• Recall 107919 [USA]: These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling. an inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
  Chrysler (fca us llc) expanded the affected population to include 73,712 2005-2009 ram 2500 trucks produced at the st. Louis north assembly plant. • Recall 114694 [USA]: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

• Recall 82276 [USA]: This could allow the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction startling the driver, and cause a crash without warning.
  Chrysler is recalling 20,283 my 2006-2009 charger and magnum vehicles built with the police package and equipped with a column shifter. The gearshift cable may become disengaged from the steering column mounting bracket and cause an incorrect transmission gearshift position display.

• Recall 51301 [USA]: This can result in a decrease of braking force and the potential for an engine compartment fire.
  Certain passenger vehicles equipped with 2.7 liter engines and mk25e braking systems may exhibit inadequate clearance between the rear brake tubes and the exhaust gas recirculation tube. Contact between the brake tubes and exhaust gas recirculation tube over an extended period of time may cause the brake tubes to wear through and cause a brake fluid leak.
  dealers will inspect the rear brake tubes for damage and replace them free of charge. A clip will also be installed to secure the brake tubes to the right front shock tower to maintain proper clearance to the exhaust gas recirculation tube. The recall began on june 26, 2006. • Recall 59284 [USA]: If this occurs and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle may roll away and cause a crash without warning.
  On certain pickup trucks, sport utility and passenger vehicles equipped with 42rle automatic transmissions, the cup plug that retains the park pawl anchor shaft may be improperly installed. If the shaft moves out of position, the vehicle may not be able to achieve 'park' position.

• Recall 2016265 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will replace the airbag inflator. Note: canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected.

• Recall 2015228 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Note: this recall supersedes special service campaign 2015-003. Correction: dealers will replace airbag inflators. All vehicles having received a replacement inflator as part of the previous special service campaign will have a replacement inflator installed.

• Recall 2006102 [Canada]: Brakes
  On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.7l engine, the exhaust gas recirculation (egr) tube may contact the brake tubes, which may result in a brake fluid leak and potential engine compartment fire. A brake fluid leak may also result in extended stopping distances. Correction: dealers will inspect the brake tubes for damage and replace if necessary. A clip will also be installed to secure the brake tubes to the right front shock tower in order to maintain proper clearance to the egr tube.

• Desiccated air bag inflator rupture investigation as of 20210917

  From 2000 through 2017, takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("psan") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004l. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 blomquist report at www.Nhtsa.Gov/sites/nhtsa.Gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.Pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in us vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced.In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004l that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All takata inflators produced with propellant 2004l contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated psan inflators.It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- takata (now known as tk global), the independent testing coalition, and exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of takata desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004l (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004l is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l.The office of defects investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated psan frontal inflators manufactured by takata. This investigation will require extensive information on takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated psan inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.Gov/recalls?Nhtsaid=ea21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). • Air bag inflator rupture investigation as of 20150224

  The office of defects investigation (odi) opened pe14-016 in june 2014 based on six inflator rupture incidents involving consumer owned vehicles produced by five vehicle manufacturers.All six vehicles were operated in florida or puerto rico at the time of the rupture and for the majority of their service life, and were equipped with inflators produced by takata, a tier-one supplier of automotive air bag systems.During the course of pe14-016, odi determined that five additional vehicle manufacturers used inflators of a similar design and vintage also supplied by takata. No evidence of field failures was found in vehicles produced by these five additional manufacturers.Nonetheless, at odis insistence, all 10 vehicle manufacturers initiated a regional recall within approximately two weeks of the opening of the investigation.The regions recalled initially included florida, puerto rico, hawaii, and the u.S. Virgin islands, areas with high absolute humidity and climatic conditions believed to be a significant factor in the inflator ruptures.As part of the recall actions, inflators removed from remedied vehicles are to be returned to takata for testing.Takatas initial test results on passenger inflators from remedied vehicles indicated a much higher than anticipated rupture frequency for inflators returned from florida.Accordingly odi requested all 10 manufacturers expand the regional recalls for passenger inflators to include other geographic areas where high absolute humidity conditions exist, including the gulf states and other coastal areas.Takatas testing of the passenger inflators to date continues to indicate this geographic area as having the highest risk, with no ruptures occurring from inflators returned from outside the expanded recall regions.During pe14-016 four additional passenger inflator field events occurred, all in vehicles from the same expanded geographic region.Also during pe14-016 four additional driver inflator field events occurred including two in vehicles from regions not known for high absolute humidity, specifically california and north carolina.Accordingly, odi requested all five of the affected vehicle manufacturers currently using the subject takata driver inflators expand to nationwide recalls.Significantly, neither of the affected vehicle manufacturers or takata provided any explanation to account for these two driver air bag inflator ruptures outside the area of high absolute humidity.Takata testing of returned driver inflators indicates a lower rupture frequency as compared to passenger inflator testing.All test ruptures reported by takata to date have occurred on inflators returned from high absolute humidity areas.The investigation now includes all manufacturers and vehicles known to be affected at this time.Odis investigation will focus on, among other things, root cause analysis, other potential defect consequences, identification of affected vehicles scope, and adequacy of the remedy.The five odi reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.Nhtsa.Dot.Gov/owners/searchnhtsaid under the following identification numbers: 10537899, 10568848, 10585224, 10605877, 10651492

