internet, this is a common problem. Additionally, i contacted acura twice and was told follow up would be immediate, with zero response to date.

"takata recall" acura needs to be aware of what happened to me yesterday. Yesterday i was driving home from work when all of a sudden the eps system light turned on. This is the power steering light. My steering wheel locked where i was having difficulty steering my wheel. Luckily i only had 2 make 2 turns but it was hard doing so. An inexperienced driver would have crashed and it could possibly lead to a fatality being that a car is not supposed to lock on you when you are driving on the freeway. Vehicle has less than 57k miles and fantastically maintained. While driving with my 3.5 year old daughter this afternoon, the power steering lights and message came up and the steering immediately failed causing panic for my daughter's and my safety. The infotainment system advised of the problem and suggested to turn vehicle off then back on and the problem persisted for the next 4 minutes of driving then a mandatory stop was made, vehicle turned off and sat for 20 minutes then started again and problem was nonexistent but while driving for another 4 minutes, the system shut off again without warning. Driving approximately 35 mph on residential collector road power steering failure message appeared and steering wheel instantly became almost impossible to turn. Fortunate able to wrestle steering and turn into residential neighborhoodcoming to a complete stop. Turned car off to investigate issue. Upon turning car back on no failure light appeared and now appears ok to drive? It will be taken to shop for diagnostic testing but likely this is the electric power steering unit. If this happened suddenly on a a higher speed turn or curve drifting into oncoming traffic more than likely. An inability to steer your car just driving down the road with no external event is a major safety problem.

As i was driving to work the eps indicator came on and i lost power steering. I was driving 65 miles an hour on the highway. I was able to turn the wheel by muscling through it but it was extremely difficult to turn and i would not have been able to make any tight or sharp turns.

My husband was driving and we were on our way to a wedding in santa rosa california we live in vallejo california we were going on the highway at about 60 miles per hour and the check power steering system light came on and it became very hard to steer my husband pulled over at a gas station and we sat for about an hour turn the car back on and it was reset it was good about 3 days later i was driving down highway 80 in the middle of the day going about 65 miles per hour and the light came on again it became very hard to steer i tried to pull off of the road but the slower you go the harder it is to steer it was very scary and cars were coming past me very quickly i had to pull over in an unsafe area i looked it up online and apparently it's the eps module that had gone out it's happened to a lot of other people between 60 and 81000 miles since this is a electronic module problem i think that acura should pay for it it's also very unsafe to have your steering go out when you're going down the highway and it becomes extremely hard to turn to get off of the freeway or turn down a road i'm lucky that nothing happened

I drove my car to the store with no problem but when i left the store and started my car and it had a power steering failure warning. I had to drive home without power steering making it difficult to turn. Upon searching this issue there are numerous other complaints for the exact same thing.

Stationary vehicle. With no warning, all my power steering sensors started blinking and chiming when turning on my vehicle. The electric steering is completely gone. Upon researching this issue, it turns out this is a massive problem for acura and honda and yet no recall has been made??? Instead honda/acura are charging, and i quote directly from the acura technician 'over $1000, under $3000' to fix the issue. Why is there not a recall? This can technically happen while driving, when the car is at speed. Someone would be killed, easily, especially if driving on roads that have turns and/or curves.

Turning left into my neighborhood, there was dash warning message for complete power steering failure. It took a massive effort, on my part, to turn the wheel and complete the turn in front of traffic. As i was in my neighborhood, i was nursing the vehicle back to my residence. About two minutes later, after the event, the warning light went off, and the power steering started to work again.

This is just very shocking that acura does not seem this to be a safety hazard and correct the issue for their customers before someone is seriously injured or killed.

I have a 2012 acura tsx that has had no prior issues before this one. While driving on the highway my steering wheel locked up and the message check power steering came across the dash. I have seen at least 100 complaints of this issue happening to other owners while on the highway, in busy intersections, and while driving. I live in the upstate of south carolina and there is major road construction going on. This mean no emergencies lanes, only two lane and concrete dividers so there is no way to pull off the road. Therefore this is a fatal accident waiting to happen. This definitely needs to be checked out for a recall so that no one loses there life because acura would rather keep charging people $1,500.00 to fix it instead of reporting a recall for a faulty part.

I had to leave my car in the street and uber to work, work with aaa and the local acura dealership to get my car in for repair. It was the esp that had failed. With parts and labor the bill was $1,600. The car has 77k miles on it. This part should last at least to 100k, if not the life time of the vehicle. Luckily for me i was not on the highway, operating a vehicle with no steering is very scary and very dangerous. This is a serious issue that needs to be recalled by acura before someone is killed. I bought an acura because i trust them, their cars and their brand and i am incredibly disappointed in their lack of care and safety of their customers.

