SB-10053951-5514 Classificatio n: Referen ce: Date: EC13-015 ITB13-044 November 15, 2013 2012 AND NEWER; EVAP LEAK DTC P0442, P0455, P0456 INFORMATION APPLIED VEHICLES: 2012 and newer Infiniti vehicles SERVICE INFORMATION Example All model year 2012 and newer Infiniti vehicles have a warning indicator in the instrument area to alert the driver of a loose fuel cap (see example in Figure 1). Figure 1 • If a vehicle displays a Loose Fuel Cap warning light or message, the driver should safely stop the vehicle and make sure the fuel fill cap is installed correctly. • Make sure the customer is informed of the proper fuel fill cap installation. • Customers should refer to their vehicle’s Owner’s Manual for specific details on the “Loose Fuel Cap” warning system and fuel fill cap installation. If a fuel fill cap is left loose for multiple trips, DTCs will be stored and the MIL will illuminate. • If one or more of these EVAP leak DTCs are stored (P0442, P0455, P0456), a loose fuel fill cap may be the cause. If a loose fuel fill cap is not the cause of EVAP system DTCs, use the following resources to perform diagnostics and confirm the cause. ASIST: • Appropriate Service Manual diagnostic procedures • Applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSB). Leak Test: • With CONSULT-III plus - WORK SUPPORT >> EVAP SYSTEM CLOSE. NOTE: Use Essential Tool J-42909 or equivalent to pressurize the EVAP system. • With a “Smoke” leak detection machine. Refer to the machine’s Operator’s Manual for proper use. Infiniti Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Infiniti dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/1
