Improper installation of the fifth wheel assembly can cause cracking of the fifth wheel mounting plate.

• Recall 20270 [USA]: The tie rod separation results in a loss of steeringcontrol and possible vehicle accident.
  Variances in the location of the tie rod arm bolt holes and steer axle spindle mounting holes result in the attaching bolts being incorrectly torqued. This causes the tie rod attaching bolts to fail resulting in separation of the tie rod from the steering axle spindle.

  On certain vehicle equipped with fontaine light weight fixed position fifth wheels, the fifth wheel mounting plate may develop a crack in the area where the legs of the fifth wheel are welded to the base plate. This could result in eventual trailer separation. Correction: fifth wheel base plate will be inspected and if a crack is found, the base plate will be replaced.

  The driver and/or passenger seat belt buckle assembly may get entrapped between the engine tunnel and the seat mechanism. Adjusting the seat forward and/or rearward could cause the tether of the buckle assembly to fray. This could result in tether failure during a sudden vehicle deceleration creating the potential for personal injury. Correction: buckle assemblies with tether cable will be replaced on affected vehicles.