In review of these complaints, 45 out of 64 related to steering. >70% steering complaints. A recall should be made.

We were fortunate that my wife was able to pull over safely, but could have been a serious issue if it had occurred at a high speed or turning in a busy intersection. Acura tsx power steering failure while driving out of driveway, warning light appeared and power steering failed. I contacted acura and advised of all the similar problems other have had with this vehicle and the extreme safety issue. Due to it being just a matter of time until someone is killed, i demanded they pay to repair the steering. They have not responded back to my request. I continue to follow up with my claim. I hope this complaint results in a recall not for just me but to save the life of parents and children driving around with this vehicle that could kill them on the highway or any roadand and they have no notice and don't even know. I traveled 150 miles to purchase a 2012 acura tsx at calidad motors in concord ca. I was told my deal went through so that is why i drove that far. When i got there, checked out the car and stated the issues to the dealership, which were promised in the deal paper work that they would get fixed. I have contacted dealer and the dealership refuses to contact me back or assist me in this repair. I expressed that they sold me a vehicle that had been in an accident, due to what the repair shop had told me. I was told to send in the photos and a video of the damaged bumper and fog lamp area. They still have not responded to me. Since then, my bumper has fallen off and caused damage to the vehicle. I had my husband put the bumper back on to the vehicle.

The local acura dealer advised me today (6/11) the eps unit needs to be replaced & estimate to replace it $1639. I did my research & what do i see, too many complaints about the same issue. Both times i was in the city & going no more than 40 mph.

2012 acura tsx 100k miles extremely well maintained. Shortly after leaving work yesterday i was driving on a very busy street(45 mph zone) in rush hour and lost complete steering control. The car was extremely difficult to steer. Lost all power steering assist. I proceeded to pull in to a parking lot, turned the vehicle off and then on again and steering assist was back. Continued on my drive home and it happened again while in motion 45 mph. Pulled off the road, cycled the ignition again and power assist was back. Thankfully i was not mid turn when this happened or an accident very well could have occurred. The vehicle gave no warning whatsoever before this happened. Very dangerous. My husband is a ase certified technician and has not been able to duplicate the problem again since it has happened, so he is currently not able to pin point if its the eps module, steering gear, or torque sensor. We don't want to throw a $1200 part at it based on a guess. This is way too many complaints on such a serious issue for honda not to have issued a recall. Toyota would have been on this like white on rice. We bought a honda for a reason, reliability. Currently its a nerve racking car to drive with the potential of causing serious injury or death along with all the other hondas/acuras using this same eps system. Please submit this to honda.

I have had my acura tsx 2012 for almost a year now, the car currently has a little over 49k mileage and only had 1 owner. I was driving on the beltway and noticed on my dash that it had a check power steering light flashing. When it started flashing i quickly noticed me not being able to turn left or right due to the steering wheel tightening up. The feeling was as if you tried to turn the car wheel when the car is not on. This was a very scary feeling because, without me using all my force i would've been unable to pull over to the side of the road. I then tried to cut the car off and restart it which was ok for maybe the first mile before it happened again. This was a big inconvenience especially with me not reaching my destination. I had to repeat the steps over half dozen times before getting home safely. This was one of the most scariest experiences i've witnessed as a driver and i think this is a manufacturing issue. Even though i'm safe now, this could've been a life or death situation for alot of drivers. When i looked online their are over 50 issues with the same steering problem which may be due to the electronic power steering. I purchased an acura due to their history of reliability & dependability but this altered my opinion drastically. I definitely think acura needs to seriously look at a recall on these vehicles before someone loses their life.

Takata recall: i was driving on i-5 north freeway at the speed of 65 miles/hr. Suddenly, about 1 mile from alton exit, the "checking power steering system" light was on, and i could barely turn the wheel. It was super dangerous. I exited freeway trying to park in the nearest parking lot. But i could not park properly into the parking space because the wheel was too heavy to turn. This was on the way to my job interview. This incident caused big trouble on my job interview. I had to reschedule it with the company. My car only has 55,000 milage and i always keep very good maintenance on the car. Such big issue is not supposed to happen on the viecle with such low milage. Acura dealer charged me $1800 to replace the computer part that controls the power steering system. It is lot of money, not mention the terrible safety hazard it caused. Even new part has been installed, i am still worry similar issue will happen in future. I saw lots of complaints about the same issue on the same model. Acura should definitely recall this.

