Safety Recall - Cummins Engine Flywheel Capscrews Improperly Torqued – NHTSA: 21V080 / TC: 2021-069, Cummins Recall: C2402

Introduction
Cummins Inc has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model 567, 579, 367 and 389 vehicles
manufactured from October 30, 2020 through January 14, 2021 with Cummins X15 Engines.
The flywheel-to-crankshaft attachment capscrews may have been improperly torqued. As a result, the engine flywheel may be
susceptible to detaching from the crankshaft, leading to loss of motive power, which may increase the risk of a crash. Additionally,
driveline pieces may be ejected from the engine compartment, which may increase the risk of personal injury.
Resolution
Go to Cummins QuickServe and refer to the Cummins Recall – C2402.
Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.
1. Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on the list.
2. If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review SIR for "Complete" or "In Process" next to the "C2402"
Cummins campaign code prior to performing this repair.
3. Follow the procedures in Cummins C2402 Safety Recall to retorque the flywheel capscrews.
It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to sell or lease new vehicles covered by this recall until the defect or noncompliance has been
corrected.

Go to Cummins QuickServe and refer to the Cummins Recall – C2402. File warranty claims through the Cummins warranty system.
SIR will indicate chassis involved in this recall with the designator of "C2402" in the campaign field.
