9/27/23, 3:00 PM 11 03 22_SERVICE ACTION: Replace Intake Camshaft SIB 11 03 22 SERVICE ACTION: Replace Intake Camshaft 2023-09-14 This Service Information Bulletin replaces SIB 11 03 22 dated Jan 12, 2023 What’s New: Revised Notice under Parts section. Removed Collect & Return section due to expired eligibility period. Revised procedure section MODEL Model K67 Model Description S 1000 RR The affected vehicles have been marked with campaign number 0011510000 in AIR. In order to determine if a specific vehicle is affected by this campaign it will be necessary to verify the vehicle VIN in AIR (Aftersales Information Research). Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the repair or take no further action. Please note, open campaigns or vehicle stops may not appear in DCS Warranty Vehicle Inquiry or sales systems until 24-72 hours after they are announced, therefore AIR is always the recommended method for determining open campaigns and vehicle stops. SITUATION During the production of the intake camshaft there was a change in the coolant used to prevent localized overheating of parts of the camshaft. Because of this, certain parts of the camshaft may have a changed surface hardness that can result in increased wear of the rocker arms and camshaft over time. PROCEDURE For vehicles that have not yet been delivered, the service action must be completed before vehicle handover. If the service action cannot be completed due to a parts shortage, the service action then must be performed during the next possible workshop visit when parts become available. In such instances, it is essential to inform the customer of the situation. In all instances in which the vehicles have already been handed over to customers, the customers must be made aware of the situation described above and asked to have the Technical Campaign carried out. The intake camshaft is to be replaced with a new intake camshaft. Following the removal of the intake camshaft, the rocker arms on the intake side must also be inspected for initial damage and replaced where required. The replacement of the intake camshaft and inspection of the rocker arms on the intake side must be carried out according to the repair instructions found in AIR “00 60 403 — Replacing the intake camshaft and inspecting the rocker arms”. A possibly required replacement of the rocker arms on the intake side must be carried out according to the repair instructions found in AIR “00 60 404 — Replacing the rocker arms of the intake camshaft”.