Steering wheel was very difficult to move as car was guided to the side of the road in heavy traffic. After shutting the car off and waiting 30 minutes, car was restarted and the error cleared. The power steering system function returned and the car was able to be driven home. Checking online forums afterwards, determined that failure of the electronic power steering control module is very common in these cars between 75,000 and 80,000 miles. This car had 77,900 miles on it when this failure occurred.

The other day i was driving on the free way and my steering wheel locked up on me while i was driving which could've caused an accident or something more worse. A lot of complaints were already made on arfc so i'm surprised this hasn't become an issue for the dealership to make this a recall. It's a safety hazard and can cause someone's life. I really hope this gets escalated so we can save someone's life and get a refund for replacing this computer chip module that's cost 1500 dollars. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the power steering module wiring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. It was unknown if a dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to call nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000. The vin was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 acura tsx. The contact smelled a strong fuel odor in the vehicle and discovered that the fuel tank was leaking. The dealer was contacted (2175 s bradley rd, santa maria, ca 93455) and informed the contact that there was a recall on other vehicles with the same year. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer informed the contact that, due to the warranty being expired, they would not be able to assist. The vehicle remained parked at the contact's residence. The failure mileage was 125,000.

Vehicles electronic power steering control unit failed. Vehicle was stationary when this happened, but became incredibly difficult to steer. This appears to be a common issue on these cars with similar mileage (73,000). Acura will not honor the part and owners have to pay out of pocket for a common safety issue.

Takata recall

When the car is started for the first time of the day--especially in cold weather: symptom: noise during start for a second or two. Info: sound comes from the (timing chain?) cover on the left top side of the engine--looking from the bumper. Called acura dealer and mentioned items i had read about---stretched/loose tensioner (pressurized with oil?), stretched timing chain, vtc actuator---he said yes,yes,---tensioner and timing chain would be changed, i cannot remember what he said about the vtc actuator. Another acura dealer indicated it is the vtc actuator is the issue. Called acura consumer relations who noted they could not help. This problem seems to be well known among acura owners on various websites. I do not think this should be happening at 82k miles. Note the warranty is for 72k. Note it has happened for almost a year; below i have noted one day it happened.

My tsx is close to 80k miles. I have had no significant issues with this car until now. I started my car one morning and saw a "check power steering" notification and the power steering icon illuminated on the dash. One shop attempted to reset the eps (electric power steering) system and make sure the voltages looked ok. This worked for 3 days before i had the same "check power steering" notification and light illuminated on the dash. This will result in a fix in the realm of $2000 for a total replacement of the steering rack. I'm very unpleasantly surprised that acura has not issued some sort of recall for this issue because of the large amount of issues that are similar to mine. Acura was very prompt with fixing my takata airbag, but after this i have to say i am no longer impressed.

Was driving vehicle home and the power steering light came on as i was about to turn left across oncoming traffic. Fortunately steering wheel did not lock but had to turn it with great effort to get across oncoming traffic lane. If there had been heavier oncoming traffic i likely would've been t-boned. It's my opinion that this system did not fail safely. Looking at other reports where this repair cost more than $1000. Adding my story in the event this leads to a recall.

Started my car and got "check power steering system" error on my dash while backing out into the road...Car had no power steering. I did manage to drive the car home and the next day called the dealer. Was informed it was most likely the eps (electronic power steering) module and would be $980 for he repair. Upon further investigation i've learned that this can lock the steering wheel while driving! The dealership nor acura thought this was a big deal or a safety hazard when i spoke to them...Dealer didn't even tell me to stop driving the car when i asked them if it was safe for me to commute an hour each way via interstate. Acura opened a ticket as i requested "goodwill fix" and was denied any assistance as i drive my car to much and they didn't have many reports of this issue and again didn't find it to be a safety hazard. I took my car to the local dealer and requested a loaner car until the steering was fixed. I am out $980 and have learned the manufacturer wont back their product unless it kills someone...Google search shows this happening to many tsx owners but didn't seem to matter to acura. We are a long time honda/acura family and this shouldn't be failing on a 5 year old car, major safety concern.

An animal destroyed two wiring harnesses under the hood, that i could see. Car will not start. Apparently the insulation on the wires is soy based and critters like to eat it. The car was sitting in my driveway, and hadn't been driven for 1 day when i discovered the problem.

