P0718

Input/Turbine Speed Sensor A Circuit Intermittent

DTC P0718, sometimes indicated as P071800 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a generic fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the causing input/turbine speed sensor a circuit intermittent.

The input/turbine speed sensor is responsible for reading the rotational speed of the transmission's turbine shaft. If this sensor experiences a fault, it can cause the Check Engine Light to come on and result in shifting problems. In most cases, the sensor can be diagnosed and repaired by a qualified technician.

2008 FORD EDGE with 70000.0 miles

The speedometer stopped working, two or three warning light on the instrument panel came on, the car lost all power. I would only go forward with the gas petal pushed to the floor. It's a known issue, found out from youtube many people have had the same exact issue. It's an intermittent issue that happens when the vehicle is on the road creating a hazardous situation for everyone. Here is what is known about this issue. Technical service bulletin 07-3-11 6f50 transaxles built prior to 1/1/2007 - dtc P0715, P0717, P0718, P0720, P0721, P0722 and/or harsh engagement, no upshift, fifth gear only. Some 2007 Edge and mkx vehicles equipped with a 6f50 transaxle with a transaxle build date prior to 1/1/2007, with any output shaft speed (oss) sensor or turbine shaft speed (tss) sensor diagnostic trouble code(s) (dtcs) P0715, P0717, P0718, P0720, P0721, P0722 and/or harsh engagements, no upshift, fifth gear only, could have an intermittent short in the oss or tss sensor. Ford knows about this flaw and common problem and there is a tsb, but no recall. This is the problem that is causing the symptoms in the video.

2006 MERCEDES-BENZ E350

The transmission conductor plate sensor is defective. I was stuck in either first or second gear. I learn that it was in limp mode. The 722.9 transmission conductor plate sensor is known to have these issue as i learned from many mercedes owner that have the 7speed tranny. Please advise on this subject to take action on recalling the service for my car. I have 2006 E350,2014ml550,2007 s550. These cars all have the code for the same issue. The code is P0717 and P0718. Thank you for taking action into this matters.
POWER TRAIN,

2006 MERCEDES BENZ C230

Periodically the car would lose acceleration and rpms would be high and the vehicle would jerk when i tried changing gears. As i change gears from park, reverse or drive, the gear shift jerks and i am unable to accelerate past 20 mph no matter how much pressure i place on the gas. : extreme loss of acceleration up hill and the steptronic (+/- shifting) did not work... (i could only go 35mph when every one else was going 70mph up hill) when i traveled on a flat surface with no inclination my car worked fine, i then decided to put it on neutral while traveling at 65mph...When i put it back in drive it did not pick up the gears it just continued as if it was in neautral. I had to pull over and shift it into park...As i shifted form "d" to neutral it shifted fine, but then from neutral to "r" the car jerked...From reverse to "p" it jerked again and shifted hard. I then shifted again to reverse, neutral, and drive thus the car jerked and did a hard shift with knocking noise and would not drive. I shifted to neutral again and shut the car off. When i turned it back on it shifted smooth and i drove off without any problem. Took it to a repair shop and received P0717/P0718 fault codes and something about the valve body. I was also told that it was an transmission internal speed sensor issue. There is something faulty with the design and operation of this model year transmission and losing power and being able to only go 35 mph no matter how much you press the gas on the interstate or heavy fast moving traffic is extremely dangerous. Mercedes benz is aware of this problem as many owners have complained but they will not institute a recall. *tt
