Title Fuel Injector Concerns 5.0 AJ133 Gasoline
Category Engine
Last modified 01-Mar-2013 00:00:00
Symptom 499000 Basic Engine
Issue:
Fuel injector concerns, (applicable to 5.0 AJ133 Gasoline
Engines), leading to potential problems such as poor
running, poor fuel economy, hard starting, rough idle,
misfires and engine detonation. Customer symptoms may
include the engine check lamp illuminated which maybe
accompanied with a misfire/engine vibration at idle.
Misfire codes (P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305,
P0306, P0307, P0308, P0316) are stored in the PCM
dependent on the affected cylinder(s).
Cause:
Poor fuel quality or fuel contaminants restricting the fuel
Content injector flow rate.
Action:
If an injector concern is apparent please raise a Quality
Report EPQR which will enable the injector(s) to be
returned to the UK to aid current engineering investigation
work.
NOTE – It is imperative that the ‘faulty’ injector(s) are
clearly labeled prior to return. Jaguar has previously
received returned complete sets of injectors with no
labeling to denote the faulty injector(s) and which
cylinder it has been removed from. The injector can
be labeled with a marker pen or piece of tape wrapped
around the circumference of the injector body.