• Engine stall investigation as of 20130509

  During pe13-016, chrysler identified a condition in model year (my) 2005 through 2006 chrysler 300, dodge charger and magnum vehicles equipped with 5.7l and 6.1l 8-cylinder hemi engines that may result in engine stall after refueling when the vehicle is stopped or travelling at low speeds. According to chrysler, the multifunction control valve (mfcv) fuel shutoff float integrated into 19-gallon fuel tanks can swell in a stuck open position allowing an overfill condition.This condition causes fuel to enter into the purge line which may result in engine stall after refueling.Chryslers investigation determined that the problem was related to dimensional changes/swelling of the float when exposed to fuels with high ethanol content.Chrysler and its supplier, stant, developed new fuel soak test requirements to address the condition and extended the warranty period on 19-gallon fuel tanks to lifetime coverage.The owner letter mailing began in january 2014.See the investigative file for copies of chryslers owner letter.The office of defects investigation (odi) analyzed 1262 complaints related to engine stall that were provided by chrysler or submitted to odi from consumers.In total, there were 299 unique reports indicating that the fuel system allowed an overfill condition after refueling, and the predominant failure mode identified involved stalling when stopped or travelling at low speeds.The complaint counts shown in this resume include incidents in which enough detail was available to verify the symptoms were related to the defect condition identified by chrysler.The condition that is causing the majority of stalling incidents in the subject vehicles occurs at a stop or low speed and allows the vehicle to be restarted immediately.The condition represents a low risk to motor vehicle safety and is adequately addressed by chryslers extended warranty. The contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled without warning. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove to his destination. The failure recurred several times. The contact called and notified the local dealer of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.

Every time i fill my car up with gas and drive off from the gas station into on coming traffic the car will stall in the middle of the road i almost got hit in the side just yesterday. I got online and did some research and found out that there is a problem with the gas tanks on these cars that cause them to stall after putting gas in them.

Out of no where my car started stalling on me, took it to a mechanic, cleaned ground wires, changed o2 sensor, cleaned throttle body everything looks and sounds good, but the car stalls, while i'm driving, as well as at a stop, sometimes it completely shuts off and i loose all control including power steering, and sometimes just cuts off for half a second and turns itself back on, iv seen a lot of posts about the gas tank overfilling problem, as well as a ignition switch problem with these cars, i called the dealer but they said they can't address it since my vin isn't reported for those recalls. My car is unsafe to drive right now and i don't know why but there's reports of manufacturer faults.

Purchased vehicle as is on 03/16/2021 at date of purchase vehicle had almost 200,000 miles on it it needed front end lower control arms and bushings replacement on both driver and passenger sides the air conditioning didn't work due to the ac compressor being no good so the compressor had to be replaced as well the driver side window wouldn't go down regulator. Had to be brought and replaced as well also at the time of purchase in which vehicle was sold as is with a malfunctioning seatbelt issue in which the driver's side seatbelt was fastened and will not unfasten the passenger side seatbelt works however the cars sensor beeps and flashes indicating that someone is in the passenger seat without their seatbelt on even with the seatbelt being fastened without an actual body or weight being in the seat at all.... Since compressor has been replaced car has started running hot coolant and water has to currently be added just for regular daily use

After filling fuel to proper level the vehicle shakes and as car continues to drive at normal speeds car shuts down and loses steering and power. This may be related to the fuel tank issue these have with the built in valves. The fuel pump works just fine so i know its not that. Again symptoms only happen when filling the gas tank to full which is the proper level. I don't understand why this car was not recalled along with the rest. Although i'm starting to be really hesitant of ever buying any dodge or chrysler vehicle again.

Car stalls after fill up. Pull into traffic and you lose steering breaks ect. Need to put in park to restart. Will continue and miss and stall for about 5 miles. Once you run some fuel out of the car it runs exceptional until the next fill up.

Bought the 2006 dodge charger. We filled with gas a couple miles from the dealer. When leaving the gas station the car stalled in front of oncoming traffic. I have 2 problems. First while driving all my warning lights will flash on then go right off. Another problem i have is my car will turn over and sometimes start but die immediately. Once i get it started it will go fine for a while before doing it again. By the looks of my research both problems are pretty common in 2006 chargers.

Car will run fine one day next day it won't, car cuts off when stopping an stop sign or light. Car jerks when pressing gas pedal too hard, gas odors coming from muffler.

