• Recall 94014 [USA]: If the motorcycle stalls, there is an increased risk of a crash leading to personal injury.
  Triumph is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 street triple, street triple r, and daytona 675 motorcycles. The regulator/rectifier can overheat and prevent the motorcycle from charging. Once the battery is fully discharged, the motorcycle may stall.
  triumph will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the regulator/rectifier, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on, or before october 12, 2012. Owners may contact triumph customer service department at 1-678-854-2010.

  On certain motorcycles, the regulator/rectifier can overheat and prevent battery charging. Once the battery is fully discharged, the motorcycle will stall. Engine stalling would result in lost vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road condition, and the rider’s reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the regulator/rectifier.

I recently experienced a motorcycle fire likely caused by the recall issue while starting my morning commute. I was lucky enough to notice the smoke shortly after leaving my home just before getting on the freeway. I was wearing a helmet camera and i have included the youtube video of the event below. 4 years ago a local dealership performed the prescribed recall fix on the regulator/rectifier. The wire from which appears to have been the source of this fire. I contacted the dealership and they told me because the work had been done, triumph would not repair this issue. My concern is a motorcycle should never catch on fire and this definitely appears to be a design flaw. If i had not noticed it when i did i might not be hear to write this report. I was riding my motorcycle when it suddenly died. I couldn't restart it. My buddy brought an ohms tester and said the battery wasn't being charged. We had the vehicle dropped off at a dealership for maintenance. When i got home i did some research on the internet and a safety recall came up, rm2012/019, for the exact problem that happened to my bike. Its a faulty regulator rectifier. I contacted triumph usa and they said because i brought my bike from overseas (im retired usaf), that the safety recall didn't apply to me, and that any repairs would be out of my pocket. How is that fair? I've registered it here in the states, and the exact problem it was recalled for is what happened to my bike. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 triumph street tripler 675 motorcycle. The contact stated that the electrical system would not charge the battery and he was concerned that the vehicle would suddenly stall. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who advised that the vehicle would be repaired under warranty. The contact called the manufacturer who advised that they would further assess the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was approximately 3,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 2,600. *tr

I was riding my triumph street triple motorcycle on the highway when the bike just suddenly shut off. I lost all power and the bike would not restart. I tried to quickly change lanes to get to the shoulder, but was unable to get out of the flow of traffic. I was hit from behind by a car. The bike slid and i was injured in the fall. I had the bike towed and discovered that the regulator/rectifier had failed. The battery would not charge as a result so i lost all electrical power. The bike was out of warranty by 6 months and even though this is a known problem with the bike, triumph refused to pay for the part, the labor or my medical expenses. I purchased a new part online and replaced it myself. This is a common and well known problem with this motorcycle. Several people have had this part fail in the first hundred miles they have the bike. *tr

2009 triumph street triple throttle play. There seems to be some slack or binding on the throttle cable that makes the throttle open abruptly causing a dangerous situation. *tr
