• Recall 74684 [USA]: Engine stalling could cause a crash without warning.
  Chrysler is recalling 180,963 my 2007-2008 sebring and dodge avenger vehicles equipped with a standard tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). Unused electrical connectors for the tpms may become corroded and could short circuit, which can cause a variety of conditions including engine no-start, dead battery, an inoperative cruise control or remote start system, and/or engine stalling.
  dealers will seal the wires for the tpms free of charge. The recall began on april 15, 2008. Owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

  dealers will inspect the connector for contamination or damage, install a wiring harness overlay, and replace the fan motor free or charge. The recall began on november 19, 2007. Owners may contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

• Recall 72834 [USA]: Driving a vehicle with an unlatched door can result in an unbelted front seat occupant falling out of the vehicle or being ejected in a crash, causing increased risk of injury.
  On certain vehicles, the front door latch cable may become partially unseated from the interior release handle housing possibly causing the latch to stick in the unlatched position or the lock function to become inoperative.
  dealers will add a secondary retention feature to both front doors. This action will supersede and expand a previous safety recall (please see 07v-104). The recall began on october 29, 2007. Owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

  On certain vehicles equipped with a standard tire-pressure monitoring system (tpms), unused electrical connectors for a second type of tpms may become corroded and could short circuit. This could cause a variety of conditions including engine no-start, dead battery, an inoperative cruise control or remote start system, and/or engine stalling. Engine stalling, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash, causing personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will remove unused tpms connectors, and protect their circuits.

• Recall 2007183 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, the front seat track position sensors utilized for the airbag system may not function properly. Sensor information is used to lessen inflation pressure for smaller statured occupants who may be seated in close proximity to the airbag. Failure of the seat track position sensors causes the airbag deployment to default to full inflation pressure regardless of the seat position. Full deployment could increase the risk of injury for smaller statured seat occupants in a frontal crash. Correction: dealers will inspect the front seat track position sensors and replace them if necessary.

  On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.4l engine, the coolant overflow from the recovery bottle may be drawn into the left radiator cooling fan motor connector. This can cause an electrical short circuit and could result in an engine compartment fire. Correction: dealers will inspect the connector for contamination or damage, install a wiring harness overlay and, if necessary, replace the fan motor.

My car cranks and starts, then dies about 2 seconds later. After several tries, it usually starts. However, i have had it into a chrysler dealer twice without them finding anything wrong. It usually decides to run just fine while in the shop. It will often go for a few months, then start repeating this scenario. This has been on-going for about a year.

I took the vehicle after purchase to the shop to look over and seller agreed that he would cover the cost for "sensor" issue as he stated! The car needs a camshaft and due to the age of the vehicle the mechanic stated if that part is replaced it will possibly need a transmission as well as a new engine. Therefore the repairs would exceed the value of the vehicle or not work at all and waste all that money. Car had issues starting from day 1 too.

We are currently not at home and have a 10 hour drive back home while driving this extremely unstable car and am honestly scared to death we are going to get in an accident! This is the 3rd battery swap we've done in 3 months but only have last 2 receipts. We have done research and this car has had electrical recall for this problem however apparently our vin dont match up to the recall. I dont understand it, this is extremely horrible business from chrysler and as soon as we can get home hopefully safely.. We wont buy another. Please help fast!

The convertible roof would open with pausing. The trunk was stuck open not closing but you could hear motor. Now trunk closed and stay closed with no motor sound. Convertible top isn't opening but when car drives at 30mph the roof flies open. The dashboard light would go off and on while driving,causing unable to see mph or anything. I took off from stopping at a red light my 2008 chrysler sebring convertible shifted the first gear and then locked up in 2nd gear i can only cruise at 35 miles per hour at 3000 rpm i pulled over turn the key switch off it started it back up it shifted fine until i got did the third red light then it locked up again they're calling this limp mode i have searched the internet and found that the sebrings have major problems but yet there is no recall something needs to be done my car only has 140,000 original miles on it 11 year old cars are not supposed to do this

3 seperate but related events. My horn began honking at random times, eventually i could not turn it off while in my parking garage at work. Ended up removing battery connection to stop the honking. When i arrived home i disconnected the horns. My wipers randomly do not work. I've had to rely on rainx. Sometimes they work and other times i cant turn them off. They sometimes stop in the middle of the window. Last issue was complete loss of power while driving at 70mph. Luckily i was able to pull over. Strange thing was it started right back up. But 10 miles later the same thing happened. Based on these 3 things happening within the last month i think it is part of the tipm module. Many complaints and this item is part of a class action law suit and a voluntary recall for other chrysler vehicle in the same year range as my vehicle.