Pcm shuts down briefly without warning at seemingly random times, although this seems to be more common when accelerating from stationary such as at a stoplight. Sometimes the outrage is extremely short and there is a ding from the instrument cluster, sometimes it is longer with one or more warning lights illuminate briefly including the electronic throttle, and sometimes the cel will illuminate. Outage never seems to last more than a fraction of a second. If the cel comes on the code is U0100 lost comm. W/pcm. If speed is above about 15 mph the engine doesn't actually stop, there's just a big jolt, as if they hey had been turned off and then rapidly back on. At slower speeds the engine stops and must be restarted with the key. This has resulted in near accidents when pulling into traffic and suddenly stopping. Dealer had the car for a week, at first couldn't duplicate but when it did happen they couldn't diagnose. They reprogrammed the tcm and changed the transmission fluid and filter (which were due anyway) and replaced the battery for lack of any better ideas. This problem can go a week or two without happening or happen 10 times in 3 days. I added a recording voltmeter to monitor key voltages in and out of the pcm (measured and recorded approximately 20 times per second) and this showed the first sign of trouble is the auto shutdown relay control voltage out of the pcm going to zero while the battery voltage and keyswitch 'run' voltages both remained high(~14.2 volts). I replaced the pcm with a refurbished one (could not locate a new replacement) and the problem was not observed for two months, but then resumed. Multiple similar reports on the internet, mostly related to filling the gas tank but my problem has no correlation to refueling or fuel level.

I took my 06 charger in for airbag recall and when i left the dealer my car shut off at every lights and shut off in the middle of going 40 50 miles an hour. It continues to do that more and more everyday. I've read on the internet about so many of the 6th generation dodge chrysler products doing this exact same thing. I can understand why a problem that causes you to stall out in the middle of a busy intersection is not addressed. First it start telling me that it was electronic throttle control problem, then it's now telling me that is a problem between the throttle control module and the ecm. This happened exactly one minute after i left the dealer getting my airbags recalled. It stalls at when stationary, when moving, in the middle of the street, and every couple minutes. I know i am not alone with this problem but i don't understand why nothing is being addressed.

Turning onto on-ramp of a highway i was moving about 20 miles an hour when the engine died and i lost power steering. Additionally, i felt a very tough transmission shift 2-3 seconds before i lost power steering and when the engine died. The car took multiple attempts to turn over. A very loud whirring noise began in the engine/transmission area and is yet to stop.

Sometimes after filling the fuel tank full with gasoline, when driving the car, the engine stalls and quits. It can be a bit difficult to restart. I have only had this happen on city streets because those are the only places i normally drive.

My 2006 dodge charger has developed a stalling issue every time i fill with gas. I have tried different things as far as not filling to the top or not topping it off with gas. I filled with gas along an interstate and when i was trying to get on the interstate it quit on me down the off ramp when i was to merge with traffic. Was able to get car to the side of the interstate and re-start but died again. Started again and then it ran with no issues. Now it has issues every time it is gassed up. I filled up yesterday and same thing died out at a stop sign trying to get on the highway. I have heard this is a big issue with these cars and i'm surprised that there hasn't been anything done to dodge to fix this issue. I've heard it could cost up to $1,500 to fix. There is a recall k#39 for 2005-2007 dodge chargers for when the car will not leave the parked position. Even though this is what is going on with my car the dealership is saying my car is not covered in this recall. My main concern is they are unable to provide me with the 2005 and 2006 dates of cars that were affected!. I want clarification of why my car is not covered when it fits every description in the recall. They had me tow my car to the dealership and now saying i have to pay for it to be fixed.

After fueling car up, i traveled a short distance, stopped at the main intersection of the city i was driving in, the light changed, i accelerated to turn left and my charger died right in the middle of busy intersection. I had my daughter with me, so i told her to get out and push, scared that i was going to be t-boned. Came out and went to start car and it sounded like a popcorn popper full of metal and started smoking so bad it filled entire parking lot with smoke so thick that you couldn't see 3 feet beyond your face.. So had to pull car home and when i pulled valve cover and plugs on left side i noticed meral shavings in cylinder 1 and plugs in cylinder 4 were completely smashed smashed in on themselves ( gap gone ).. Apparently the valve seats dropped into cylinders and puctured pistons... I have looked online and it seems that this has been a pretty regular occurrence with other 2006 hemi chargers...

