I've had my original fuel tank replaced due to deformation. Now the replacement fuel tank is also deforming.

NoNoN NoneNone20131022

Fuel tank expansion/deform issue. Horn button is touching when locking the front wheel(turned to full left). Also the key guard is breaking and fuel tank side trim panels are loose from deformed tank. *tr

The gas tank has expanded apparently due to an interaction with the ethanol in the fuel. This causes it to bulge from the frame of the bike. The malformation of the tank causes the handle bars to touch the tank limiting movement, the opening for the key to be obstructed, and the paint and decals to become damaged. The effect of the fuel on the tank is a known consequence to the manufacturer.

2010 ducati streetfighter fuel tank failure, expansion and bike stopped running while on highway. Almost got rearended when power was lost. Dealer said ethanol gas caused the plastic fuel tank to degrade, expand and fail. Handle bars now hit the tank also. *tr

I was riding my ducati streetfighter s 2010 motorcycle on 101 highway at the speed limit on a straight line. Suddenly the engine stop working. It haven't worked for about two seconds. It as completely dead. Only the wheels were spinning under the momentum of the speed. *tr

I was riding my motorcycle, a 2010 ducati streetfighter, when the engine cut out while i was leaned over in a slow turn (10-15mph). The engine stopped completely locking up the rear wheel, and because i was in a turn, it caused the rear wheel to slide, causing me to wreck my motorcycle. The engine of a motorcycle should never, ever turn off while riding (i did not run out of gas, turn the ignition key or touch the kill switch). This defect could have killed me, had it happened in the certain circumstances. I have contacted ducati north america, but have not heard anything back from them. Previously this failure had occured 3 or 4 times to me while riding, but never while in a turn, so it did not cause me to crash. I normally just restarted the bike and drove on. I did not realize the danger of locking up the rear wheel until it happened to me. *tr

New bike @ 3000 miles has the fuel tank expanding and swelling. The tank gets deformed and clearance issues become evident. The front forks start hitting the tank and cracks begin to form. The tank will puncture soon. Ducati dealer takes photographs and sends them to headquarters. They approve a replacement tank. I feel the problem is with the material of the tank (plastic) and the ethanol in the fuel. This problem will keep happening if the material is not changed. So far 34% of us have problems with this issue and feel that ducati is ignoring them. This is the link for reference http://www.Ducati.Ms/forums/showthread.Php?T=96059. *tr

2010 ducati streetfighter- the gas tank deformed in several places and expanded to the point of contacting the upper fork bracket. *tr

The composite gas tank has expanded due to an interaction with the fuel. The fuel tank swells and bulges from the frame of the bike. The malformation of the tank causes the steering and suspension to contact the tank while riding and turning. The contact is causing damage to the finish and cracks in the tank. The opening for the key in the tank is obstructed and could prevent the locking mechanism from working and turning off the engine. The manufacturer is replacing tanks with the same problematic tank if the vehicle is under factory warranty and the repair is approved. This is a lengthy process that leaves the customer without use of the motorcycle while the decision to repair is made. The effect of the fuel on the tank is a known consequence to the manufacturer.