I drove for 20 minutes to my destination at a speed of 40 miles per hour. My car was resting for about 30 minutes while i was at my appointment. When i was leaving the location, i started my car and the electronic power steering alert came on, and it was extremely difficult to turn my wheel, so i could not drive the car. I looked at my car manual, and it stated that i would need to take my car in immediately for maintenance. My car was towed to the dealership for inspection. The dealer service department advised that the car shows a "32-09 motor current correlation failure," and advised that the control unit has to be replaced. The dealer advised that the module controls are contained, and that control units typically never go bad (60% of cars was quoted). He advised that "they typically go bad if something hits it but this is not the case with your vehicle." is this a manufacturer defect and/or should there be a recall?

I have a acura tsx 2012 - about 70,000 miles. One evening leaving work my car notified me that i needed to check the power steering system. My wheel was completely locked and i had to get it towed to an acura service center. I then later learned that i need to replace my eps unit and my cost would be $1028!!!!! This is unacceptable as my vehicle is fairly new and well maintained!!! Acura needs to fix this issue and reimburse me! It could've been life changing for me if this happened will on a main highway, etc!!! Unacceptable for this vehicle!

The dealer indicated that there was no service campaign from the manufacturer and no recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

While driving on the busiest freeway in cleveland, ohio (7/23/17); an error popped up on my acura tsx saying "check power steering system," and i immediately lost all power steering of my vehicle. I was able to pull the wheel (with great force) to the side of the road, and read the owner's manual. It said that there's a problem with the electrical power steering of the vehicle and to shut off the car and turn it back on to see if the error resets. Thankfully the error went away. I called the dealer the next morning (since this happened on a sunday), and they said if it happens again to bring it in for service. I drove the car for another 6 days (thinking it was a fluke), then to my parents 2 hours away to youngstown, ohio (7/29/17). When i got back into my car, turned the key, the error "check power steering" popped up again. Unfortunately, it did not reset. When this error occurs, the entire power steering system doesn't function. The steering wheel will turn; however, with great force! It's extremely difficult to move. I did some research and found a ton of issues with the electrical steering system of the 2015 acura tsx. I've had the car 5 years and drove it 79,000 miles (freeway mostly); it's odd that this early in the life, a main computer that houses the steering would fail. I found posts of people driving with children on freeways and on winding roads encounter the same issue and they lost control of their cars! See sites: 1. Power steering froze up and almost caused an accident for my wife and son . Found out acura has a lot of power steering module issue. Not reliable since its not very old vehicle. I believe acura should reimburse me for my cost of replacement of power steering module.

Last week driving my acura tsx 2012 car home from work, suddenly the electronic power steering failed. I was driving on a winding road and mid sharp turn the power steering failed and i almost lost control and came close to crashing into the tree line on the side of the road. I had stop since my heart was palpitating so hard. I almost crashed into the tree line and would have been seriously injured or worse. Luckily my instincts kicked in and i was able to with all my might slow down the car and turn the wheel as hard as i could to avoid crashing. This is really dangerous and i am lucky that i came away unscathed. I took my car to the dealer and they told me that i needed to replace the whole electronic module which will cost approximately $1200 to fix/replace. This type of failure is very dangerous and something needs to be done about it.

Luckily i was making a very slow left turn when my power steering completely failed in my acura tsx wagon. I would probably not be sitting here writing about this experience if i was driving at a high speed. My heart was pounding out of my chest as a struggled to pull over. This is so unacceptable and these cars should be recalled.

While out on a shopping trip i started the car and the power steering warning indicator and alarm displayed. I could not turn the wheel of the car to exit my parking space so i called a tow truck. The tow truck operator was able to muscle the car onto the flatbed. My mechanic's diagnostic test indicated that the electronic power steering module had failed. There was no indication of any problem prior to this failure. The car has 59k miles and is well maintained. The weather when this occurred was clear. I have filed a complaint with acura (case #05948611) because i see that this unit has failed for other owners while the car is in motion creating an extreme safety hazard.

The contact stated that an independent dealer sold the vehicle without disclosing that the air bag deployed in the past, which caused the srs indicator to illuminate on and off. The vehicle was taken back to the seller who took the vehicle to a certified dealer. The technician diagnosed the vehicle and informed the contact that the air bag failure involved the entire air bag system and not just the srs indicator. The dealer stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the seller did not take responsibility for the failures. I work for ber now, and i give rides to people. So i had just picked up a second passenger at a parking lot and was driving at around 20-25 mph and i had to turn to get out of the parking lot. As i tried turning the steering wheel locked on me and got a message on my dash to check power steering. So i had to brake immediately and let the passengers know what was going on. I was blocking traffic into the parking lot to try to figure out what was going on. After turning the car off and back on and forcing the steering wheel, i was able to unlock the wheel but i was still very had to turn. Towed the car to the dealership and they said they had to replace the electric steering system on the car which was over $1400 out of pocket. Lucky i wasn't driving at higher speeds in the freeway other wise i don't know what could of happened.

