• Recall 105463 [USA]: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 ford edge and lincoln mkx vehicles manufactured september 2, 2010, to november 30, 2013; 2013-2014 ford taurus and lincoln mks vehicles manufactured august 25, 2011, to november 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 ford flex and lincoln mkt vehicles manufactured september 12, 2011, to november 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.
  ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on august 4, 2014. • Recall 101040 [USA]: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.
  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 edge vehicles manufactured from september 2, 2010, through april 25, 2013, and equipped with 2.0l engines. The fuel line pulse damper metal housing may crack as a result of an improper manufacturing process. A cracked fuel line pulse damper housing may result in a combination of fuel odor, weepage, or a continuous leak while the fuel system is pressurized.
  ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel line with one that does not have a damper, free of charge. The safety recall began on february 25, 2014. Owners may contact ford at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 13s13. Important: this recall supersedes recall 12v-438. All vehicles that have been remedied under the previous recall need to have the current remedy applied.

• Recall 2014280 [Canada]: Powertrain
  On certain vehicles, the right-side halfshaft retention clip may not have been fully engaged, and could allow the halfshaft to separate. If this were to occur while the vehicle is being driven, it could result in a loss of motive power. If this were to occur while the vehicle is parked on an incline without the parking brake applied, it could result in unintended vehicle movement. Both situations could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will inspect halfshafts for full retention and affect repairs as necessary.

  On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.0l engine, the fuel line pulse damper may have been manufactured incorrectly and could develop cracks. • Door ajar warning light always on investigation # PE16012

  The office of defects investigation (odi) opened this investigation on september 28, 2016 based on allegations that the "door ajar" light located on the instrument cluster stays on all of the time even when all doors are closed and fully latched on 2011-2013 model year ford edge vehicles.When the light is illuminated continuously, vehicle occupants cannot be certain if any of the doors are properly latched.Reported safety consequences as a result of this issue include doors opening while driving (because doors were initially not latched properly), doors cannot be locked while driving, and the interior dome lights staying on continuously. Ford data received from the information request letter corresponding to this investigation indicates the failures were caused by contamination of the electrical contacts on the switch located within each door latch that tells the vehicle if the door is open or closed.All four doors contain the same latch design and switch.According to ford, the body control module (bcm) monitors the position of the switch and continuously samples it to detect a state of change.After a closed door state is detected, a continuous wetting current designed to keep the electrical contacts clean is sent from the bcm to the switches as long as the bcm is active.Beginning with the 2011 model year edge vehicles, a change in bcm strategy resulted in a reduction of the wetting current sent out to clean the switch contacts by more than 75%.Over time, this low level of current is not sufficient to keep the switch contacts clean and contamination build up causes them to fail as described above.During the course of this investigation, odi has identified a total of 1,983 complaints related to the door ajar light.Of these complaints, 14 indicated that a door opened while driving.Twelve of the 14 door opening events were situations where an occupant of the vehicle (often a child) opened a passenger door because the doors were not locked.The remaining two complaints involved a door opening on its own because the driver was unaware that the door was unlatched.There were no accidents but one complainant reported that a shoulder injury was caused by the driver having to repeatedly slam the door in an effort to get the door ajar light to turn off.After reviewing all available data, an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety has not been identified.The door latches themselves continue to function properly, remaining securely latched until acted upon by a driver or passenger.Child safety locks on the rear doors continue to function properly and can be used to prevent the rear doors from opening via the inside door handles.Vehicle crashworthiness is not affected by the lock condition of the doors and all active safety systems continue to function normally even if the vehicle bcm believes one or more doors is open.In addition, no accidents or accident related injuries have been reported.A safety-related defect trend has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.Accordingly, the investigation is closed.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.The agency will monitor the issue and reserves the right to take future action if warranted by the circumstances.Odi numbers for the reports cited above are shown in the attached document.

Brakes peddle soft, fluid full, intermittent times where putting on the brake and felt they weren’t working (scary). Pads, rotors fine. Taking in to dealer and anticipate they will replace brake booster, master brake cylinder and still the brake issue remains not fixed. Reading posts on internet and many owners having same issue where dealer can’t seemed to be able to determine problem.

As i was driving, all of a sudden the car would not pick up speed. I gently put additional pressure on the gas, but nothing happened. I was lucky as i was going out to my mom's. As i pulled into the drive way i heard thumping noises (that is the best way i can explain the sound). Turned car off, visited with my mom, hours later drove home not issues / no light indicators. About a month later i was approaching a stop sign. As i proceeded after the red light turned green, the car again would not increase in speed. I gently applied more pressure to the gas pedal but it would not pick up speed. I had my foot on the gas almost to the floor. I was approaching an overpass but was skeptical about the car gaining speed enough to go over it. I thought best to pull over and seek other options. I called a tow truck and had it towed to my home. The following monday i had taken it to a repair shop. The garage had it for two days and was unable to detect any thing wrong. This is a serious issue, if this would of happened on a busy freeway, this could result in serious accident in which fatalities could have happened. Losing power on a busy freeway is a disaster waiting to happen. I know my car, this has happened to me two times within 3 months. I am afraid to drive it and have take steps to correct this, but garages "cannot fix what they cannot find". So tell me ford corporation what advice are giving to you consumers? Or are you going to wait until someone gets killed ?

This is my 20 year old daughter's car. She attends college in another state. Recently, the door ajar light comes on and will not go off. This prevents her from locking her doors, all of them! Not while driving, and not when parked. The closes all doors and tries to lock the car, and the passenger side "door ajar" light remains on, even though the door is closed and shut tight. The repair to this issue is replacing the entire door latch mechanism and costs over $500 at the dealer. I would do it myself, but the ford door assembly is very complicated and must be done in a precise manner. Right now, the car is parked as my daughter is on a summer trip. The interior lights are always on, so the battery has been drained and is now dead. It will not take a charge. So, i need a new battery before i can even work on the door. I believe this is a safety issue because the doors cannot be locked. The security alarm cannot be activated, and most importantly, my daughter cannot lock herself safely inside if she was being pursued by an attacker. Criminals could also ransack her belongings from the unlocked vehicle and homeless vagrants could sneak inside as well. Ford needs to recall all these ford edge's with this problem. I'm told it's the 3rd most popular complaint on the forums.

My door ajar message stays on,door is not ajar while driving but dome lites stay on after the car is off for a while before the lites finally shut off, bad switch or sensor, if so how can this be fixed, before my battery wears down? This only happens when i use the drivers side passenger door! This has been going on now for about 2 months!

I was driving my car with my 6 year old in it and it suddenly lost power on the freeway. There was a yellow wrench that appeared on the dashboard i was able to veer over to safety. Ford said it was the maf airflow sensor. We replaced it. Today, 4 days later it happened again with my daughter in the car. I bought this car 2 months ago from albany subaru and they claimed it passed a 19 point inspection. I have a loan out on it and it's a completely unsafe vehicle

This complaint is regarding the vista panorama sunroof. While trying to close my sunroof, i started hearing loud popping sounds. I had to take my car to a mechanic to get the sunroof closed. I was later informed that the clips on the guides were both broken. Needless to say, ford is manufacturing cheap tracks that are held together with plastic clips designed to move very heavy glass back and forth. This is untenable. I have researched numerous other customers with the same issue with very little affordable resolutions.
