Over the past year and a half the rear brake has failed over 10 times, it will happen after motorcycle is ridden over 30-40 miles in warm temps at lower speeds, and of ridden over 100 mile straight at any speed. The brake will fade and then will do nothing on the rear, the first time it happened on the ride home from the dealer after purchase 05/11, but did not fail completely, the next time on 06/10/11 the brake failed completely and almost caused a crash, bike was repaired by ducati at 600 mile service by a brake bleed, the brake failed many more times on longer trips instill it went completely out again on the freeway when i had to make a sudden stop for a car that crashed in front of me, i missed the car by feet. The motor cycle was taken to ducati again for repair, this time they said that they would repair with an "update" kit. I picked up the motorcycle and went on a long trip, the brake failed again and this time put more stress on the front brake that it started to fade, this occurred on a state highway. Motorcycle was returned to ducati for repair again at which point they installed "high temp" brake fluid. After this the brake has failed again 2 more times. This first after 100plus miles on the freeway in 60-70*temps at speeds between 65 and 75 mph. The second after 20 miles on state highways in 80-90*temps. Things i have noticed when the brake fails, the rotor in the rear is cool to the touch after i stop and get off the motorcycle. The brake line that is routed with in inches of the cat converter is so hot i can not get close to it. Ducati has told me that there is nothing that can be done to fix this problem. The motorcycle has been maintained to ducati standards and is in stock trim. *tr

The motorcycle has stalled unexpectedly 8 times since purchased new. Six of those times, the bike was in motion. Stalling has happened in a variety of situation, including on the highway in busy commute traffic, and at night. When the stall occurs, the headlight turns off. Happens when the bike is either warm or cold, although it appears to happen more often when the clutch is pulled in (but not always). In all cases, i could engine restarted immediately and resume normal operation. Weather was clear, and not colder than 60f. Repeated stalling has not occurred: the closest in time two incidents have occurred is 24 hrs. *tr

When slowing down for a stop sign or red light the engine will just stall with no warning. This requires me to restart the bike in traffic. A very dangerous problem. *tr

I have encountered (3) complete engine shut-downs (flameouts) on my motorcycle. First incident occurred while in the vehicles "urban" mode (200 miles). At about 20 mph as i was gearing down, the motor suddenly shut off. I immediately pressed the start button, and proceeded on without incident. Attributed the shutdown, at the time, to a new bike enduring its break-in-period. Second event happened while attempting to pull out from an intersection (400 miles). I rolled on the throttle, and before i left the clutch out, the engine shut off. I am an experienced motorcyclist. I have stalled motorcycles before. This incident was due to the machine and was a bit scary. Intersection, cross traffic, etc. I re-started the motorcycle, and drove away without incident. Third event transpired at nighttime (1750 miles). This was by far the most alarming of the three. While approaching an intersection, i pulled in the clutch lever to downshift into first gear, (20-25 mph) again, the engine abruptly shut off. Also, when the shut-down occurred, the motorcycles headlights went dark. I was in a predicament. My night-vision was handicapped further by the instrument lights shining toward my eyes. I immediately/cautiously began leaving the clutch lever out as an attempt to regain ignition and lighting(drift start). I had already selected first gear, so, the compression of the engine, was greater than my rear wheel traction, and i began a rear tire skid that was resolved by pulling the clutch lever. I then, with low nighttime visibility, drifted the motorcycle to the roadway shoulder. I then restarted the ducati, and cautiously drove home. I have discovered there are many multistrada owners on the net, at "ducati.Ms.", that are experiencing the unexpected flaw with the 2010 model year.
