• Recall 116097 [USA]: An unbelted driver is at a greater risk of injury in a crash.
  Genera motors llc (gm) is recalling certain model year 2016 chevrolet camaro, malibu, silverado and gmc sierra vehicles. The radio may intermittently fail to provide an audio warning when the key has been left in the ignition and the door is opened or when the driver does not fasten their seat belt. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standards (fmvss) number 114, "theft protection", and/or 208, "occupant crash protection."
  gm will notify owners, and dealers will update the radio software, free of charge. The recall began on march 14, 2016. Owners may contact chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or gmc customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Gm's number for this recall is 15808.

• Recall 115245 [USA]: If the sdm housing fractures, water may get into sdm causing it to malfunction and hinder the proper deployment of the air bags in the event of a crash, thereby increasing the risk of occupant injury.
  General motors llc (gm) is recalling certain model year 2016 chevrolet silverado and gmc sierra pick up trucks manufactured october 13, 2015, to october 14, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the mounting stud used to secure the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (sdm) may be incorrectly positioned, and as a result, the sdm housing could fracture.

  Issue: on certain trucks, the side curtain airbag inflators could be defective. As a result, the driver and/or passenger side curtain airbag inflator(s) could fail. If this happens, the end cap from the inflator or other parts could be propelled into the vehicle and strike a person. Note: this recall replaces transport canada recall no. 2020-576. Safety risk: a metal end cap or other parts that strike a person could create a risk of injury. • Recall 2019533 [Canada]: Brakes
  Issue: on certain vehicles, there may be an error in the electronic-brake control module software. This could cause the driveline-protection system to activate when a wheel-speed sensor fails. If this happens, the brakes could apply and cause the vehicle to pull to one side. Note: this recall only affects vehicles equipped with four-wheel drive, a 5.3-l engine, and a 3.08 ratio rear axle. The problem can only occur when the vehicle is in four-wheel drive or automatic mode, and travelling at a speed between 66 and 97 km/h (41 and 60 mph). A wheel-speed sensor failure will cause the electronic stability control (esc) and anti-lock braking system (abs) warning lights to turn on, and a "service stabilitrak" message to display. Safety risk: a vehicle that suddenly pulls to one side could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: general motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the electronic-brake control module software. General motors advises that using two-wheel-drive mode can eliminate the risk until the recall repair is completed.

  Issue: this recall is for aftermarket replacement rear window glass produced by vitro automotriz. Certain rear window glass may not have been properly tempered. If the window breaks, the glass may separate into large pieces instead of very small ones. Note: this is a voluntary recall that is not being conducted under the requirements of the motor vehicle safety act. Safety risk: glass that breaks in to large pieces could create a risk of injury. Corrective actions: the company will notify consumers by mail and instruct them to inspect the designation code marked on the rear window glass. Products affected by this recall have the designation “dot 287” along with the lettering “vmr” (replacement market) and a date code that is before july 2019. If the rear window or sliding glass assembly are damaged due to a problem with the rear defroster, they will also be replaced.

  On certain vehicles equipped with continental p275/55r20 crosscontact lx20 tires, a manufacturing defect could cause a lack of adhesion between belts in the tire. Affected tires may exhibit localized tread wear, excessive vibration, noise and bulging in the tread area. Continued use could cause the belts to separate, which could lead to full belt/tread loss. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect tire date code markings to determine whether they are from the affected date code. Affected tires will be replaced.

  Certain vehicles may have been built with front upper control arms with a poor quality weld near the control arm’s bushing. If these welds were to fail, it could cause the upper control arm to deform or separate from the bushing, which could affect steering and directional control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the left and right front upper control arms, and perform a realignment.

  Certain vehicles may fail to conform to canada motor vehicle safety standard (cmvss) 114 - theft protection and rollaway protection, and cmvss 208 - occupant protection in frontal impacts. The radio software may intermittently fail to provide an audio warning when a key is left in the ignition and the driver door is opened, or when the driver forgets to put on their seat belt, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. A loss of the seat belt audible warning may increase the likelihood of a front outboard occupant being unbelted, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Similarly, the loss of an audible warning when a key is left in the ignition may increase the risk of vehicle theft. Correction: dealers will reflash the radios with corrected software.

  Issue: on certain 3500 series trucks, the level sensor in the front fuel tank may malfunction. In rare cases, the front fuel tank may over-fill and expand, causing it to contact the driveshaft. Operators may hear a grinding or knocking noise if this happens. This could create a hole in the tank and cause a fuel leak. Note: this problem only affects cab and chassis models equipped with a gasoline engine and dual fuel tanks. Safety risk: leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, creates the risk of a fire. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the rear-tank fuel-pump module replaced. Dealers will also inspect the front tank and replace if necessary.

  Certain heavy duty and police/special service vehicles may not have been repaired properly under recall 2016-053 (gm #20760). The brake pedal pivot nut may become loose, causing the brake pedal to be loose or inoperative. If this happens, a driver may be unable to safely stop the vehicle or the brake pedal may interfere with the accelerator pedal. Both of these situations could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will add adhesive to the pivot nut and will reinstall it at an increased torque.   On certain heavy duty and police pursuit vehicles, the brake pedal pivot nut may become loose, causing the brake pedal to be loose or inoperative. Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado hd. While driving 35 mph, the steering failed and the service stabilitrac warning indicator illuminated. The contact lost control of the steering as the steering wheel veered in the opposite direction. The contact was able t o pull the vehicle over as it stalled while still in drive. The contact was able to restart the vehicle the first time after one minute and all the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed and it was determined that the steering cable was loose and sparking the computer system. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 (na) chevrolet silverado hd. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost power and the engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the engine had excess air. Once the mechanic released the air pressure out of the engine, the vehicle restarted; however, the failure recurred several times. Entire instrument cluster went out while driving causing loss of needed information such as speed and other pertinent information. Dealer says there is a tsb that the entire truck has to be re-flashed including all modules in the vehicle because it does not recognize the instrument cluster. During this time, all safety systems flashed and appeared to be inactive. Air bag, traction control, abs, trailer braking etc. This needs to be investigated to see if a recall must happen. If we got in an accident during this occurrence who knows if any of the safety systems on the vehicle were functioning.

I purchased a 2016 silverado 1500 4wd ltz crew on february 08, 2016. On february 20, 2016 with just 312 new miles driven on the new vehicle, the electric power steering stopped working while driving 60 miles per hour going west on the southern state parkway middle lane in nassau county new york. With no power steering on a six thousand pound truck, i had to struggle with turning the steering wheel away from other vehicle on the parkway and exit the parkway without causing an accident. I immediately call for road side serviced and the truck was towed and return to the dealer for service. During the investigation, the chevrolet service department located in valley stream, ny stated on february 24, 2016 that the entire electric rack opinion for the power steering was defected when it was installed during the assembly by the manufacture. The 2016 silverado 1500 truck was purchased new on 2/08/2016, and i have concerns that other mechanical parts in the vehicle may be defected and the vehicle may be unsafe to drive.

Has the chevy shakes between 38 and 70 mile per hour .5.3 v8 motor and 8 speed transmission 342 rear axel locking differential . Been selling gm's for 55 years and if this was a demenstrator we would never never sell another truck.
