• Recall 155331 [USA]: An electrical short within the abs module may cause an engine compartment fire, even when the vehicle is turned off, increasing the risk of an injury.
  Kia motors america (kia) is recalling certain 2006-2010 sedona and 2007-2009 sorento vehicles. Moisture may enter the anti-lock brake (abs) module and result in an electrical short.
  kia will notify owners, and dealers will install a relay in the main junction box to prevent power from being directed to the hecu when the vehicle's ignition switch is turned off, free of charge. • Recall 114551 [USA]: If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
  Kia motors corporation (kia) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 kia sedona vehicles manufactured from june 15, 2005, through april 04, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.
  kia will notify owners and dealers will replace the secondary hood latch or clean and lubricate the latch, depending on the vehicle's location and the condition of the latch. • Recall 118983 [USA]: A broken control arm can result in the loss of control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Kia motors corporation (kia) is recalling certain model year 2006-2012 kia sedona vehicles manufactured from june 15, 2005, through august 14, 2012 and originally sold in, or currently registered in alaska, connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, kansas, kentucky, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, nebraska, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, north dakota, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, south dakota, utah, vermont, west virginia, wisconsin and the district of columbia. In the affected vehicles, the front lower control arms may break due to corrosion from salt water exposure such as from road salt use.

• Recall 99914 [USA]: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. additionally, when the ignition is in the 'on' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of park without first applying the brake. this may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
  Kia motors corporation (kia) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 rondo, model year 2007-2011 sedona, sorento and sportage, model year 2010-2011 soul, model year 2008-2011 optima, model year 2010 forte, model year 2007-2009 amanti, and model year 2009 borrego vehicles. Originally, in april 2013, kia recalled 623,658 model year 2007-2010 rondo and sportage, model year 2007-2011 sorento, model year 2007 sedona, model year 2010-2011 soul, and model year 2011 optima vehicles. In september 2013, kia informed the agency that it was adding an additional 356,719 vehicles to this campaign. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 980,377. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the park position and cause the electronic stability control (esc) malfunction light to illuminate.

  The front suspension lower suspension arms may corrode due to insufficient coating of the steel on the inner surfaces. Excessive corrosion could cause weakening of the arms (thinning of metal). Gradual weakening of the lower suspension arms. Customers are unlikely to notice any symptoms but may notice juddering from suspension area. Ultimately the arm could fracture.
  the front suspension lower arms will be checked for corrosion and the thickness of the steel measured. If the thickness of the steel is sufficient the cavities will be filled with cavity wax to prevent corrosion. If the thickness of the steel is below the minimum the arms will be replaced.

• Recall 2020064 [Canada]: Brakes
  Issue: on certain vehicles, moisture can enter the brake hydraulic electronic control unit (hecu) and cause a short circuit. Safety risk: a short circuit could create a fire risk. This can happen even if the vehicle is parked. Corrective actions: kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to install a relay to power off the hecu when the vehicle is turned off. Kia recommends that you should park your vehicle outdoors, and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed.

  On certain gasoline and hybrid engine vehicles, the circuits within the airbag control unit may become damaged. This could cause the airbags and seat belt pretensioners to not deploy in certain collisions where deployment is warranted, which could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.   On certain vehicles, the secondary hood latch could corrode, and may result in the mechanical binding of the latch. This could cause the secondary hood latch to remain in the open position when the hood is closed. If the vehicle were to be driven with the primary hood latch disengaged, there is a potential that the secondary hood latch may not hold the hood closed as designed while the vehicle is in motion. If this were to occur, it could compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield. These issues could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the secondary latch with an improved secondary latch with an enhanced corrosion coating.

Manufacturer recall code sc186 repairs were completed on 7/2/20. Recall was due to fluid leaking from abs into the electrical system and could cause car to catch fire.. On 12/21/20, power steering pump replaced and 4 new tires installed. All service/repair done at dealership. On 1/14/21, driver was on morning commute and when exiting the highway, the engine made clicking noises. A few miles later on local roads, driver approached the slight incline into parking lot at work. At the bottom of the incline, the van completely stopped and stalled out. Driver pushed accelerator, car did not move forward. Driver noticed "steam" coming from under hood. Driver turned off ignition, exited vehicle to call a tow truck. Within 10 minutes, heavy smoke and flames were coming from under the hood. Fire department and police arrived to extinguish the fire. No notable weather events. Insurance company will most likely call a complete loss of vehicle. We maintainied our 2010 kia sedona very well, with 85,000 miles. Our concern is that after the recall repairs were done, that the vehicle still caught fire.

Rear side doors won't unlock and are hard to open on occasion. Took early on when it was new they could not recreate the problem at times i took. Now it is 10 years later and problem is more persistent. Has been a recurring problem.

Break switch sticking causing the break lights to stay on , esc doesn't work causing the accelerator to stop working and the cruise control stops working. I was pulling out from a stop and my vehicle would not go above an idle. I had to stop in the middle of the road, put the vehicle into neutral before i could continue on my way.

The contact owns a 2010 kia sedona. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was being serviced under manufacturer recall number: sc135. The contact stated after the vehicle was serviced, she started to smell exhaust fumes inside and outside the vehicle. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

There is no way to get out of the tailgate on this vehicle, and no way to open the tailgate at all. While sitting still, with the engine running and without the engine running, the tailgate will not unlock in any of the three unlocking modes: using the remote fob, using the key in the drivers door, or operating the unlock switch on the interior drivers door panel. There is no exterior key access on the tailgate, and no interior door release or unlocking mechanism. There is no way to get into, or out of, the tailgate without removing the interior tailgate panel. Internet searches indicate this is a known problem on this model. Is it legal to have no access to open the tailgate from inside the vehicle? The door locking mechanism is now silent when trying to get it to operate, and no longer clicks when attempting to unlock it. The owner's manual indicates the tailgate lock is on the same fuse as the rear sliding doors, and they continue to unlock as normal in all three unlocking modes described above.
