These vehicles may be equipped with a driver or passenger frontal air bag inflator used as a replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain model year 2005-2014 mustang vehicles manufactured april 6, 2004, to june 21, 2014, and 2005-2006 gt vehicles manufactured february 20, 2004, to september 22, 2006. • Recall 90486 [USA]: If this condition exists, the transmission may not go into reverse or when the driver pushes the shift lever in the reverse ?r? position and the vehicle?s transmission does go in reverse, the ?r? may not illuminate on the dashboard of the f-150, expedition, or navigator models and/or the backup lamp on the rear of the f-150, expedition, navigator, or mustang vehicles may not illuminate. these conditions increase the risk of a crash or a pedestrian being struck due to the vehicle?s not signaling it is in reverse.

  Certain vehicles equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission may experience an intermittent loss of the transmission output-shaft speed sensor (oss) signal to the power control module. This could potentially cause an unintended downshift into first gear, which depending on vehicle speed at the time of the downshift, may cause the rear tires to slide or lock up until the vehicle slows. This may result in a loss of vehicle control without warning, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module with updated software.

  On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Note: this recall supersedes special service campaign 2015-052. Correction: depending on the model, dealers will either replace the driver frontal airbag inflator or airbag module. All vehicles having received a replacement inflator as part of a previous special service campaign will have a replacement inflator installed.

  Certain vehicles may have been equipped with an incorrectly manufactured transmission range sensor. In some instances, when the shift lever is placed in the "r" position, signal may not be provided to the electronic transmission range indicator "prndl" for "r" illumination and/or for backup lamp activation. Should the backup lamps fail to illuminate, the driver's intentions to reverse may not be conveyed clearly to other motorists and/or pedestrians, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury.   The office of defects investigations (odi) analyzed complaint data provided by ford as well as complaints submitted to odi from consumers.In total, there were 364 unique reports indicating various shift quality issues while driving.Ford identified several factors that may contribute to shift quality concerns in the subject vehicles, including cold transmission, clutch stay-out at high engine speeds, gear clash or grinding, and gradual loosening of clutch plate bolts in some early production vehicles.The largest percentage of complaints indicated higher than expected shift efforts in cold ambient temperatures.These complaints were related to transmission fluid viscosity and the higher shift efforts resolved themselves with the drivetrain warming.Ford published technical service bulletin tsb 11-3-18 to inform technicians that a lower viscosity fluid was available for use to address the cold shift issues.The clutch stay-out condition typically occurs at engine speeds greater than 4000 rpm.It does not prevent the selection of any gear, but may delay clutch re-engagement depending on how long the driver maintains the higher engine speed.Ford identified rotating inertia of the clutch components as the root cause and replacement clutch pedal parts were made available under ford tsb 10-19-4.A number of reports alleged increasing difficulty selecting gears along with gear clash or grinding.Grinding or notchy gear shifts may be caused by gradual loosening of clutch plate fasteners, which is promoted by certain aggressive shifting.This condition is progressive in nature and initially results in symptoms related to shift quality/feel.Clutch plate bolt loosening will not result in inability to select any gear unless the progressive symptoms are ignored until complete clutch failure occurs.Odi’s analysis identified only five complaints alleging an inability to shift into gear due to loose clutch plate bolts.None of these resulted in a stall and gear shifting could occur before engine start.A revised fastener was designed and implemented in production and is available for service through a special service message.There is no indication of loss of motive power or unreasonable safety risk associated with the alleged defect in the subject vehicles.This preliminary evaluation is closed.

Granddaughter driving to work this morning when car lost throttle response.Was on the highway in traffic, had to maneuver to the side of the road and turn car off, then wait awhile and restart.Made it to work without any more occurrences yet.Car not scanned for codes yet.Yes the wrench came on but went off after restart.

Upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle worked as designed. The contact called gosch ford temecula (26895 ynez rd, temecula, ca 92591, (951) 699-1302) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the transmission failed to produce power and the first gear had ceased. The contact stated the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 129,000.

The paint on the hood starting at the seam on the underside started bubbling like it was rusting underneath and has spread up & around on the top of the hood. The paint is now starting to crack and fall off. I have taken it to ford dealership collision center and to an independent collision center and both advised the hood needs to be replaced and painted. Both advised this is a known issue and appears to be some type of contamination that occurs when the seam is sealed. The quotes for this repair are for $3400 & $3300. While a 2012, our mustang has been kept under a cover and only has 24,000 miles on it.

Car shakes when coasting between. 2k rpms and 3k rpms car starts to hesitate and only way to stop the shaking is step opn clutch and shift to another gear or step on the gas pedal and after a couple of seconds it will begin to accelerate and shake more aggressively before returning to normal operation without shaking which would be very dangerous if i were to try to match speed while entering a free way or avoiding a potential accident.