I called the chrysler recall center and they said my vin was not included on the lifetime replacement /fix for this issue. They told me that the issue was 'vin specific'. After filling up with fuel my charger will stall. It has happened 5 or 6 separate occasions over the past 2 years. I generally do not fill the car up all the way because of this. However just today i had the same problem after accidentally filling it. I do not top off the car when filling once the nozzle clicks off i stop. Today after getting gas i went to pull out into traffic and the car stalled. The power steering would not work the engine shut off and i was stranded halfway out into the lane of oncoming traffic. I put the car in park and restarted it and drove about 20 feet before it shut off again. This is a huge safety issue. I thought i was going to be hit. Car will shut off going 45 mph, at a stop light (0 mph) or when crossing traffic intersections for examples (at most going 10 or 15 mph). I will attempt to restart and the car will start up, stall up and then shut off again - when this happens, i lose power steering. I have to switch gears from drive to park and then turn the car off and then on again in hopes it will start. As you're driving, you can feel when the car is about to cut off, it throttles ahead a bit and revs, then the car beeps and turns off, while the gear is in drive and turning my wheel does nothing. I notice that this issue would usually happen after a fill up my gas tank, so i started only filling up halfway ,but the issue still persists. This issue became heavily frequent yesterday where the car stalled and cut off at least 4 different times while making a 7 mile drive back home. This was very very scary in my eyes, especially with a passenger in my seat. This is a huge safety concern because the vehicle is shutting off while in motion and powering steering is lost. If this happens on the highway going 60+ miles per hour, or turning into oncoming traffic, there is a guaranteed accident, possibly resulting in serious injury or death. I believe there is an issue with the gas tank and the evap canister that causes the sensors to think that gas is overfilling the engine, which shuts off the car. Takata inflators. When i fill the tank with gas and start driving it will sputter, jerk and stall. When it stalls and i finally get it started, i press on the gas lightly it doesn't move and then it lunges forward. If if the car is moving the engine will usually catch and restart but due to the way the transmission operates, there is a period of time before the transmission reengages so the car acts as if it is in neutral which is extremely dangerous and has caused many close calls with conflicting traffic at intersections. A quick search on google will show this is a chronic problem with these cars and there is no known root cause and dodge has not done anything to investigate the root cause. As a result it has been left to the owner to spend potentially thousands of dollars for parts swapping to troubleshoot the problem but with little success. In most cases the problem is never resolved or simply returns shortly after being "fixed" by the dealer. Note: this is not related to the gas tank issue which has similar symptoms. This odor is most prevalent when you first start the car and remains.The odor is strongest when the car is started and the ac is on, the odor is made worse by switching the ac selector to pull in air from outside the vehicle. I was in line at tim horton's, i had ordered, but not yet paid. I had my foot on the brake (car was stationary), and the as the car in front of me moved up, i depressed the brake to roll the car forward. The car began accelerating on it's own. With my foot still on the brake, i pushed the brake to the floor at which point the abs struggled to slow the acceleration down. The result of the incident is my car only came to a stop once i hit the car in front of me. I looked down once the car stopped moving and clearly only saw my foot on the brake with the brake pressed all the way to the floor. Luckily the only real damage was some flaked paint on the front of my car. The other car, as well as myself decided the issue was not worth reporting to the insurance companies. I immediately called my dad, who told me to call the dealer. I then called the dealer whom said do not drive the car, and get the car towed to them for diagnosis. The car was towed to the dodge/jeep dealership in which i bought the car in 2007. This issue has never happened before, in the 11 years i've owned the car.

Door locks lock and unlock automatically when fob is in range. Continuously chirping. When key inserted on driver side ( only door site to insert key) the door locks and unlocks continuously while chirping. ( battery to fob new).Extremely sensitive to slightest touch or hover; door locks have a mind of their own( up and down repetively).Once unlocked, alarm goes off until key is inserted into ignition to silence. May take 3-4 minutes to enter car. Pose danger at night or during inclement weather. Vehicle performed the above stationary but have been locked out while car was running after key inserted; door closed manually after unlocked and car locked by itself when door closed instantly. While driving the car loses power and slows down, the engine is running rough and when pulled over the side of the road, the car will not move at all. The shifter will move through the gears however the car will not move(automatic transmission). After turning the vehicle off and restarting the car runs normal until the next episode( occurred the last 3 times car has been driven). This is hazardous especially in traffic. Currently setting up appointment with dodge dealership to address problem however no caution light is appearing on the dash. This malfunction happens at any speed on highway or city street.

After dropping my daughter at school that day in my car, i went home and parked the vehicle in my driveway. When i went to pick her up that afternoon my car would not turn over. It never left my driveway before it was towed to a mechanic. Dodge hemi 5.7 l are notorious for premature engine failure due to a manufacturing defect. The valve seat drops into the piston causing catastrophic and sudden engine failure. The reason for my complaint has nothing to do with the cost involved to replace my transportation. The damage has been said and done. The reason for this complaint is the thought that my car's engine happened to fail minutes before my daughter was in the car. Honestly, if the engine failure would have happened while the car was in motion, whether it be it in a 20 mph school zone or on the freeway at 70 mph to her favorite store to get a treat after school; i probably would've not known what to do. This defect could have very well caused a wreck hurting me my eight-year-old daughter and possibly other people. I truly just don't want this to happen to someones little girl or anybody. The car stalled as i was driving. I have looked up this issue before and people have said it has something to do with the fuel tank. A dealership has replaced the fuel tank a few months back and today it stalled again. This is the first time this has happened since replacing the fuel tank. It appears this is a bigger problem than just the fuel tank. There should be a recall placed before people are seriously hurt and/or killed. The car shuts off while driving. If it is on the freeway then it'll be catastrophic on what can happen. The car also loses steering when it shuts off causing a bigger problem.