Lost power steering while driving on the freeway

While driving, all of a sudden (electric power) steering completely looked, could not move right or left, very serious safety issue, luckily pull over and towed to my auto shop, electric power steering (eps) module needs to be replaced cost me $1,200.

I had just finished right turn and when driving straight ahead, the warning light for eps came on and all assist lost. Drove 3 miles home, turned car off in driveway while calling dealer and when immediately restarted, assist returned. Drive about one mile and lost assist again. On way to dealer, straight highway driving, some assist returned but wheel would not center straight ahead. The failure occurred out of the blue with no indication before hand. My tsx has 52,078 miles on it. Was told by dealer the eps module needed to be replaced @ ~$1200. Without significent strength, driver's safety at significant risk.

I had an accident in the snow and slid into the guardrail while turning. Not much body damage, but the steering completely locked. Was stuck in the road for 2 hours with the police having to block off around me. Had it towed to my mechanic. He could not do anything with it because he said it was electrical and could not clear the code that was coming up and needed to go the dealership.Had to have it towed to the dealership. They are replacing the steering.

While driving, in motion, the electronic power steering (eps) failed. Dash indicator light displayed "check power steering system". Steering wheel was incredibly difficult to maneuver. I have driven cars equipped with traditional belt & pump-driven power steering systems that failed before with not much issue except reasonably extra effort to maneuver, but the higher level of strength required after the tsx's esp failed was shockingly greater. The car was diagnosed at an acura dealership that confirmed the eps module had failed. This module is basically a computer, so it cannot be given regular maintenance or monitored. The consumer will never have any signs of failure until it actually fails. *tr

Eps (electric power steering) light come on while driving and lock steering. Error code: 32-09. Eps light will turn off after restart engine but will come on again and lock steering again while the vehicle is moving. I brought my car to local shop to run diagnostic and they suggest that this is bad manufacture issue and suggest to contact acura to fix it under its warranty. I have call acura dealer and they said they are not cover it and i have to paid to get it fix. It is a really dangerous problem and can cause major accident if it was turning and eps light on and lock my steering wheel. I attached receipt report from auto shop. Thanks

My 14 year old daughter, who's learning to drive was behind the wheel when the car steering wheel locked up and wouldn't allow her to turn the vehicle. Luckily we hadn't approached the highway yet or who knows what would have happened while driving on the highway. We were backing out of our driveway and she said the wheel felt funny. We were a mile from our home entering a round and heading onto the highway when she said the wheel wouldn't turn and she panicked. I grabbed the wheel and it wouldn't budge. We came to a complete stop in the round about and thank god no one was entering or exiting it. I had to shut the car off after she stopped the car that was sideways in the street. *tr

2012 acura tsx sports wagon (~31k miles) - failure of electronic power steering (eps). Last week i parked the vehicle with wheels turned to the left and when i restarted the car after few minutes, the power steering was gone. I turned the car off, restarted it again and the power steering came back. Did not think much of it. The power steering went out again (complete failure) a couple of days ago while driving on a street with my family. I felt the steering wheel "jerk" to left and right and then a complete loss of the power steering. Luckily, i was able to maintain the car in lane and pull it over with using a lot of force. Turning the car on and off did not help. This is a great safety concern. Had i been driving on a highway or a curvy road, could have ended in a horrible accident. Without the power steering it requires a lot of force to control the car. Took the car to the dealer and was told it is the eps unit (~$1,200 parts plus labor) . I called acura's main office with my concern. They promised to look into this and talk to the dealer about discounted fix (manufacturer warranty just expired). I checked the internet and there is over a hundred of similar eps complaints for acura and honda. There was an investigation opened under honda, however, it was closed without a recall. This is a great safety concern and should be a recall.

