• Recall 73994 [USA]: The absence of the weld can allow the strut to come out of its mounting position under certain extreme driving conditions which could cause damage to surrounding vehicle components increasing the risk of a crash.
  Ride control is recalling certain front strut mounts branded as gabriel ride control or arvinmeritor, p/nos. 142435, 142193, 142305, 142303, sold as replacement equipment for the vehicles listed above. The affected front strut mounts did not contain a weld joint between the bearing housing and the rate plate.
  ride control will notify owners of record and replace the affected parts free of charge. The safety recall began on march 15, 2010. Owners may contact ride control at 1-248-458-1396.

• Recall 60914 [USA]: Without the amber reflectors, the vehicle will be poorly illuminated, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash without warning.
  Certain pro-a motors corner lamps, turn signals, and headlights sold as replacement lamps for use on certain passenger vehicles listed above. • Recall 34850 [USA]: Nissan expects that this new air bag can help reduce the risk of air bag inflation-related injuries.
  Nissan is recalling my 1994 and early 1995 altima vehicles following reports that passenger air bag deployments in these vehicles had caused a number of moderate-to-severe eye injuries. Nissan has developed a new passenger air bag that is less powerful when it inflates in a crash to reduce the risk of air bag inflation-related injuries.
  nissan will replace the passenger air bag at no charge to the consumer. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification began april 28, 2003. Owners should contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

• Recall 16730 [USA]: A leaking brake hose reduces braking capability, increases stopping distances and increases the risk of an accident.
  Certain of the brake hoses for the right rear wheel were routed incorrectly so that contact is made with a suspension component. This causes abrasion to the hose and eventual leakage.

  The shift lever lock plate, which prevents the shift lever from being inadvertently moved from park to drive or neutral position, can be broken by the transmission shift position pin.

• Recall 2003118 [Canada]: Airbag
  Nissan has initiated the following action on certain altima's. The passenger side air bag will be replaced with a depowered one in order to reduce the risk of facial and eye injuries allegedly caused by the airbag being too powerful while inflating. This action is deemed a safety improvement campaign and is not being conducted under the safety act. Correction: dealer will install a new depowered passenger side airbag free of charge.

  By letter datedapril 11, 2003, nissan notified nhtsait will conduct a campaign to replace the passenger air bag module with a "depowered" air bag module in model year 1994 - early 1995 (built prior to march 2, 1995) nissan altima vehicles. The replacement module will be provided at no charge to owners.The "depowered" air bag should reduce the overall risk of air bag deployment-related injuries. The air bag replacement campaign to be conducted by nissan, which will enhance safety and be monitored by nhtsa, sufficiently addresses the safety concerns raised by this investigation.Accordingly, this investigation is closed.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.The agency will take further action if warranted by the circumstances. My 1995 nissan altima burn out when the car was in motion, coming from the hospital with my son.

The seat belt won't release. We have to keep pulling the belt and rapping it around the head rest so that we can drive it. If we allow it to retract we cannot pull it out of the belt re-tractor. *tr

Rusting cross member bar of the radiator core of all nissan altima from 1995. Upon inspection i noticed the cross member bar of the radiator core completely rusted. No rust anywhere except for this area of vehicle. Part should be recalled due to inferior workmanship of the steel this is a serious and dangerous problem because it supports engine components and may cause an accident it the parts give way under the rusted support structure. *tr

After reading several articles on line about the rusting cross member bar of the radiator core of all nissan altima and maxima cars from 1992-2006 and their re-badged infiniti cars i decided to check my vehicle which only has 41500 original miles and kept in a garage most of the time owning it. I am the first owner and kept this car in mint condition. Upon inspection i noticed the cross member bar of the radiator core was completely rusted in the center like what is affecting all the other vehicles of this model. My car is well cared for and has no rust anywhere except for this area. This part should be recalled due to inferior workmanship of the steel used as most altima and maxima cars are rusting in this spot and not only is it expensive to fix but dangerous because it supports vital engine components and may cause an accident it the parts give way under the rusted support structure. *tr

I was driving and the gas pedal separated/ cracked from the firewall . *tr *js

Tl* the contact owns a 1995 nissan altima. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the accelerator pedal detached from the firewall. The contact was able to successfully stop the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to an independent repair shop but they did not diagnose or repair the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The failure mileage was unavailable.

When pressing on the gas pedal with moderate to heavy pressure (for moderate to fast acceleration of the vehicle), the vehicle, on occasion, continues to accelerate after releasing the gas pedal. If the gas peddle was pressed down firmly when this happens, braking has little effect on controlling the vehicle. Tapping the gas pedal does not seem to correct the issue as it occurs. After shifting the vehicle into neutral (automatic transmission), the acceleration seems to stop within one second.

Tl*the contact owns a 1995 nissan altima. The contact noticed that the left front tire was flat. The sidewall was punctured by the coil spring. The tire was replaced by a mechanic. The current and failure mileages were 133,792.

Right front coil spring located on strut broke, the top coil rusted and broke the remaining coil spring jumped over the retainer on the strut assembly and was resting on the inner fender. *jb