There is deterioration in the upper parts of the filler pipe. The vent (can't recall the proper name) causes the sensors to think that gas is overfilling which shuts off the car (like some cars that will not start if the gas cap is not on completely.) replacing this part will not solve the problem long term.

2006 dodge charger daytona r/t 5.7 hemi valve seat dropped at 144k miles. Always dealer serviced. Always on schedule, plugs, oil air filter everything. Issue leading up to it was random multiple cylinder misfire stemming from faulty water temp sensor, which was fixed. Dropped valve seat when briefly turning of vehicle after dropping family home prior to going to work. Motor needs to be replaced. Just prior to failure spent around $4k to make sure the car was running perfect. Mechanic had told me the car was in perfect running order and compression was like it was almost brand new. Engine should have easily made it to 250k miles. Contacted chrysler who pretty much lied and told me this was not a common occurrence. Dealer was not willing to help me towards the repair. If this valve seat dropped 30 seconds earlier, it would have locked up in the middle of the freeway putting the lives of my family and myself at risk. This is a widespread and known issue and chrysler is not doing anything about it. This is a disgrace.

After i filled up on gas i drove out of the station and a block later while traveling 35 mph my car completely turned off and the oil light came on. I could not steer or brake. I got out of the road put it in park and it started right up. I decided to drive two blocks farther to the oil change place and it did it again just died while driving down a busy street but started right up. The first time it happened, i didn't know and got the tow truck to tow the car and had the police to come behind me because in his words, i was in an unsafe location, so that no other oncoming vehicles would hit me. The car will start moving and i will begin driving when the car dies and i lose power steering. I took it to a mechanic and they said that it is a known safety issue with 2006 dodge chargers. The fuel tank and the evap canister needs to be replaced.

My car will not accelerate over 40mph. I went to the mechanics and it said that the transmission computer isn't functioning correctly. I looked up this issue online and this is an ongoing issue with these cars. I contacted dodge they said since there is no recall then they can't do anything.

Two years ago i had to replace the engine while driving the car all the lights came on and it lost power while driving at approximately 40 mph. Yesterday while on the highway going 65 mph the car lost power. This is very unsafe especially on the highway.

We have a 2006 dodge charger rt daytona 'top banana'. Car was driving fine til one day my mom drove home from train station (less than 5 miles). She went in to change clothes then went to leave again. Car wouldn't start up, loud banging noise coming from under hood as well as engine appeared to be shaking violently. Had towed to shop. Once there, car started to smoke and shop said there was hole in the piston and engine could not be repaired. Shop estimate was 7,000 total. Could not afford at the time so the car sat in our driveway for months.Car just had new rebuilt engine, as well as new intake manifoldwater pump, and other new parts that were damaged due to the engine . I will include photos of the engine etc.

Started engine and violently started shaking and then shut the engine off an restarted fine. While merging onto the highway on ramp moments later the car shut off and was unable to start again. The vehicle had to get towed on the highway on ramp. Engine has been deemed unfix-able by automotive shop an a new one must be used to replace it.

When i fill up the gas tank of my vehicle, starts properly and runs good for a few minutes then stalls, pull to the side of the road, start again and runs fine for a few more minutes and then it does it again, vehicle is in motion or stationary, it happen also twice when turning and power steering went out almost ran out of the road the first time and the second had to apply brakes hard in order to avoid collision with another vehicle, very un-safe and dangerous. When driven about 40-60 the problem goes away and then starts all over when gas tank is filled up again. I do not have photos, police report or any other documentation to upload and hope not to have any to get this issue resolved.

2004 to 2008 jeep dodge chrystler 5.7 hemi motors are prone to dropping valve seats which in turn shoot fragments of metal throughout destroying the motor. This is a well known defect with numerous documentaion online. The destruction of the motor can occur while driving or on first start up. The cost to replace the motor can range from 5,000 to 7,000 in repair cost to the consumer.

Takata recall my motor drop a valve inside the bottom of the motor causing it to destroy the motor there is a defect on 06 5.7 liters theres a component that doesn't push out enough oil to evenly distribute to all the valves i have taking this car to tire plus i have taking it to amacco brandon auto salvage an every mechanic has said the same thind the manufacturer knows the motor has defect instead of correcting the problem they are waiting for thisto just blow over. Its unfair i had this car for 3 months before the motor died 5000 to fix this i cant afford to fix it an me an my family are stuck catching the bus . I had the car in my drive way ran in the house while the car was running an came out tge engine was making a loud grinding sound. Please help us these companies stay screwing the people in the world over

While driving after filling gas tank to full, vehicle stalled twice on way home. Both occurrences happened within a 5 minute period. Both occurrences happened with the vehicle in motion, on a city street.

