  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2007-2012 veracruz vehicles that were previously recalled under recall number 14v-415. Oil may leak from the front cylinder bank cover gasket, potentially dripping onto the alternator and causing the charging system to become inoperative.

• Recall 104858 [USA]: If the alternator is damaged, the charging system warning lamp in the instrument cluster will illuminate, and the engine will lose power and the vehicle will eventually stop operating while being driven. an unexpected failure of motive power while driving increases the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor company (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2007-2012 veracruz vehicles manufactured from december 26, 2006, through july 24, 2012. The affected vehicles may experience an oil leak from the front cylinder bank valve cover gasket. If there is a sufficient amount of oil dropped onto the alternator, the alternator will be damaged causing the charging system to become inoperative.

• Recall 92720 [USA]: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. additionally, when the ignition is in the 'on' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of park without first applying the brake. this may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor company (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 accent, model year 2007-2011 azera, sonata and sante fe,2006-2011 tucson, 2009-2011 elantra touring, 2007-2010 elantra, 2008-2011 veracruz, 2009-2011 genesis, 2010-2011 genesis coupe, 2007-2008 entourage, and 2006-2008 tiburon vehicles. Originally, in april 2013, hyundai recalled 1,059,824 model year 2007-2009 accent and tucson, model year 2007-2010 elantra, model year 2007-2011 santa fe, model year 2008-2009 veracruz, model year 2010-2011 genesis coupe, and model year 2011 sonata vehicles. In september 2013, hyundai informed the agency that it was adding more vehicles to this campaign, representing an additional 652,512 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the park position and cause the electronic stability control (esc) malfunction light to illuminate.

• Recall 66509 [USA]: If the clock spring develops high resistance, in the event of a crash, the drivers air bag will not deploy and will not be able to properly protect the driver, increasing the risk of injuries.
  Hyundai is recalling certain model year 2007-2008 hyundai veracruz vehicles manufactured from december 26, 2006, through march 21, 2008, and model year 2007-2008 hyundai santa fe vehicles manufactured from april 19, 2006 through march 20, 2008. The clock spring contact assembly for the driver's air bag supplemental restraint system (srs) may become damaged through usage over time. The driver's air bag electrical circuit will experience a high resistance condition, potentially causing the driver's air bag to not deploy.

• Recall 87620 [USA]: Any of these malfunctions, alone or in combination, may lead to a crash.
  Hyundai is recalling 532,633 my 2006-2007 accent, entourage, sonata, my 2007 azera, elantra and santa fe, my 2005-2007 tucson and my 2007-2008 veracruz vehicles. The stop lamp switch in the affected vehicles may malfunction. • Recall 75243 [USA]: A short circuit can cause overheating and damage to the converter module, possibly resulting in a fire.
  Hyundai is recalling 3,387 trailer hitch wiring harnesses either included with a trailer hitch or sold as a service part manufactured by thule towing systems and distributed by hyundai for installation on my 2007-2008 santa fe and veracruz vehicles. The accessory trailer hitch wiring harness converter module is mounted to the top surface of the rear bumper reinforcement. Some circuit board components may not have been thoroughly sealed to prevent moisture contact. The moisture may result in circuit board corrosion possibly causing a short circuit.
  this recall supersedes a previous recall conducted by hyundai affecting the same trailer hitch wiring components concerning high current leakage or a short circuit of capacitor c1. (please see 08e016). Owners who have already had their trailer hitch repaired under the initial campaign will receive a second notice from hyundai to have the newly designed harness installed.   Issue: on certain vehicles, engine oil can leak from the valve cover onto the alternator. If this happens, the charging system could stop working and cause a warning light to turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with this problem, the engine could shut off while driving, and you may not be able to restart it. Note: this recall replaces r0090 (transport canada recall 2014-297). Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety risk: a sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to have an oil protector installed. Note: if the battery charging indicator light is on, hyundai recommends that you should arrange to have the vehicle inspected and repaired at a dealer immediately.

  Issue: certain vehicles may be equipped with an accessory trailer wiring harness kit that could fail. Over time, this could result in a short circuit that can cause overheating of the control module. Note: this recall only affects hyundai genuine accessory trailer wiring harness kits that were manufactured by third parties and sold in canada. These kits may have been ordered at the time of a vehicle purchase, or purchased separately from a dealer as an aftermarket accessory. Safety risk: a short circuit could create a fire risk. This risk remains even when the vehicle is parked. Corrective actions: hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to inspect your vehicle to see if it has an affected trailer wiring harness installed. If it does, hyundai will advise you to take your vehicle to a dealer to install a redesigned trailer wiring harness. On certain vehicles, engine oil can leak onto the alternator, which could affect charging system function and potentially cause the engine to stall and not restart. This would result in a loss of motive power as well as affect power braking and power steering system function, which would unexpectedly increase steering and brake pedal effort, potentially increasing stopping distances and the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.   On certain vehicles, the clockspring assembly for the driver's airbag may become damaged and fail. As a result the airbag may not function as intended, and the instrument panel warning lamp would illuminate. Failure of the driver's frontal airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the airbag clockspring assembly.

  On certain vehicles, the stop lamp switch may have been incorrectly installed during vehicle assembly. This could prevent proper brake lamp operation. Failure of the brake lamps to illuminate when the brakes are applied may result in the following road users being unaware of the driver's intentions, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury or death. A malfunction of the switch may also cause the brake lamps to remain illuminated when the brake pedal is released. Additionally, a faulty switch may affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock on automatic transmission-equipped vehicles so that the transmission shifter would not be able to be shifted out of park position. Hyundai veracruz alternator-alternator-recall- when is stationary and in motion when leaking. City and highway driving. Hyundai replaced the original valve cover gasket under recall on november 25, 2014. The recall was based on oil leaks and alternator failures. Hyundai would not replace the alternator even though it was covered in oil at that time. A few years later, our alternator failed (april 2019). We paid a mechanic $750 to replace that alternator. The mechanic stated failure was caused by oil saturation. Hyundai has issued another recall for the same issue, but no resolution has been determined. I recently had another mechanic look at the vehicle and they mentioned the valve cover gasket is leaking oil on the newer alternator and the alternator is covered in oil again. I contacted hyundai after receiving multiple recall notices starting in november 2020 and a reimbursement claim was filed. Hyundai denied my claim for reimbursement because i did not provide a valid reason. Hyundai is still sending me recall notices, but they claim to not have a fix for the issue. I am forced to clean the alternator off monthly to avoid failure. Please contact me with possible resolutions.

2008 hyundai veracruz under safety recall 197. My 77 year old mother experienced the engine cutting out while driving. Had triple aaa replace battery thinking that was cause. Vehicle continued to cut out while driving. Received safety recall notice and hyundai claimed there is no remedy. Submitted a case to hyundai motor corp to assist with a dollar buyout amount so that we could purchase or lease a replacement vehicle since there is no remedy, no eta fro a remedy and we do not have a working vehicle at this time. They declined our request stating that we had to just keep fixing the car until there was a remedy. I explained that it is a safety risk for my 77 year old mother to be driving that unsafe vehicle until hyundai identified a solution to the vehicle stalling issue. Philip, at hyundai was rude, impatient and just kept repeating himself until i asked him if he would put his mother in that vehicle with the 197 safety recall. Then he was silent. No response is a response. I'm respectfully requesting help to resolve this issue with hyundai so that we have a working mode of transportation.