On monday april 11, 2016 at approximately 9:40am while driving on i-15 north i heard a very loud noise which i found out after parking my car that the moonroof had shattered and was bent outward. It was not clear to me what happened or where the noise came from when i was driving, since there were no other vehicles in close vicinity and there were no loose objects on the road. I was driving roughly around 70mph when the moonroof unexpectedly shattered, all windows were closed, radio was off and the visor/shade to the moonroof was also closed. I immediately reported the situation to acura of riverside in california where i originally purchased the car (brand new) and was referred to acura client relations who then instructed me that i go to the nearest acura dealership to have the car inspected.I took the car to kearny mesa acura in san diego and they held my car all day on april 14. They did not inspect and examine the moonroof to determine what caused it to shatter. In conclusion, it is disingenuous for kearny mesa acura to not even inspect the car and it is appalling and inexcusable for the case agent at acura client relations to negligibly dismiss the report as 'damage is from outside influence'. Lastly, i took the car for inspection to acura of riverside on april 23 and was told there is no impact on the moonroof but the decision is up to district parts & service manager at american honda motor company, inc. Acura of riverside called me on april 25, 2016 stating the district parts & service manager says damage was done by outside influence wow! This experience to say the least has been horrendous and unfair, as i write this i have a 2002 civic ex on the driveway currently on recall for the takata airbags and my family owns two more acura tsx's. The red paint is fading in patches on the top surfaces-hood, roof, and trunk. Other boards report same problem with honda/acura red cars. Car has only 40,000 miles, garage kept. Dealer acknowledged issue. Offered to repaint hood only but could not gurantee match. Acura/honda has defect in red paint they will not back

Upon starting vehicle i noticed intermittent "check power steering system". During drive cycle i encountered failure of electric power steering assist, very difficult to steer vehicle. Went to dealer for service, they witnessed same symptoms stated above, but intermittent check light will not produce a fault code, technician stated it seems like a ground problem. Unable to drive vehicle due to unsafe condition, very difficult to steer, would not be able to avoid an emergency while driving because of the amount of force needed to steer vehicle.

Driving my car home, no other traffic close by when i heard a loud pop, then a second pop. Both sounded like an impact from something, but there wasn't anything around. I felt cool air on the back of my neck, opened the sunroof shade and saw that my glass was shattered. After a few minutes i could hear a crackling sound that persisted until i was home. Upon examination, there was no impact marks, the sunroof glass was shattered, bowed outward. We placed packing tape over the glass to keep it intact. I was going 55 miles an hour when this happened, the weather was probably low 60's out. *tr

First thing in the cold morning my brake pedal was solid, no movement when i press it, and thus no brakes. This is the 2nd time, but the first time (a week ago) i thought i did something wrong because it went away quickly. This morning i almost drove into traffic. And after i entered the road, it took a few minutes before the brakes returned to normal. I'm guessing there is some moisture in the brake line that is frozen and eventually it thaws and the brakes return. *tr

I don't have any external electronic devices or chargers plugged in to where it can cause the battery to drain, nor do i leave the headlights or cabin lights on. Acura dealerships claim there is no issue, however there are many complaints about it by acura customers online. *tr

On 7/3/2013, i took my car in to the dealer for service because it had demonstrated several episodes of engine hesitation. I have always used premium gas. The car was checked, but the symptoms were not observed and no cause could be determined. On 9/19/2013, i returned for an oil change (annual service) and also asked if any engine hesitation service bulletins or advisor's had been issued. None had been. These episodes: ?Have occurred about 15 times while owning the car. ?Have all occurred when accelerating moderately from below 20 miles an hour. ?Have occurred under all combinations of engine and air temperatures. ?Last from 2 to 3 seconds, while the engine does nothing. ?Are intermittent and cannot be summoned upon demand. On some occasions, the hesitation has put me at risk of collision, where i could not go forward but had to brake. The risk of nonperformance is always present and is a constant source of dissatisfaction for me. Based on my limited understanding, my guess is the cause involves a sensor or computer. *tr

Steering vibrates from 45 to 75mph, dealer has test drove and also felt the vibration, and told that is the tsx wagon charactistic, and refused to do a further diagnose. 2 wheel alignment for the 1st 2 weeks of ownership then 2 road force tire balanced and still did not fix the problem, this is all happened in 4 weeks. The steering vibration could cause by bad motor mount, transmission mount, axels, bad suspension components, bad rotors. New car should not have any steering vibration, specially on highway speed. *tr

When accelerating from stop light and the car in front slows down, i let off of accelerator, then press down on accelerator again when appropriate, the car stalls and then leaps forward. This causes an immediate problem and the brakes have to be applied or the car in front gets rear ended. The acura dealer tells me that they have had numerous complaints about this, but, they can't fix the problem because acura won't fix it. *tr
