• Recall 126958 [USA]: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
  Mitsubishi fuso truck of america, inc. (mfta) is recalling certain 2004-2017 fe84d, fe85d, fec52, fec72, fec92, fgb72, fk61f and fm657 trucks. These trucks are equipped with kidde plastic-handle or push button 'pindicator' fire extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable.   Mitsubishi fuso truck of america (mfta) is recalling certain model year 2005-2007 fe83d, fe84d, fe85d, and fg84d trucks; manufactured from may 27, 2004, through may 14, 2007. The fuel pipes may crack due to an improper manufacturing process. Additionally, the fuel pipe flare nuts may have been insufficiently tightened.

• Recall 74332 [USA]: All of the rubber cushions could crack, allowing the air intake duct to fall off of the truck increasing the risk of crash.
  Mitsubishi fuso is recalling certain model year 2005 through 2010 fe83d, fe84d, fe85d and fg84d vehicles. The weather resistance properties of the air intake duct rubber cushions is insufficient. During normal vehicle operation, the rubber cushions deteriorate and crack, causing abnormal noise.

• Recall 32458 [USA]: Continued operation of this vehicle in this condition could (1) with respect to the fe83d fe84d, and fg84d models, restrict proper operation of the brake power-assist and compromise braking performance; and (2) with respect to the fe85d model, restrict proper operation of the exhaust brake system. either occurrence could lead to compromised braking performance and increased braking distances, which could cause a crash without warning.
  On certain medium duty trucks, the brake vacuum hose may have been manufactured with insufficient wall thickness allowing the hose to collapse during normal vehicle operation.

• Recall 37398 [USA]: The engine could stall and would not restart increasing the risk of a crash.
  On certain trucks, the cylinder head idler gear bushing may have been improperly machined, causing excessive stress on the cylinder head idler gear shaft. Continued operating in this condition could cause the idler gear shaft flange to break and generate abnormal engine noise or engine oil leaks.
  on vehicles with less than 15,000 miles, if the idler gear and bushing assembly, idler gear shaft and bolt will be replaced. If the mileage is more than 15,000 miles, the inside diameter of the idler gear bushing will be measured and if the bushing measures more than 32.043mm (1.262"), the idler gear and bushing assembly, idler gear shaft and bolt will be replaced.   On certain trucks, one or more fuel pipes may crack due to an improper pipe manufacturing process. In addition, the fuel pipe flare nuts may have been insufficiently tightened. Repeated normal high fuel injection pressure application may crack the pipe, causing a fuel leak. Leaking fuel could come in contact with high temperature components and catch fire, causing possible injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and replace high pressure fuel pipes showing evidence of improper manufacture.

  On certain vehicles, the brake vacuum hose may have been manufactured with insufficient wall thickness, allowing the hose to collapse during normal vehicle operation. If this happens, brake power assist could become inoperable, leading to increased vehicle stopping distance. Note: on the fe83d, fe84d and fg84d models, the hose provides vacuum to the brake booster. On the fe85d, the hose provides vacuum to the exhaust brake system. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the vacuum hose.

Previously reported severe rot and rust of chassis/frame. This 6 yr truck is already showing accelerated signs of same rust activity. Large blisters 6-8" dia pushing out from beneath paint and undercoating. Suspect that this truck will continue to rot and be unusable in 3-5 years. *js

2005 mitsubishi fe180 went in service september 20, 2006 and we also purchased the extended powertrain coverage, pto300. On november 30, 2006 the truck was experiencing a skip in the motor, also the check engine light had come on and the truck had lost power. According to the dealer the problem was a loose connection at the ecm for injector #4. This was tightened and the truck was returned to us. This same thing happened a week later, again it was tightened and returned to us. Somewhere around the end of june 2010 this truck again started skipping, the check engine light came on and it lost power. Dealer came to our shop to put the truck on the computer at a cost of $95.00. Dealer said that two injectors were not working, one was weak and one was operating in normal parameters. At dealers recommendation i had them replace all four injectors, at a cost of $3269.97. The first day we drove the truck it was experiencing the same problem. The dealer came out to the truck's location and tightened the harness/ecu connection. This time the harness at the ecu for the injectors was burnt. After contacting the mitsubishi district representative, i was told that the injector wire arched and at this time mitsubishi fuso agreed to replace the wiring harness and we paid the labor at a cost of $625.00. Since then this problem with the truck skipping, check engine light coming on and loss of power has occurred two more times. We have isolated the harness connection at the ecu for the injectors had loosened. This is causing major down injectors had loosened. It is my opinion that all of these problems and expenses come down to the ecu connection. I purchased injectors that i did not need. The ecu should have been replaced in june 2010. The original diagnosis and problem in november 2006 turned out was still the problem in 2010 and today. *tr
