Mack is removing the flasher 20971013 from production and the aftermarket due to the
durability issues of the flasher. The 20971013 flasher will be replaced by 25162061 in the
aftermarket. This will increase the reliability of the flasher circuit and the vehicle.
Follow the procedure to replace the flasher if needed.
Note: This bulletin does not apply to MACK Trucks Australia.

Repair Procedure

You must read and understand the precautions and guidelines in Service Information,
Function Group 30, "General Safety Practices, Electrical and Electronics" before
performing this procedure. If you are not properly trained and certified in this procedure,
ask your supervisor for training before you perform it.
1 Secure the vehicle for service by parking it on a flat level surface, applying the parking
brake, chocking the rear wheel, and placing the transmission in neutral.
2 Disconnect all cables from the negative (ground) battery terminals to prevent personal
injury from electrical shock and prevent damage to electrical components.
3 Remove the upper dash panel covering the fuse and relay center.

4 Remove and discard the old flasher.

5 Install the new “Kysor Flasher” into position and secure with drill and drives as needed.

6 Connect the harness end into the socket position for the flasher connection.
7 Connect both end of the pigtails together.

8 Attach the ground lead to stud #7 or #8.

9 Check flasher operation.
10 Install the upper dash panel cover.

11 Install all the previously removed cables to the negative (ground) battery terminals.
12 Start the engine, check for proper vehicle operation.
