What’s New
Certain 536, 537, and 548 chassis built with 2.1m Medium Duty End of Frame Trailer Connections may exceed the
standard trailer brake release timing requirements by 0.5 seconds due to the size of the tractor protection valve
fitting and hose. A delay in the trailer brake release can create instability to the trailer and increase the risk of a
crash.
Parts and repair procedures are not yet available. This bulletin will be updated when a repair path is
determined.
Introduction
Certain 536, 537, and 548 chassis built with 2.1m Medium Duty End of Frame Trailer Connections may exceed
trailer brake release timing requirements of FMVSS/CMVSS No. 121 by 0.5 seconds. A delay in the trailer brake

141 Peterbilt chassis (139 US and 2 Canada) model year 2020-2024 536, 537, and 548 chassis built from 7/31/2019
through 9/8/2023 with 2.1m Medium Duty End of Frame Trailer Connections and Tractor protection valves.
Resolution
Safety Recall: Interim Notification
Peterbilt is currently working on a resolution for this concern. Parts and repair procedures are not yet available.
This bulletin will be updated when a repair path is determined.
Federal Law
​It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to sell or lease new vehicles covered by this recall until the defect or
noncompliance has been corrected.

Dear Peterbilt Customer,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Peterbilt has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 2020-2024 536, 537, and 548 vehicles
built from 07/31/2019 through 09/08/2023 that are equipped with 2.1m medium duty end of frame trailer connections, tractor protection
valves and connecting hoses. Affected vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 121, “Air Brake
Systems”.
The timing of the trailer brake release may be delayed which can create instability to the trailer and increase the risk of a crash. Truck and
Trailer brake application timing is not affected, nor is truck brake performance affected.
What is the problem?
The timing of the trailer brake release may be delayed.
What will your dealer do?
At this time, parts and procedures necessary to complete repairs are not yet available. You
will receive an updated letter once parts are available.
What should you do?
No action is required on your part at this time.
Peterbilt Motors Company has initiated this recall to remedy the issue with no charge to you. Currently, repair parts and procedures are
unavailable to correct this condition. However, Peterbilt is required to notify customers of the existence of the identified safety
defect. You will be notified by mail when the parts and procedures become available.

Le présent avis vous est envoyé conformément aux exigences de la Loi sur la sécurité automobile. La présente a pour but de vous
informer que votre véhicule est susceptible d’avoir un défaut qui pourrait porter atteinte à la sécurité humaine.
Peterbilt a constaté qu’une défectuosité reliée à la sécurité des véhicules automobiles est présente dans certains véhicules de modèles
536, 537 et 548 des années 2020 à 2024, fabriqués entre le 31/07/2019 et le 08/09/2023, équipés de branchements de classe moyenne
de 2.1m à la traverse de la remorque, de soupapes de protection de la remorque et de flexibles de liaison. Les véhicules concernés ne se
conforment pas aux normes de sécurité des véhicules canadiens (CMVSS) no. 121, "Systèmes de freins pneumatiques".
Le chronométrage de l’application des freins de la remorque peut être retardé, ce qui pourrait créer une instabilité de la remorque et
augmenter le risque d’accident. Le chronométrage de l’application des freins du camion et de la remorque n’est pas affecté, pas plus que
la performance de freinage du camion.
Quel est le problème ?
Le chronométrage de l’application des freins de la remorque peut être retardé.
Que fera votre concessionnaire ?
Présentement, les pièces ainsi que les procédures nécessaires afin de compléter les
réparations ne sont pas disponibles. Vous recevrez une lettre de mise à jour une fois que les
pièces seront disponibles.

Peterbilt Motors Company a mis en place ce rappel afin de remédier au problème, sans frais. Présentement, les pièces ainsi que les
procédures nécessaires afin de corriger cette situation ne sont pas disponibles. Cependant, Peterbilt se doit d’aviser ses clients de la
présence de la défectuosité concernée et reliée à la sécurité. Vous serez avisé, par la poste, lorsque les pièces et les procédures seront
disponibles.