I parked vehicle. When i stepped on the brake to shift the gear, it would not move. Also when i blow the horn it gets stuck or does not work at all after airbags were replaced because of recall. Car has been sitting in a parking lot since.

On august 31st i went to the bank and when i came out the bank the car turned on and start making noise i need turn off right away i could not turn it back on i have it towed to my house i check on the internet for what happened to me and it seems that there's many many people that have the same problem i went to the dealership talk to somebody where the mechanic places and they tell me that they have experienced a lot of these problems that is kind of common on this kind of cars especially for that year 2006 so it seems like dodge knows what's going on but nothing has been done yet i will appreciate it if you could get help to fix my car has less than a hundred thousand miles and it's just sitting on my driveway

I was driving home from work on the freeway and had to change lanes to go around a slower vehicle. As i depressed the accelerator pedal it snapped off and fell on the floor causing a hazardous condition as i could no longer control the speed of the vehicle. I was able to make it home by leaning down and depressing the pedal with my hand while holding on to the steering wheel with the other. I contacted dodge to try and get reimbursed for the repair that i made myself but they said they could not do anything for me. There are numerous complaints contained in on line forums about this happening to the same and/or similar chrysler vehicles.

Car keeps stalling randomly at stops. It will even stall while driving going up hills or on the highway. Most times it will not completely stall (studder) and continue on. If it does stall completely, sometimes takes a lot of effort to try and restart the engine. Check engine light will sometimes come and randomly turn off. Dtc shows P0700 and U0100. Lots of others having similar problems. Just google codes and look at all dodge/chrysler/jeep forums.

Has a blown motor and after having it checked by a mechanic it has been determine and told to me that it was a bad design from dodge this particular year with the charger engines because of the plastic cave seats melting and not allowing the oil to flow to the bottom half of engine and causing severe damage like my engine. Transmission stuck in park, safety release switch does nothing

The contact had to turn the vehicle off and back on in order for it to resume normal operation. The vehicle was taken to cerritos dodge chrysler jeep ram (18803 studebaker rd cerritos, ca 90703, (888) 879-5229) where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for additional diagnostic testing, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Vehicle was parked in drivieway, partially blocking in other vehicles in garage, and automatic transmission shifter could not be moved out of park on the morning of 6/29/17, stranding vehicle from being moved by owner. I then looked online using google search and found problem listed under chrysler recall of some 2005-2007 charger/magnum/300 models, and found instructions on how to temporarily insert screwdriver into side of transmission shift lever assembly by removing one piece of trim, and was able to then drive over to darcars chrysler/jeep/dodge rockville, maryland dealership to drop for recall repair. I left vehicle and then was told by service dept staff next day on 6/30/17 that my vin number was not part of recall, and would cost me $510 out of pocket to replace the entire transmission shifter assembly rather than replace the small cheap plastic known chrysler defect that has probably already happened to thousands of chargers/magnums/300s. Lucky for me this did not happen in an emergency situaiton where i needed to move my car immediately to go to hospital, or avoid a flash fllood, hurricane, or tornado or the problem could have resulted in a total loss of the vehicle and possible injury or loss of life. In addition, i did more research and found the $16 part online needed to fix the problem, along with many videos on how to fix it yourself, and ordered it on 6/30/17 and had the car repaired myself at home on 7/2/17 a few hours after receiving the part in the mail. Chrysler should make this a recall for all affectred vehicles because the cost to repair it in parts and labor is very cheap, since i estimate they could do the same job in about 30 minutes and the part would only cost them maybe under $5. See attached recall and $16 part cost when ordered on amazon.

I was driving home from work, going about 40 mph on the freeway all of the sudden engine starts running rough. Pulled over, turned off car and was never able to turn it on again. Took it to the mechanic.. He said i had a broken seat valve, everything damaged...Need to replace engine. After looking up online it seems it is a known defect with the hemi engine from 2005-2006.

