Group: Bulletin No.: Issue Date: TECHNICAL 0-General SB-15-030 07-7-2015 SERVICE BULLETIN 14MY-15MY DTC U02A2 DEF SENSOR COMMUNICATION ERROR OVERVIEW On subject vehicles, the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) may illuminate with DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U02A2 stored in the engine ECU. This may be due to a malfunction of the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) tank sensor assembly. Perform the diagnostic procedure for DTC U02A2 as outlined by the Workshop Manual (DEF SCR System Section for Conventional Vehicles, Engine Troubleshooting Section for COE Vehicles). If the diagnostic procedure leads to DEF tank sensor replacement, a more robust DEF tank sensor has been made available. NOTE: This procedure is provided as technical information and is not an authorization for a warranty repair. SUBJECT VEHICLES 14MY-15MY Conventional Trucks (238, 258, 268 or 338) and 14MY-15MY COE (Cab Over Engine) Trucks (195, 195h). BEFORE YOU BEGIN: - Read and understand all instructions and procedures before you begin the work. - Read and follow all WARNINGS and NOTICES set forth in this publication. These alerts help to avoid damage to components, serious personal injury, or both. - Park the vehicle on a flat, level and solid surface and apply the parking brake. - Place the gear shift lever in "Neutral" or "N”. - Confirm the engine is stopped, the ignition switch is in the off (LOCK) position, and the key is removed. - Wear safety glasses to prevent eye injuries. - Place wheel chocks in front of and behind all the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving. Park the vehicle on level ground. 2. Confirm the engine is stopped, the ignition switch in the off (LOCK) position and the key is removed. 3. Apply the parking brake. Remove and discard the DEF tank sensor assembly as outlined by the Engine Workshop Manual beginning on page EN10-12. Install a new DEF tank sensor (Part No. SG400E0071) into the DEF tank as outlined by the Engine Workshop Manual. Clear the DTC and validate that the MIL remains off after the repair is complete. REPAIR PROCEDURE - COE 1. Remove and discard the DEF tank sensor assembly as outlined by the Engine Workshop Manual beginning on page 11-84. Install a new DEF tank sensor (14MY Part No. SG400E0071, 15MY Part No. SG400E0091) into the DEF tank as outlined by the Engine Workshop Manual. Clear the DTC and validate that the MIL remains off after the repair is complete.
