  • Recall 42656 [USA]: Failure of two of the three bolts could result in the loss of steering, which could result in loss of vehicle control and crash without warning.
On certain truck chassis, the steering gear mounting bolts were made of inconsistent bolt material, which has led to bolt failures. This inconsistent bolt material condition could result in a failure of a steering gear mounting bolts. The steering gear is mounted to the vehicle's frame with three bolts.
dealers will inspect vehicles. New steering gear mounting bolts will be installed. The recall began october 2004. Owners should contact mack at 1-610-709-3337.

  • Recall 34673 [USA]: This could cause ice buildup on the discharge side of the primary and secondary pressure system allowing the relief system to freeze and become blocked resulting in over pressurization of the lng tanks creating the risk of catastrophic tank rupture which could cause serious injury or death.
On certain chassis built with lng engines, the nexgen lng tank's primary and secondary relief valves could fail to open and relieve tank pressure.
dealers will retrofit the lng tanks with a new primary relief valve pipe away tube and a new ventilated shroud. The recall began april 6, 2004. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact mack at 1-610-709-3337.

  • Recall 34811 [USA]: The ball stud could become loose, causing loss of steering control which could result in a crash.
On certain chassis equipped with dana steering axle assemblies. These axles are built with an integral knuckle and steering arm. The steering arm could have longitudinal cracks.
dealers will inspect the integral knuckle and steer arm and replace if necessary. Owner notification began on january 16, 2004. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact mack at 1-610-709-3337.
customers can contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

  • Recall 62403 [USA]: In this condition, the vehicle would not meet the emergency requirements of the standard.
Certain heavy duty vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 121, "air brake systems." improper seating of the check valve retainer in the brass fitting housing has occurred. It is possible for the air brake system pressure to push the check valve internal parts into the primary system reservoir and a vehicle operator would not know that this has happened.
dealers will replace the check valve. Owner notification began november 26, 2003. Owners should contact mack at 1-610-709-3337.
mack recall no. SC0281.Customers can also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

  • Recall 2007278 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain trucks, the engine configuration makes servicing fuel injection lines difficult when using traditional tools. It is possible for fuel leaks to develop following recall campaign 2006258 (mack sC0317) or when line removal is required to gain access to other engine components. Underhood fuel leakage could result in a vehicle fire. Correction: dealers will install an updated fuel injection line that offers better clamping surface when torqued. This will be done using specially designed tools to ensure correct torque is applied.

  • Recall 2006258 [Canada]: Fuel supply
On certain trucks, a leak in the fuel injection line may spray fuel on the exhaust gas recirculation (egr) pipes. The hot egr pipes could ignite the fuel, causing an underhood fire. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the fuel injection lines. A protective sleeve will be installed over the lines. Note: recall cancelled, see tc 2007102

  • Recall 2005009 [Canada]: Fuel supply
On certain vehicles, the location of the fuel hose used on the aset ac engine may result in overheating and/or abrasion of the hose, which may lead to a premature failure. If the hose fails, fuel can be sprayed on the exhaust manifold, which could potentially lead to an engine compartment fire. Correction: dealers will replace the fuel inlet hose.

  • Recall 2004046 [Canada]: Steering
On certain vehicles, the steering arm could have a longitudinal crack. The crack may intersect the tapered mounting hole where the steering arm ball socket is mounted. If the crack should propagate, the ball stud could become loose causing a loss of steering control, which could result in a crash. Correction: dealer will inspect the integral knuckle and steer arm and replace if necessary.

  • Recall 2004218 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain vehicles equipped with 18,000 lb and 20,000 lb front axle assemblies, the front brake chamber is too small to meet the stopping distance requirements of cmvss 121. Correction: dealer will replace the type-20 brake chamber with a larger type-24 brake chamber.

  • Recall 2004341 [Canada]: Steering
On certain vehicles, the bolts that mount the steering gear to the frame can fail due to bolt quality issues which cause variation in the torque-tension relationship for the joint. This results in an inconsistent clamp load, which can cause the bolt to be either over-stretched (at or above yield strength) or under-stretched when torqued to specification. Failure of two of the three bolts could result in loss of steering control. Correction: dealers will replace the mounting bolts.

  • Recall 2003315 [Canada]: Brakes
Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of cmvss 121 "air brake systems". Due to improper seating of the check valve retainer in the brass fitting housing, it is possible for the air brake system pressure to push the check valve internal parts into the primary system reservoir and a vehicle operator would not know that this has happened. In this condition, the vehicle would not meet the emergency requirements of the standard. Correction: dealer will replace the check valve.