I been online looking for this kinda problem and it looks like everyone has this problem but there is not recall and this is extremely dangerous, can whenever you fill up the tank and the level from the gas shuts off on it's own, meaning not overfilling. The car stalls at lot in low rpms and hesitates alot, car shuts off and steering wheel lock making this extremely dangerous, tank is 19 gallos, once you waste 1-2 gallos of gas everything goes back to normal, have change already purge valve in front of the car, also the evap leak detection pump and nothing, everyone online has this problem and no one has a fixed. No engine lights comes on, sometimes a misfire, changed map sensor, camshaft sensor, crank sensor, mass airflow sensor, spark plugs wires, injectors and plugs and still the same. When i run torque app from android store it says evap cap off on red, like that test it never pass. Something with gas related i guess

The car keeps stalling while driving at any speed and also at at complete stop. Like a red light or stop sign. I love my car but chrysler needs to do something about this dangerous issue. I don't understand, with this being a common issue with the 06 model. Why isn't there a recall on these cars. I only have 62k on it and i keep up with the maintenance. Speedometer quit working, car jumps hard into reverse and drive, will not shift out of first gear, code U0100, U1120, U0121, U0103, replaced computer and had no change of condition, no transmission dipstick to check fluid, a must take to dealer item that is not sensible.

Takata recall i received another postcard this week reminding me that i need to get my airbags replaced. I checked your website for parts availability and found that both s43 and r45 are both available. I called firkins in bradenton fl to schedule my replacement of both airbags, only to find out that they only have the driver's side airbag in stock. I have been waiting for both parts to be available so that i would only have to make one appointment. Can you find out when the passenger side airbag replacement will be available? Thank you.

" takata recall" bought my 2006 dodge charger last march had it for 3 days the engine blew. Replaced the engine with a v6 2008 2.7 with only 57000 . About 6 months after started to get the lightning bolt .Then stalling with the lightning bolt while driving 55mph on the highway and in the city it also does it at stop signs and sometimes wont start back right away.. I have no codes no check engine light no warning. My dash lights and head lights flicker especially while driving. We tried everything to fix this i'm very scared to drive my car anywheres.. Please help figure out whats going on with these problems. We already replaced the computer, gas pedal, sensors and the engine. Mileage on the body 260000 on the second engine 63000.

My 2006 dodge charger hemi police interceptor i purchased from the state of oregon at 137,000 randomly dies. The lightning bolt warning light comes on. The electronic throttle control code comes on. The car has been to the dealer and the pcm $750 has been replaced and the plugs $350 have been replaced as well. I also get tcm codes. My car has died at very dangerous times, when passing or merging into traffic. The dealer doesn't know what's causing it.

Immediately after a fuel fill up the engine will stall several times in forward or reverse. This will continue until the engine has operated for 4 to 5 minutes. The engine has failed on me several times at intersections and when pulling onto roadways...Very dangerous place to stall. There have been many reports made to the nhtsb and dodge forums on this issue. I just had my fuel cannister replaced and the problem remains.

While merging onto the interstate my engine shut completely off; i lost power steering and all throttle control. After pulling onto the side of the road i was able to turn the ignition on and drive away like normal. I have a 5.7l hemi and the car has 37,700 miles.

Vehicle stalls out while driving or sitting at traffic control devices. Sometimes after refueling. Mostly at times while driving 55 or 60 mph and while slowing to turn causing the car to lose all powers. Check engine light, oil and etc all come on when this happens. This vehicle only has 48,000 original miles. Very dangerous while driving with my precious grandbabies in the car. Have had to the car to two dodge dealerships and they can not find a problem. I have even replace the computer and it did not correct the performance of the vehicle.

Takata recall fca has yet to repair my airbag inflators as of 19 march 2017 in response to takata passenger airbag recall s43 issued on 26 may 2016. This is an unacceptable amount of time to wait given the severity of the issue.

Takata recall the suspension is shot. I am having to replace the my tires due to the bushings being junk and have ate my tires away on the inside down to the metal due to the toe positioning being incorrect. The control arms have been changed, but i am in fear the rear camber may be completely out. Also, sometimes my car does not want to turn over, but yet the battery, starter and alternator are fine. Also, my electrical system is a mess. I can't roll down my window unless i shut off my air or heat. Then when i turn on my air or heat all my interior lights go out. Plus, sometimes my tachometer doesn't want to work. I have replaced the engine and transmission, it is always maintained, but yet i feel like i am about to have to dump thousands of dollars into this cheaply made suspension. I have seen several charger owners of the same year stating they have had these issues and if a recall can not be done then a class action lawsuit should be put into motion. I'm hoping dodge will give us a chance to keep their customers, because at this morning i am ready to give up. I have always been a dodge fan, but this time, on my favorite looking car, you all have dropped the ball!

When i fill the car up and it stops the fuel pump automatically, i close the gas cap and start the car. When i drive off it will stall. It will start back up right after but i have been making a turn after leaving the gas station and the car has stalled leaving me with no power steering or brakes. It only does this when i fill the car up. Because of this issue i can only fill the car 3/4 of the way up.

After filling the fuel tank and pulling into traffic the car stalls which is very dangerous considering cars approaching or following you could crash into you . This happens each time i fuel up.

