  The emergency brake handle locking mechanism tension spring may have been improperly installed. An improperly installed spring potentially lacks sufficient tension after the emergency brake is applied and could cause the brake to release. This could result in vehicle roll away and a possible crash. Correction: a longer tension spring will be installed on the brake handle locking mechanism of affected vehicles.

Fuel line leaks and learnt there is a recall in canada with owners complained of the same issues. Defective fuel line system was installed.

Tl*the contact owns a 1993 volkswagen eurovan. While driving 5 mph, the engine on one side of the vehicle became completely loose and fell to the ground. The pan, which supported the engine, fell onto the street and dragged on the ground. An engine bracket, to which the engine is bolted, needed to be replaced. The manufacturer stated that nothing could be done. The vehicle is currently parked at an auto repair shop awaiting the parts for the repair. The parts would cost $450; however, the repair shop is giving him a discount. The manufacturer would not assist. The failure mileage was 131,000.

Dt: contact states a 1993 euro van volkswagen burned while driving. Smoke started coming out from underneath the hood. There was no ongoing investigation to determine the cause of fire.*ak

While merging onto the highway steering wheel failed. Consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor. Vehicle continued to accelerate. Consumer was not able to maintain control of the vehicle, and vehicle went down into an embankment and flipped over three times. The driver was not injured. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic was not able to duplicate the problem. Consumer informed the driver that recall 94v058000 applied to this vehicle. However, mechanic determined that this recall was not for this vehicle. *ak

Volkswagen issued a recall for replacing the crimped fuel line fittings at the upper end of the fuel lines (vw campaign un) already. The failed fittings on my vehicle are at the lower end of the plastic fuel line, with the same problem - when "cold" the. *ak

Consumer was traveling about 15mph on a residential street. She had the window rolled up, and she started feeling sick. She pulled over and noticed white smoke coming from hood area. Consumer went to get her husband, and when she returned vehicle was in flames. Vehicle was totaled. *ak prior to the recall the fuel line failed (00v-039). Customer later found out that there was a recall. *yh

After stopping could detect the smell of fuel inside of vehicle, even with the a/c on. Consumer thought it was a fuel line. *ak

The vehicle was serviced for nhtsa recall# 00v039000, replacing part number 701201363e fuel line, feed and part number 701201363c fuel line, return. The contact stated that his 1995 has the same parts on it, but are not experiencing any problems as of yet. The contact stated that volkswagen should recall the 1995 and any vehicles that are using these parts. The contact wants to get his 1995 repaired but volkswagen will not sell him the part.
