TECHNICAL SERVICES INFORMATION BULLETIN TSIB 22-03 Rev A February 16, 2022 TO: All Operators TITLE: Kiel Avance Seat Retaining Hardware Replacement MCI coaches equipped with Kiel Avance seat models 1020, 1030, 2010, 2025, and APPLICABILITY: 2050 before MY 2020 (VIN: J4500- 69517, J3500- 21031, D45CRTLE- 81035, D4000/D4500/D4505/D4005/D4000 ISTV- 15537) Read this entire procedure before beginning work. Use Safe Shop Practices at All Times. To avoid personal injury: a. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn. Safety glasses and protective gloves are required for working with DEF Fluid. b. Turn the main battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. c. Ensure that both the front and the rear wheels are chocked. d. Position the ENGINE RUN and ENGINE START switches on the engine compartment remote control box to the OFF position. e. Allow enough time for components to cool down prior to working in the engine compartment. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ TSIB 22-03 Rev A Page 1 of 6 February 16, 2022 1.0 Description This TSIB is to remind customers of recommended passenger seat inspections for operation and hardware torque requirements at intervals specified in section 10 of the maintenance manual. For coaches equipped with Kiel Avance seats, Kiel identified a possibility of seat backrest attachment hardware loosening from seat chassis due to vibration. Please see Kiel N.A.’s work instruction WI-PR-FA-030 (attached in the following pages) regarding replacement of existing nuts with locknuts to avoid such a possibility. Please also refer to Kiel N.A.’s “Preventive Maintenance Recommendations”. Kiel is providing a kit containing 57 sets of hardware, enough to rework a coach, free of cost to MCI’s customers.
