Differences also occur within the interior or exterior temperature of the vehicle. All of these symptoms may lead to various squeaks and rattles issues. • ABS: Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene • ABS-PC: Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene – PolyCarbonate • TPO: Thermoplastic PolyOlefin A squeaks and rattles kit has been developed with Newgate Simms. This kit will be automatically shipped to each retailer, enabling retailers to use the same professional fluids and tapes that are currently used in vehicle manufacturing to solve any squeaks and rattles issues. Refer to Service Bulletin STE12-02 for details of how to order additional kits or replenish the items in the kit when necessary. NOTE: See below for a list of the products in the Squeaks & Rattles Kit. Refer to Service Bulletin STE12-02 for information on how to replenish the items in the Kit when necessary. SERVICE INSTRUCTION: 1. PEOX612 Gel is a water-based, anti-friction gel that has different characteristics when applied to different types of surfaces. Although it resembles grease, it dries to form a long-lasting film and has excellent anti-squeak properties. The handy pen applicator makes it easy to apply PEOX in small amounts to thin edges. When applied to a hard surface such as ABS plastic the product never fully dries, it stays active like a thin film of grease. The PEOX gel has excellent adhesion properties, dries clear in thin layers, will not migrate once dry and is efficient even in high pressure applications such as between to plastic parts. When applied in thin layers to soft surfaces such as leather or vinyl, the white gel dries clear and forms a high elastic coating that stretches with the material. How To Use: Wipe on product using pen applicator to chosen surface. Allow products to dry, even thin films are effective. Drying time varies according to temperature and humidity but can be sped up using warm air. Parts can be mounted while PEOX is still soft although the product is not at full performance until completely dry. 2. PEOX AC612/21 is a less viscous version of PEOX gel and is an air-drying, water-based anti-friction liquid. Milky colored in bulk, but when applied in thin layers is virtually invisible once dry and has excellent anti-squeak properties. The pump spray can be used for large surfaces or to treat hard to reach areas. PEOX liquid is ideal for treatment of leather, vinyl upholstery or PVC, and is suitable for surfaces that are visible by customers due to its invisibility when dry in very thin layers. It is highly elastic and adheres to surface very effectively. It prevents stick-slip in dry or moist conditions between surfaces that are rubbed or vibrate against each other. How To Use: Apply with pump spray and wipe away excess with clean cloth leaving a thin http://topix.landrover.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/446279 11/27/2013 Page 3 of 6 layer. For more precise applications, unscrew the pump spray head and dab the fluid on to a sponge or cloth. Parts can be mounted while the PEOX liquid is still soft although the product is not at full performance until completely dry. 3. PEOX612 Paste is a more viscous version of the PEOX gel and is a water-based anti-friction paste and has excellent antisqueak properties. Although the paste resembles a grease, it is white in bulk, but when applied in thin layers will dry to form a colorless coating. A small amount of paste will cover a wide surface area. PEOX paste can be used on leather, vinyl upholstery and many hard surfaces. Unlike grease, it does not migrate. It is highly elastic and adheres to surfaces very effectively. The clear drying properties of the paste make it useful even in areas that are visible. How To Use: Apply the paste using a sponge or cloth and rub out excess. Let the product dry for an invisible result. Drying time varies depending on temperature and humidity but can be speeded up with warm air. Parts can be mounted while the paste is drying although the product is not at full performance until fully dry. 4. AC-F27 is a clear, tough, dry-film lubricant that also has superb anti-squeak properties utilizing synthetic lubricating agents. The handy felt pen applicator enables small accurate applications to edges such as plastics, lacquered metals, and other hard surfaces. F27 is ideal for use on a number of plastics such as TPO, ABS, and ABS-PC. As F27 dries clear and is a tough coating, this makes it a good solution for plastic parts that maybe handled occasionally. The product is effective in dry or moist conditions and is virtually solvent free. How To Use: Apply with pen applicator to the area of concern. The product is effective even in an extremely thin film. F27 can leave a gloss finish on some hard surfaces. Testing on unseen areas is recommended before application. The product is air drying and parts should not be applied until the coating has http://topix.landrover.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/446279 11/27/2013 Page 4 of 6 dried. 5. AC 602/2 is a clear, energy absorbing anti-friction coating for use on rubber seals that are squashed. The product has excellent anti-squeak properties, is highly elastic, and dries clear. The handy felt pen applicator assists application to long rubber seals and edges. AC 602/2 adheres exceptionally well to flexible rubber. The product eliminates squeaks and sounds that arise when rubber seals rub against glass, metal, or plastic (e.g. window and sunroof seals). Even wet glass will not squeak on rubber treated with AC 602/2. How To Use: Apply with the pen applicator to the seal/surface. An ample amount of the AC 602/2 should be applied. The product must be allowed to penetrate absorbent surfaces and be touch dry before assembly. It is fully effective after 24 hours. 6. Nyogel 774L is a translucent, light viscosity, synthetic hydrocarbon grease intended for mechanical components requiring a light amount of damping. The product was designed to stop noise from driver operated controls and mechanisms. Nyogel 774L is a fully synthetic grease so will not evaporate or become solid and being a clear grease should not be easily seen when applied e.g. to seating mechanisms. The grease will also improve the free motion of moving parts and is ideal for metal on metal applications, latches, and moving plastic parts such as switches and controls. How To Use: Squeeze the tube of Nyogel 774 to dispense the grease to the area of concern. The product is at full performance on application and parts can be mounted and operated immediately. http://topix.landrover.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/446279 11/27/2013 Page 5 of 6 7. NOTE: As part of the kit, EE-1010 is available in 3mm and 5mm thickness. EE-1010 is a semi-closed cell EPDM foam with excellent sealing properties. The semi-closed cell structure combines the flexibility of open-cell types with the excellent sealing capabilities of closed-cell types (after compression). When compressed, this semi-closed product becomes a suitable product for sealing gaps against water, wind, dust, noise, and heat. Density 95kg. RA code 1010. 8. NOTE: As part of the kit, the felt is available in three thickness - 0.5mm, 1mm and 1.6mm. The felts have both thermal and sound insulation properties plus can be used as an anti-vibration material. Very often used in door panels, boot and head linings, these felts are very versatile. Density250g. RA code 81. 9. NOTE: As part of the kit, the PTFE Tape is available in a 0.25mm thickness. PTFE Tape is an excellent insulator and can be used at temperatures up to 260c, while still possessing a certain compressive plasticity at extremely low temperatures. Chemical corrosion and moisture resistant. Low friction co-efficient. http://topix.landrover.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/446279 11/27/2013 Page 6 of 6 Ideal for hard wearing and metallic applications. 10. NOTE: As part of the kit, the PVC Foam is available in a 3mm thickness. PVC Foam has outstanding weather resilience and is resistant to oil and fungal attack. The PVC foam is suitable for a vast range of applications. Density 190/200Kg/m3. RA code 49. http://topix.landrover.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/446279 11/27/2013
