Figure 1
Technical background
Should DTC P044100: EVAP Emission Contr.Sys.Incorrect Purge Flow be evident (static or intermittent) within one or both Engine control
modules please refer to the instructions within the Measure section of this TPI
Production change
Not applicable
Measure
1) Carry out a full GFF sweep of All control modules ensuring the diagnostic log is saved online
2) Referring to Repair manual Rep.Gr 20, the operative should familiarise themselves with the location and routing of the twin purge line
assembly
NOTE: The evaporative emission purge valves and supply lines are connected to both banks of the engine
3) Carry out a visual check of the purge line assembly for the following potential issues:
•
Incorrect routing
•
Kinks
•
Loose connections at the point the line is fitted/connected to the engine
•
Damage at the point the line is fitted/connected to the engine
4) If no issues are found as described in Step 3 - Clear all DTC’s and attempt to replicate the issue reported by the customer ensuring the same
drive cycle in which the issue was reported is followed
NOTE: In the event the fault cannot be replicated please raise a DISS query ensuring the diagnostic log is attached online including the purge
line DTC’s and await feedback prior to starting any repair work
Should an issue be evident and the fault can be replicated proceed with Step 5, pay attention to any debris/contamination falling from the ends of
the line during disconnection
5) Replace the evaporative emission purge valve assembly (Figure 1) - Refer to repair manual Rep.Gr 20 - Evaporative emission purge valve To remove and fit - pay attention to any debris/contamination falling from the ends of the line during disconnection, If contamination is found in
the ends of the line or the engine ports please raise a DISS query
Within the Repair manual procedure there are single use items which must be replaced and not reused. Ensure that new
replacements are available prior to starting this procedure – Refer to Elsa pro and ETKA parts catalogue
NOTE: The solenoid valves are connected together with a hose, and have to be replaced as a unit as these solenoid valves and hoses are not
supplied separately