Driver side seat belt mechanism has a sensor inside that is loose and my concern is will this have an impact on the airbags, it also beeps the entire time it is hooked. The beeping or sensor remains to beep while stationary, in motion, on a city street and highway, turning, braking etc.

Transmission does not shift from 3rd to 4th gear. Supposely dealership drove it over 25 miles never had the problem. I pick it up and drove it less then 5 miles and it does not shift.

Both driver side and passenger side airbags are in a "fail/safe" position. The code that was given is B1B02, driver airbag squib circuit open

The battery is in the driver's side front wheel well and the tire must be taken off to get to the battery. Cannot even get a jump to get the car started. Have to have a tow. Battery ran down alternator. Now have to replace both battery and alternator.

Horn stared going off on its own, while driving or just sitting, then the transmission started lagging, rpms drop while i'm driving and am unable to get back up to speed for a minute. I drive on the interstate daily for work and both of these are a huge hazard for me and other drivers. I assume the problems are related being as they both went crazy at the same time. While driving on the interstate to work my car just sort of died without dieing the rpms dropped and the car tried to die but diidnt. The gas ped stopped working while this was occuring and i was unable to get back up to speed. It eventually kicked out of it but did it again the following week, driving out of my parking lot at work rpms dropped and was unable to use my gas ped. My car shut down completely as i was driving, the steering wasn't working, i couldn't turn the wheels at all. The breaks would not work either, no matter how hard i pressed on the breaks the pedal would not move. Luckily i wasn't going fast or driving on the highway cause that would have killed me.

I was driving home from work and the horn began chirping randomly over the course of about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes of random "chirps" the horn engaged and did not stop. This was while i was driving down the interstate. I pulled off the road and turned the car off. The horn still blew. I opened up the engine compartment and tapped the fuse box/relays and the horn stopped. I've read online that multiple others have had this issue and i would like the nhtsa to investigate. This poses a significant safety risk for myself and those around me. Also, the horn no longer works from the steering wheel when depressed.

My car was parked in my driveway, as i was closing the convertible roof, i heard a popping sound two different times. Once i made sure the windows and roof closed i looked to see the back seat arm rest panels had blown away from the frame of the car. I have it at a dealership now waiting to hear there explanation that would cause this to happen.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,590.

I purchased this vehicle used last november from a private seller. Since then i have had to replace the airbag clock spring, battery cables, and now i am experiencing problems with my windows and coolant temperature sensor. My passenger side window has fallen into the door several times do to a faulty track. My driver side window has completely stopped working do to a faulty button. And lastly, my coolant temperature sensor failed on me 2 months ago. I cannot drive any further than a mile without my car redlining. I checked for a leak in my hoses and seals and have found nothing. My antifreeze reservoir burns so hot it actually evaporates the antifreeze. I have gone through 6 full size bottles of antifreeze in a 2 months period. I have a noticeably high idle whenever the car starts to get the below the full line and now i have an engine ping. The overheat issue occurs whenever it decides it wants to. My dashboard display goes in and out intermittently and my windshield wipers turn on at random whenever i use my signal to make a left turn. This vehicle is full of electrical problems that i cannot afford to fix. The truth is, i purchased this vehicle with the small cut of life insurance money i got the my mother passed away. I am disabled and this is currently my only source of transportation. There needs to be some serious looking into the chrysler sebring from 2006 on up. I cannot be the only one experiencing this myriad of problems.

