  Some passenger vehicles may have fuel tanks in which the fuel delivery module (fdm), jet pump module (jpm, and/or cluster valve (cv) seals are not properly retained in the fuel tank. This may result in illumination of the malfunction indicator lamp (mil), or a fuel odor.

  On certain sedans equipped with moonroofs, a reinforcement bar was incorrectly assembled so that the bar may contact the glass in the moonroof. When closing a door or upon severe road impact, it is possible that the moonroof glass may shatter.

• Recall R/2007/045 [UK]: Diesel particulate filter excessive heat
  The diesel particulate filters (dpf) of the 2.7 litre engine may exhibit smoke and or fire from the underside of the vehicle flames emanating from within the rear exhaust tailpipe or an orange glow from the underside of the vehicle. Heat from within the dpf can radiate to the surrounding vehicle components and may lead to heating of the underside of the transmission tunnel and subsequent melting of interior components with the potential for an interior fire.
  recalled vehicles will have the engine management control module re-programmed with the latest calibration file. The vehicle will self test for dpf blockage which where required will be replaced.

• Recall 2006018 [Canada]: Other
  On certain vehicles, the moonroof assembly incorporates a reinforcement bar that has been incorrectly assembled such that the bar may contact the glass in the assembly and act as a stress riser. It is possible on door closure, severe road impact or when operated that the moonroof glass may shatter. The moonroof glass is tempered safety glass that is designed to fracture into small pieces that are less likely to cause lacerations. Correction: dealers will replace the moonroof.

  Certain vehicles may have an incorrectly manufactured guide plate which could hinder the function of the transmission parking pawl. Consequently, park may not engage when the lever in the vehicle is moved to park and all indicators show park position is achieved. If the vehicle was parked on an incline of sufficient grade, and the parking brake was not engaged, the vehicle could roll away correction: dealers will replace the parking pawl guide plate.

  The office of defects investigation (odi) opened pe06-030 based on three complaints alleging large quantities of gasoline leakage from the fuel tanks (not from the filler pipes) of model year (my) 2006 jaguar xj vehicles. On september 11, 2006, ford motor company submitted a defect notice (part 573) to nhtsa describing a defect condition that could result in leakage from one or more of three sealed apertures on the upper surface of the fuel tank assemblies in approximately 6,199 my 2006-2007 jaguar xj vehicles built at the browns lane and castle bromwich (uk) assembly plants and sold in the united states and federalized territories. According to ford, ¿some of the affected vehicles may contain a fuel tank that was not made to specification. This may result in illumination of the malfunction indicator lamp (mil), a fuel odor, or fuel leaking from fuel delivery module (fdm), jet pump module (jpm) and/or cluster valve (cv) seals. Fuel leakage is most likely to occur only after a fuel tank has been fully filled with fuel.¿ fords data showed a total of 52 complaints relating to the defect condition, consisting of 9 customer complaints, 27 dealer field reports of fuel leaks, 15 technical hotline service reports and 1 field service engineer report of a visit to a car dealership for the fuel tank leak condition.In addition, fords warranty data showed 265 claims ¿where leaks and fuel odor were reported, of which 156 [warranty] claims included customer complaints of [gasoline] liquid leaks.¿this preliminary evaluation has been closed, as jaguar is recalling the affected vehicles to replace the fuel tanks (recall 06v-358).

Suspension fault

While stopped in the road waiting for another car. With foot on brake, the car suddenly goes full throttle. Driver has both feet applied on the brake and the car still moves forward burning rubber, and then after a few seconds it goes back to idle. The car does this once or twice a year, the last time doing damage to a car in front of it. This is the fifth time this has happened. The car is idling normally with the right foot on the brake and it will just go full throttle all by itself. It has happened enough that we know we do not have both the brake and the gas pedal depressed. From doing online research i believe jaguar and toyota / lexus used the same system for controlling acceleration. I replaced the throttle body after the fender bender, it evidently did not help.

While being stopped at a stop sign with foot on brake the car suddenly accelerates. This is the 5th time this has happened, one time resulting in an accident. I have called jaguar and they blame the driver. I replaced the throttle which contained the same tps sensor that has plagued toyotas. I am going to replace the pedal sensor and if that doesn't work i guess i will sell the car. Each time this happens the car is stopped with the right foot on the brake. The accident was at a school waiting in a line of stopped vehicles waiting to pickup students.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jaguar xj8l. The contact stated that as he started the engine, there was a fuel leak coming from the fuel delivery module. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehilce was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 06v358000 component(s): fuel system, gasoline. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they would not repair the failure a second time at their expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 131,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jaguar xj8 (n/a). The contact stated that while driving approximately 50mph the vehicle began to overheat and the power steering failed. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic who stated the belt tensioner and crankshaft were defective. The vehicle was taken to a jaguar dealer. They stated that the crankshaft pulley was defective and had come loose. They told him that the engine needed to be replaced at a cost of $14,000.00. The extended warranty company would not cover the repairs. The failure mileage and current mileage was approximately 80,000.

I drive a 2006 jaguar xje sedan and have had problems 4 times with sudden acceleration when i come to a stop sign. I step on the brake and as the car comes to a stop it suddently accelerates. I have had to practically stand on the brake pedal to keep the car from going into the intersection with wheels screeching and the odor of rubber burning! The dealer, west herr jaguar in buffalo, new york has kept the car for the past 3 weeks and could not find anything wrong with it. Now my wife and i are driving it and fear that it may happen again. Since the dealer found nothing wrong with the car, even though this acceleration happened to us, (last time was in january 2010), what can i do ? Have you had this incident occur with any other jaguars?

Upon entering garage of home, while pressing on brakes preparing to park, engine accelerated forcing car to crash into a ladder in front of concrete wall; although husband pushed full force on brakes, the car seemed to race forward. No one was hurt, front right bumper plastic panel popped off. Earlier on same day, while slowing down for traffic, although i pushed on brakes, car did not seem to respond. I was able to maintain control of car since i was traveling at low rate of speed. *tr

Tl*the contact leased a 2006 jaguar xj8. When attempting to stop the vehicle at 5 mph, the engine suddenly accelerates. The contact was able to avoid four near crashes. The vehicle was taken to the mechanic and the brakes were replaced. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the diagnostic was unable to produce a failure code. Dt*: the contact stated while stopped at a traffic light, there was a rattling and grumbling noise coming from under the hood. Shortly thereafter, the power steering failed, and heat was felt coming from the dashboard and under the floor on the driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle was able to be coasted near a parking lot, and driven into a parking space. Excessive force was required to turn the steering wheel, which was accompanied by grinding noises. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who determined that the mounting holes in the side of the engine block used for mounting the brackets that held the power steering pump onto the engine were not drilled properly. This caused the power steering pump to detach, which, while floating around under the hood, caused other components to detach. The dealer attempted to replace the affected components, however the mounting holes did not line up, preventing anything from being replaced. The entire engine was replaced to correct the problem.*ak
