CLEANING AND DISINFECTING GUIDELINES NOTE: Navistar recommends frequent cleaning and disinfection of trucks and buses to protect against Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19, as well as other infectious diseases. Extra care should be given to frequently touched surfaces, such as steering wheels, seat buckles, door handles, handrails, seats, seat backs etc. According to CDC guidance, soap is effective in cleaning the virus that causes COVID-19.* It does not need to be antibacterial. Soap interacts with viruses in a similar way it does with oils: it breaks them down. The virus has an oil-based enzyme that serves as its outer protective barrier that can be obliterated by common, everyday soap and warm water. Soap and water are not ideal for all parts of the vehicle so please see the list below on recommended products. When cleaning, wear disposable gloves, and pay special attention to door handles, the steering wheel, the shifter, seat belt buckles and other surfaces that drivers or occupants touch the most. Care should be taken when using cleaning products to avoid splatter or spray. https://evalue.internationaldelivers.com/service_kb/DocTool/ArticleViewer.aspx?ControlID... 4/1/2020 IK1600258 - Cleaning and Disinfecting Trucks and Buses Page 3 of 4 Caution: Do not mix cleaning products, such as bleach and vinegar or bleach and ammonia, as mixtures of cleaning products may create hazardous reactions. Caution: When using cleaners and disinfectants on flexible material surfaces, test cleaner on an inconspicuous area to confirm no staining or discoloration will occur. Caution: Frequent and excessive use of chemical cleaners may lead to degradation of materials over time. Cleaners should be used as directed. Caution: Do not use cleaning wipes and liquid products, including ammonia mixtures, for cleaning polycarbonate windows (not common) and the clear panel covering the dash, as they may degrade the surfaces. Table 1 lists the products that have been registered by CDC and EPA to disinfect the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19, and are appropriate for use in cleaning vehicle interiors and should not damage the surfaces if used appropriately.
