P0131

02 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank I Sensor I)

DTC P0131, sometimes indicated as P013100 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a generic fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the air/fuel mixture causing 02 sensor circuit low voltage (bank i sensor i).

A code P0131 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
The oxygen sensor wiring may be open or shorted
The oxygen sensor may be damaged
The PCM may be faulty
There are several things that can cause a P0131 code, including a bad oxygen sensor, wiring problems, or a bad PCM. If the code is intermittent, it may be caused by a poor connection at the sensor.
If the code is caused by a bad oxygen sensor, the sensor will need to be replaced.
If the code is caused by a wiring problem, the wiring will need to be fixed.
If the code is caused by a bad PCM, the PCM will need to be replaced.

2013 BUICK REGAL with 81290.0 miles

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 Buick Regal. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle loss acceleration, steering wheel became difficult to turn. In another when turn off the engine, the vehicle failed to start. A warning light illuminated roll driver side window up, the trunk open and the windshield wiper independently start to function. The vehicle was towed to ed martin Buick gmc, 9896 n michigan rd, carmel, in 46032, and was diagnosed that the timing chain detached. The vehicle was not repair due to the repair fees. Five code also came up, P0131, P0016, P0017, P0014 and P0171. And leaving the dealer, the vehicle failed to start and was towed to an independent mechanic where the timing chain, balance chaff, chain kit, timing cover gasket set, cam cover gasket set and two camshaft sensors, were replaced. The while leaving the independent mechanic, the vehicle loss acceleration, heat blowing at the flow board an unknown odor entered the vehicle cabin coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic and was informed to take the vehicle to a Buick dealer. While on the way to the dealer, the park to drive gear was clunking and jerking from 3rd to 2nd and 4th to 3rd. The vehicle was taken seven times to the same dealer. The contact mentioned that she taken the vehicle to a transmission shop but was unable to determine a failure. On another occasion, the vehicle loss acceleration and jerking in gears, heat entering the vehicle cabin and squealing. No check engine light illuminated and the battery cover was melted on one side. No indication on the overheat that level the temperature gage. The failure mileage was approximately 81,290.

2005 NISSAN ALTIMA

Hi, i am the owner of a 2005 Nissan Altima. I have owned this car since 2008. I reviewed service records from 2005 prior to my purchase. There has been an extremely large amount of issues with this vehicle. The most recent of which is the "grey" area of the ecm issue in coordination with famous the camshaft crankshaft fault P0355 & P0131. I'm an engineer and fully understand the mechanics of a vehicle. This sensor was a faulty design from the beginning in which oil could enter inside the sensor, therefore causing a short and disabling the entire vehicle while in motion. This actually happened to me and was a terrifying experience. To fix the issue cheaply, Nissan issued a recall to reprogram the ecm in order to recognize the ?Faulty? Crankshaft sensor part. But in order to save millions of dollars, Nissan would not include the warrantied replacement of the faulty crankshaft sensor design (magnet sensor). Instead, the consumer (myself) would have to pay between $300 & $450 to have the sensor replaced with the ?New & improved version?. New and improved means the properly designed version. The initial design should have been recalled but it wasn't. It doesn't take an engineer to figure this out but i am one and fully understand the ?Big picture? Of the recall and lack of inclusion of the crankshaft sensor repairs. I am requesting Nissan to cover the full cost of the camshaft & crankshaft sensor & the associated labor. I was put in harm?S way during the initial recall issue in which my car shut off while on the highway. That is a bad enough experience. I am not willing to also pay Nissan $400 to repair the faulty sensor which was a large part of why this occurred in the first place.

2001 FORD WINDSTAR with 80000.0 miles

Cel came on and subsequent diag code revealed P0171/P0174/P0131 codes as does everyone else with similar problems. Replaced isolator bolts, port seals, clamshell seal, 2 other seals, and front valve cover, pcv valve and vac line, and fuel reg vac line. First 2 codes cleared, but misfire remained. Removed intake 2x and cleaned all seals, egr ports, and oil accumulation from inside intake. P0131 code remains. Next step is new spark plugs and wires (only 10,000 miles on new platinum plugs). Also have intermittent abs/brake system lights come on as they wish and go off when vehicle turned off. When is Ford going to step up and admit there is a problem with this entire vehicle ? I will not take my vehicle to a dealership to get ripped off for over $600 when it costs me $120 in parts alone to replace the tsb seals and intake bolts. I guess we shall see how long until my transmission goes out (knock on wood i made over 80,000 miles so far).
