• Recall 243965 [USA]: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 elantra, genesis coupe, sonata hybrid, 2012-2015 accent, azera, veloster, 2013-2015 elantra coupe, santa fe, 2014-2015 equus, 2010-2012 veracruz, 2010-2013 tucson, 2015 tucson fuel cell, and 2013 santa fe sport vehicles. The anti-lock brake system (abs) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
  owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the abs fuse, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed november 1, 2023. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available beginning april 10, 2024.   Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2007-2012 veracruz vehicles that were previously recalled under recall number 14v-415. Oil may leak from the front cylinder bank cover gasket, potentially dripping onto the alternator and causing the charging system to become inoperative.

• Recall 104860 [USA]: If the alternator is damaged, the charging system warning lamp in the instrument cluster will illuminate, and the engine will lose power and the vehicle will eventually stop operating while being driven. an unexpected failure of motive power while driving increases the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor company (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2007-2012 veracruz vehicles manufactured from december 26, 2006, through july 24, 2012. The affected vehicles may experience an oil leak from the front cylinder bank valve cover gasket. If there is a sufficient amount of oil dropped onto the alternator, the alternator will be damaged causing the charging system to become inoperative.

• Recall 92735 [USA]: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. additionally, when the ignition is in the 'on' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of park without first applying the brake. this may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor company (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 accent, model year 2007-2011 azera, sonata and sante fe,2006-2011 tucson, 2009-2011 elantra touring, 2007-2010 elantra, 2008-2011 veracruz, 2009-2011 genesis, 2010-2011 genesis coupe, 2007-2008 entourage, and 2006-2008 tiburon vehicles. Originally, in april 2013, hyundai recalled 1,059,824 model year 2007-2009 accent and tucson, model year 2007-2010 elantra, model year 2007-2011 santa fe, model year 2008-2009 veracruz, model year 2010-2011 genesis coupe, and model year 2011 sonata vehicles. In september 2013, hyundai informed the agency that it was adding more vehicles to this campaign, representing an additional 652,512 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the park position and cause the electronic stability control (esc) malfunction light to illuminate.

• Recall 94383 [USA]: Without the circuit protection, the module can overheat possibly resulting in a fire.
  Curt manufacturing is recalling certain tow package wiring harnesses, part number 56024, that connect tow vehicle lighting circuits to trailer lighting circuits sold for use on certain model year 2009 through 2011 hyundai veracruz and kia sorento vehicles. The units are not water-tight and moisture can seep into the converter module and defeat the module's internal circuit protection.

  Issue: on certain vehicles, engine oil can leak from the valve cover onto the alternator. If this happens, the charging system could stop working and cause a warning light to turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with this problem, the engine could shut off while driving, and you may not be able to restart it. Note: this recall replaces r0090 (transport canada recall 2014-297). Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety risk: a sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to have an oil protector installed. Note: if the battery charging indicator light is on, hyundai recommends that you should arrange to have the vehicle inspected and repaired at a dealer immediately.

  Issue: certain vehicles may be equipped with an accessory trailer wiring harness kit that could fail. Over time, this could result in a short circuit that can cause overheating of the control module. Note: this recall only affects hyundai genuine accessory trailer wiring harness kits that were manufactured by third parties and sold in canada. These kits may have been ordered at the time of a vehicle purchase, or purchased separately from a dealer as an aftermarket accessory. Safety risk: a short circuit could create a fire risk. This risk remains even when the vehicle is parked. Corrective actions: hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to inspect your vehicle to see if it has an affected trailer wiring harness installed. If it does, hyundai will advise you to take your vehicle to a dealer to install a redesigned trailer wiring harness. Hyundai recommends that you should park your vehicle outdoors, and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed.

  This recall was replaced by transport canada recall no. 2020-549. On certain vehicles, engine oil can leak onto the alternator, which could affect charging system function and potentially cause the engine to stall and not restart. This would result in a loss of motive power as well as affect power braking and power steering system function, which would unexpectedly increase steering and brake pedal effort, potentially increasing stopping distances and the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the front valve cover gasket and repair/replace the alternator, as necessary.

The combined 16 safety recalls all involve the antilock braking system (abs) modules or hydraulic electronic control units (hecu) manufactured by the equipment supplier mando. The part 573 recall reports contain varying defect descriptions and differing remedy descriptions for the same or similar equipment supplied by mando. This vehicle has had multiple problems with the valve cover gasket since we purchased it. In 2015 we had the alternator and valve cover gasket replaced per the recall. The next year in 2016 we had to replace the alternator and valve cover gasket again, as the gasket was again leaking. In november of 2020 hyundai admitted they were aware there was still problems with some gaskets, including with our car as we received a notice in the mail about a pending recall. In the last 7 months i have received 3 notices, but they all say that no repair has been implemented as of this time. This week we had to take our car in for the yearly required inspections in pa, and again our gasket is leaking. To pass inspection we had to replace it again, for the 3rd time. I called hyundai and was told that i should have it done and submit my receipt for reimbursement because as of now there still is no fix. It is unimaginable to me that a company as big as hyundai can be aware of a problem like this for more than 6 years and not come up with a permanent fix.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai veracruz. The contact stated while driving 32 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the battery warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed back to the contact's residence where an independent mechanic arrived to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed with a battery and the alternator needing to be replaced. The battery was replaced however, the failure occurred. The contact was relating the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 20v705000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 206,000.

Manufacture has not come up with a fix for current recall. They are taking to long. Have sent out the same recall letters 3 times. Car shut off when turning lost all power to car had almost no control, oil is dripping onto alternator from valve cover leak.

The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was a recall with nhtsa campaign number: 20v705000 (engine and engine cooling) associated with the vin. The contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The contact was informed that the diagnostic result needed to be sent to the manufacturer for repair approval. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. The failure mileage was 127,653.

On 4/23/21, i went to start the vehicle (which is our only vehicle to transport our children), but it did not start as if the battery was dead. My husband tried to jump the vehicle, but it died as soon as jumper pack was taken off. Later that day, my baby became very ill and we had to go to urgent care. My husband only has a work van that does not have seats to transport passengers, so he put the car on a charger for a bit and the car started. While on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost power, but we were able to coast off the highway onto an exit. We jumped the car with a jumper pack and made it to the urgent care. On the way home, we were able to jump the car with the jumper pack to get it started, but the vehicle once again lost power on the highway. We then tried to stay off the highway, but the vehicle kept losing power and we had to jump it every time we had to stop, which left us blocking traffic multiple times. We were able to jump the car and get it into a parking lot, but the car would not start with a jump after that. We had to leave the vehicle in a parking lot from 4/23/21 until 4/25/21, when my husband was able to use his work van and a car trailer to tow the car to the hyundai dealership. He looked at the car when he dropped it off and the alternator was covered in oil, which caused it to go out suddenly. There is a current hyundai recall on the car over the issue, but there is no fix. The dealership said we have to pay for repairs out of pocket and hopefully get reimbursed later. This is a large unexpected expense when we are already dealing with employment issues related to covid-19.
