Greensboro, NC USA SB-10054026-7808 Date Group No. Release Page 10.2013 831 002 01 1(8) Door Stop Replacement CHU, CXU, GU, TD FSB 831-002, Door Stop Replacement (October 2013) Information Certain CHU, CXU, GU, and TD vehicles may experience issues with door stop bracket failure due to door over extension. Replacing the door stop assembly with a newly designed part will address this issue. To install the new assembly, follow the procedure outlined in this document. Note: Information is subject to change without notice. Illustrations are used for reference only, and may differ slightly from the actual engine version. However, key components addressed in this information are represented as accurately as possible. Field Service Bulletin Date 10.2013 Group No. Release 831 002 01 Procedure You must read and understand the precautions and guidelines in Service Information Function Group 80, “General Safety Practices, Cab” before performing this procedure. If you are not properly trained and certified in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training before you perform it. Note: This procedure applies to both doors. 1 Secure the vehicle for service by parking it on a flat level surface, applying the parking brake, chocking the rear wheel, and placing the transmission in neutral. 2 Remove the kick panel. 3 CAUTION In order to avoid damage to the door, do not allow the door to be opened too far. Note: Discard the removed retaining ring and pin. Remove the retaining ring and pin from the door stop bracket. W8084430 Page 2(8) Mack Trucks, Inc. Field Service Bulletin Date 10.2013 Group No. Release 831 002 01 4 To prevent the door stop assembly from falling into the cab cavity, place a shop towel (1) or other device below the component. W8084432 Page 5(8) Mack Trucks, Inc. Field Service Bulletin Date 10.2013 Group No. Release 831 002 01 7 Install the replacement door stop bracket. Torque the fasteners to 24 ± 4 Nm (18 ± 4 ft-lb). Note: Use new fasteners. W8084432 8 Install the replacement door stop assembly. Hand tighten only. Note: When installing the door stop rod assembly use new fasteners. Page 6(8) Mack Trucks, Inc. Field Service Bulletin Date 10.2013 Group No. Release 831 002 01 9 Install the replacement pin through the door stop bracket and assembly arm. Install the retaining ring. W8084430 10 Torque the door stop assembly fasteners to 12± 2 Nm (9 ± 2 ft-lb). 11 Remove the shop towel. 12 Install the kick panel. 13 Lubricate the door stop. 14 Check the operation of the door.
