* * CONFIDENTIAL * * Technical Service Bulletin 2018-1047 DATE: November 5, 2018 TO: E-ONE Dealers FROM: Kevin Kearns, Customer Support Manager SUBJECT: Air Restriction Indicator Sensor Wiring, Revision to TSB 2018-1043 dated October 15, 2018 Purpose or Background: During a routine truck delivery inspection a malfunction of the air flow restriction indicator light was detected. Our investigation determined that the malfunction was introduced in 2007 with the launch of the new ISSPRO gauge cluster. The new dash gauge cluster changed the requirement for air flow sensor signal from active high to active low. This malfunction went unnoticed until now due to our published air filter routine maintenance requirements and the air filter’s longevity. Instructions: In order to allow the gauge cluster air restriction indicator to function correctly, the air flow sensor located at the air filter requires a ground circuit wired from the truck battery to the air flow sensor terminals. At the right side truck battery ground post, connect a 16 gauge loomed black wire by using a 3/8” insulated ring terminal (see fig 1). Run the loomed wire along side of the cab tilt pull cable from the right side truck battery to the air flow sensor located at the right front air filter elbow. At the air flow sensor, remove the existing “Chassis Ign” ( green wire) and seal the end of the circuit. Using a 3/8” insulated female spade terminal (see fig 2) connect the 16 gauge black wire originating at the batteries to the air flow sensor. Secure the loomed 16 gauge black wire to the cab tilt pull cable with wire ties. This will be a running change on newly built E-ONE apparatus. Estimated time to complete this procedure is 30 minutes. The procedure will only be covered under warranty if the vehicle is within it’s standard or purchased extended warranty period. The inspection and correction should be performed at the next regularly scheduled maintenance or service visit.