On feb 25th i put gas in my vehicle, later that day i noticed a high gasoline scent from my car. Ie; 10 days prior i had my vehicle serviced at my local arrigo dodge dealership. I waited until the next to see if the smell had gone away, assuming i had put bad gas in my car. The next day before i could open my car doors i could smell the gasoline from standing outside my car. Still assuming i had bad gas i decided to drive out as much of the gas as possible. When i realized the smell would not go away, i went online and did some research, which lead to this being a common problem with the dodge vehicles, i watched multiple videos and read multiple comments. On feb 27th i followed some steps from videos. I took my back seat out lifted the guard and pulled of the fuel pump cover, and low and behold there was gas. This is a fire hazard. I drive my mother and my daughter in my car, anything could have happened. I called dodge customer service on feb 28th to report the problem to see if there was a recall, seeing that i was not the only one with this issue and complaint. Dodge was not much help. This problem that dodge ignores has cost me emotional distress and more money than i expect to spend to fix. Dodge shows no interest or care in this case as this being a hazard. I am completely disappointed in the way dodge is dealing with this issue. The representative that i spoke with did not give me any for of ease or comfort or offer any assistance on how this can be fixed. While it may seem like an easy fix to that rep, this problem goes beyond just fixing. Its a fire hazard and dodge needs to look further into this. Maybe when something drastic happens on this account i guess that when it may matter to this company. I my self have taken multiple pictures and videos.

The last time i filled up my car, it kept stalling and i would lose power steering and brakes while in traffic with my children in car. Not very safe feeling. Scared i was going to get hit with family in car. It would start up but it would keep stalling until i ran a few gallons out of it. I filled it up again today and noticed a sucking noise coming from gas tank. It started up then stalled as i took off. So i pulled over and kept starting it up every time it stalled. After about an hour of not stalling i drove home and parked in garage. It would stall going straight and turning.

The vehicle will stall at a stop sign or stop light. The lights will flicker and the gauges will go to the max amounts and then back to zero. The car restarts and runs fine after this happens, but it keeps reoccurring.

Major safety issue. After refueling, my vehicle stalls anywhere from 1-6 times at random times. It happens at highway speeds, and city driving. There is a total loss of power (brakes and steering included) had a very close call of causing an accident due to this issue. This issue is supposedly covered by extended lifetime warranty but my vin is not "eligible" for some reason. In order to fix the issue, the gas tank has to be replaced $1500+ expense. Very disappointed that dodge abandon my here. Even though im experiencing the issue, im not eligible because my vin range missed the lifetime warranty.

Drove the car to get a car wash. Car went through the cleaning process and they were going to start to the car and it wouldn't start. Had to have it pushed to the side of the building, after a while the car started but idled very rough and blueish smoke was coming out of the exhaust pipes. Took it to a mechanic and they said it's a blown head gasket along with valves dropping into the cylinder causing engine failure. No pre warning and i was very religious with maintenance. This is a known issue that should be fixed by dodge. Now i need to buy a new car.

Engine stalls several times immediately after filling gas tank. This is very dangerous because you loose steering and power brakes in traffic. The dodge dealer says that it does this because there is gasoline in the vapor canister. I believe this is because something in the fuel tank is causing fuel to get into the canister where it does not belong. Changing the canister is not going to solve the problem. I am afraid to drive the car and i'm afraid to buy another dodge or chrysler.

My car completely shut off on me as i was driving it. This happened to me on 01/13/17 as i was leaving the gas station (after refueling). I was merging onto the freeway at the time, which turned out to be a blessing as i was able to merge into a safe location on the highway. My 2006 dodge charger completely died on me while driving at 40 mph. Luckily i was alone on a city road but lost all control and felt i was barley braking and steering was near impossible. I was able turn everything off in the car and restart but it happened 3 other times within 2 miles. At one point while turning left on a highway it died; i was almost to a point to hitting other cars turning left in same direction and others behind me. I was able to drive 4 miles today without incident however after researching this exact issue among other charger owners i searched for a recall and nothing has been said by dodge. This issue doesn't seem to be from personal actions but a flaw in a system on this make/model. It has happened to me twice before a few years ago however i read something about a gas cap and felt it was isolated. After last night and reading blogs today i see that this is a wide spread issue and not caused by not maintaining a vehicle or bad driving. This is an issue in design or manufacturing. Had this happened in any other driving setting during rush hour someone could be seriously injured or killed. I notified dodge and reported the issue by they said i would not be contacted and to keep receipts if something was wrong in case they do recall something. After filling up at a gas station, the car will stall out randomly at all speeds of travel. This is a huge safety issue that has sht down the car while merging onto freeway in front of semi-trucks only to have power steering and propulsion stop. Luckily truck was paying attention and honked and swerved around, while i rode off onto the shoulder. Then it restarted, ran for another minute and stalled again while trying to get back off the shoulder. I ended up letting it idle for 5 min before being able to merge successfully and get home. Online i have seen many people saying they have same or similar issues with their 2006 dodge vehicles as well. Please help to get this resolved as this could have very well killed someone.
