• Recall 256943 [USA]: Beacons that do not provide proper illumination may be less visible to wheelchair lift users, increasing the risk of injury.
  Volvo bus corporation (volvo bus) is recalling certain 2013-2021 9700 buses. The red beacon lighting on the threshold warning system (tws) may not be bright enough. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 403, "platform lift systems."
  prevost will replace the red beacons, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed february 7, 2024. A second notice will be mailed once the remedy is available.   Volvo bus corporation (volvo bus) is recalling certain 2008-2021 9700 vehicles. The headlights may not have the correct amount of light output, and either be too bright, or too dim. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

• Recall 215570 [USA]: In the event that a mobility device pushes into the outer barrier, the barrier may fail, increasing the risk of injury for the lift occupant.
  Volvo bus corporation (volvo bus) is recalling certain 2009-2021 volvo 9700 vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts. When the lift's outer barrier is fully deployed, it may not withstand a sufficient amount of force, which could cause it to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard numbers 403, "platform lift systems" and 404, "platform lift installations."

• Recall 149903 [USA]: In the event of a crash, a passenger that does not remain properly restrained has an increased risk of injury.
  Volvo bus corporation (volvo bus) is recalling certain 2018-2020 volvo 9700 vehicles. The passenger seat belt attachments may not be sufficient to anchor the seat belts and restrain the seat occupants in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 210, "seat belt assembly anchorages."

• Recall 2021565 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
  Issue: certain buses were built with headlamps that may not meet the performance requirements of canadian regulations. As a result, the headlamp beam pattern may be too bright in some areas and not be bright enough in others. Safety risk: headlamps that are too bright could cause glare for oncoming drivers. Headlamps that are not bright enough may reduce visibility. Both of these issues could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: volvo buses will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

• Recall 2021477 [Canada]: Other
  Issue: on a small number of buses equipped with a ricon baylift wheelchair lift, the outer barrier of the lift may not be strong enough. As a result, when the lift is fully deployed, the barrier may not support an occupant if their mobility device or wheelchair moves against it. Safety risk: a wheelchair lift barrier that is not strong enough could create the risk of an injury. Corrective actions: volvo buses will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a prevost service center to add a side barrier support feature to affected wheelchair lifts.

• Recall 2020639 [Canada]: Powertrain
  Issue: on certain buses, the c1 drive hub in the transmission may fail. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the drive wheels when the bus comes to a stop. This can disable the bus and make it unable to move under its own power. Note: this recall only affects certain buses built with an allison b500 transmission. Safety risk: a bus that is disabled could create the need for a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury. Corrective actions: volvo will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a volvo service center to update the transmission control module software.
