2017 CHEVROLET CRUZE with 35970.0 miles

On 11-6-18 at 33,960 mi while driving on city street a loud pop sound under the dash, instrument panel and all electrical went out (dash, radio, etc) then all warning lights cam on as if car had just been turned on, all display came back normal after several seconds but check engine light stayed on. Dealer found code P16F3 and replaced ecm. Three weeks later (11-23-18 at 34,960 mi) same thing happened while driving but no pop sound and no check engine light afterward. Dealer found no codes but indicated a tech bull dated oct 5, 18 (pic 63333c) indicting gm working on fix. 5 weeks later (12-26-18 at 35,970) same thing occurred agin but this time, unlike previous two times, was driving at highway speed in dark and headlights also were affected (headlights went out then came back on). Immediately drove to nearest dealer (different than original dealer) and they also suggested calling gm consumer line to enter a ticket for safety. Dealer had vehicle nearly 2 weeks but could not find any codes or issues and said gm tech called and said return car to owner as there are no issues. Consulted a local mechanic (former gm) and discussed with service mgr at dealer about a possible ground problem that would impact computers w/o causing codes. At impasse as dealer refuses to acknowledge there is a problem. Scared to drive vehicle at night for fear of accident. Do not know of headlights were affected first two times because of daylight conditions.

2009 CHEVROLET AVEO with 32600.0 miles

I have a 2009 Aveo5 purchased new in march 2009. In april 2011 at approx 32600 the vehicle stalled while i was driving, cel came on, and it would not start again for about 20 minutes. Onstar diagnostics reported "internal control module failure" P16F3. I had already requested a tow truck, and when it arrived, i tried starting it again. It started and was able to move it to get it on the tow truck. Cel was still on. Took it to mike wilson Chevrolet. They kept it 1 week, said there was no cel, no fault code, nothing wrong with it. Last night, january 2, 2012 at approx 48000 miles i experienced the same problem with the same fault code. Onstar, advance auto parts, and my own personal obd2 scanner all reported the same code: P16F3. I searched online and found tsb 09-06-04-005 (february 2009) describing the exact problem and resolution: ecm recalibration. This morning, cel is off, and i went to rod hatfield Chevrolet which was the dealer closest to me, and they said that despite having that exact problem while under warranty and having it repeated now, that they would not fix it under warranty. I feel it should have been discovered the first time in april 2011, since it was a known problem and the bulletin was published before i even bought the car. Because it was not fixed the first time, i feel it should be covered under warranty. I was in danger both times when my car stalled in the roadway. This could have been fixed the first time and i would not have been in danger last night. I am in process of filing a complaint with gm.
