  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2011-2013 infiniti m56, 2012-2013 m35 hybrid, and 2014 q70 and q70 hybrid vehicles. These models, equipped with 2wd and with a hybrid or vk56 powertrain, have a driveshaft that may break.

• Recall 105094 [USA]: The vehicle may gradually accelerate due to the throttle chamber reopening. this unexpected acceleration may increase the risk of a crash.
  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 infiniti m35 hybrid vehicles manufactured april 7, 2012, to september 9, 2013, 2014 infiniti q50 hybrid vehicles manufactured december 10, 2012, to july 15, 2014, and 2014-2015 infiniti q70 hybrid vehicles manufactured april 9, 2010, to may 7, 2014. Due to a software error, in the affected vehicles, if the signal is lost from one of the two throttle position sensors (tps), the engine control module (ecm) will go into a fail-safe mode, partially closing the throttle chamber. Should the lost signal be restored, the throttle chamber may open, regardless of the position signal from the tps.

• Recall 2020601 [Canada]: Powertrain
  Issue: on certain vehicles, the propeller shaft (driveshaft) could break while driving and cause a loss of power to the wheels. In severe cases, a propeller shaft failure could also damage the parking brake. If this happens, there may be no way to stop movement of the vehicle when it is parked. This could allow the vehicle to roll away. Safety risk: a loss of power to the wheels or a vehicle rollaway could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the propeller shaft.

• Recall 2016358 [Canada]: Powertrain
  On certain hybrid vehicles, if the vehicle continues to be operated for a prolonged period of time following a cooling system malfunction that causes the vehicle to overheat, the hybrid powertrain control module will shut off the engine, as designed, to prevent damage. This could cause the engine to shut off while the vehicle is in motion, which would result in a loss of motive power which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will reprogram the software for the hybrid control module, automatic transmission control unit and inverter to allow the engine to continue operating at reduced power in the event of a cooling system malfunction. Note: if this were to occur, a warning lamp would illuminate to warn the operator and the brake and steering systems would remain operational.

  Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072.Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.The petitioner asserts that hybrid and electric vehicles to which the standard does not apply should be found to contain a safety defect. In support of the petition, the petitioner includes findings contained in a bill introduced in the house of representatives in 2009, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2009, h.R. 734, 111th cong. (2009). A related bill, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2010, became law in january 2011 (pub. L. 111-373). The petitioner requests that nhtsa require all electric and hybrid vehicles comply with fmvss 141, regardless of production date.The defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition.The associated product list is not exhaustive and may contain vehicles that are equipped with pedestrian alert sounds.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 infiniti m35 hybrid. While idling at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact mentioned that the only way to restart the vehicle was by shifting into park. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the intelligent power distribution module (ipdm) needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 119,170.