I bought this vehicle as is in february of this year. The convertible top gets stuck in the up position and doesn't go back down. I cannot see otu of the rear view and obviously cannot operate the vehicle safely. I contacted a dealership and chrysler and both told me the recall had been addressed in 2008 (they llooked it up by vin). However, it obviously wasn't since the top is still sticking. They basically told me too bad. However, they were unable to tell me which dealership had marked it as a completed and repaired recall which is strange. I would like it fixed asap since i cannot operate the vehicle without being able to see out the rear windshield! It was in a parking lot when this happened.

Backing out of my driveway the engines suddenly shut down but restarted without an issue. Later that day the red warning light came on and the engine started to have no power and then staled i was able to move to the side of the road and saw the throttle position sensor light was on (witch i looked up in owner manual. Was able to get it started again and drove it to my mechanic who tested it and said i needed a throttle body.T hat was replaced now 4 days later i was on a hov lane doing 65 light came on engine sputtered but didn't stall arrived at destination when i got back in car light was out and car started. Driving home i had to pull over several times when light was illuminated . My concern is driving at highway speeds especially where i live there are long tunnels i travel through hopefully it doesn't do this to anyone driving through them and anywhere that would definitely cause a serious accident , the initial repair to replace throttle body was $271 and an additional $88 for same issue now throttle pedal needs replaced cost at this time unknown

Maybe something with the fuel. While car is stopped, it will suddenly jump. If i didn't have my foot on brake the car would take off.The engine speeds up without me stepping on the gas pedal. The car suddenly stalls and shuts off at a stop sign or traffic light. This has happened many times. Over the last year and a half. I don't understand about pictures. There are no pictures

Key switch sticks on start , moves to acc ,on ,freely. Cannot believe chrysler isn't replacing the switch as it is doing the same thing that i read the 700,000 they recalled.

The car will rev at a stop light and occasionally shut down. Periodically, the vehicle will not start after a few hours of driving requiring a jump start we have replaced the brake switch several times and the cruise control will not work

When i start the car there is a loud knocking noise in the glove compartment area. Thus went on randomly when start or park the car. Now the airbag light stays on while the car is on. The noise would last a couple minutes at a time

The front, especially drivers, door window lift mechanism breaks, causing the window to retreat down, leaving the window in an open position. This has been fixed 5 times and keeps breaking. A definite design flaw.

This morning i got to work and put my vehicle to park and when trying to move the shift back to drive the shift does not move. Trying to park parked my vehicle. Shifter cannot move from park position. Doing my own research i found that, dodge/chrysler, already have some recalls on this issue. Recall #k39. I called chrysler group recall assistance center at 1-800-853-1403 and they informed that my vehicle is not covered under #k39 recall. It is a big coincidence they have a recall on 2005 through 2007 model year dodge charger, magnum and chrysler 300 equipped with a floor shifter, but not on this vehicle. I will keep this vehicle park when an investigation is conducted on this issue. If chrysler used the same parts on this vehicle and others vehicles in recall #k39, it will be very likely they need to investigate other vehicles like mine and issue the same recall. The airbag light of my vehicle came on two days ago without this vehicle having any accident. I started the vehicle in the morning and as soon as i left my driveway the air bag light came one. The airbag is however intact and has never been deployed. I am just surprise an airbag will come one without the vehicle having any crash.

Drivers tensioner doesnt latch, warning signal wont stop.

Took vehicle in to have the ball joint taken care of. Mechanic informed me that the dealer sold me a car with a very rotted subframe and that the car is in an unsafe condition to drive. I was taken to see the subframe. There are several cracks as well as large holes. They would not do the ball joints because it would have caused the subframe to break completely. If the frame would break while driving on the highway, it could be deadly. Chrysler has been aware of this issue, but, extended warranties on only three of their vehicle models with this issue. Sebrings were not on the list. My son is willing to go under the car for pictures if needed.

This car is a deathtrap , and accelerates at high speeds at any given time without warning !!!! Could die or wind up killing someone . Looks like it has been known for years and nothing as come of it! Just bought the car, had it shipped to my state & i cannot even drive it! And cannot sell it to anyone as its dangerous. Noone can find a fix for it. Chrysler played dumb and over the years claims they never heard about this major problem , yet its online .. Many people have been thru hell. Maybe even a death ... Drivers seat moves when coming to stop, air bag light comes on and off and will stay on at times seat belt dont retract

Chryslers are known for their terrible transmissions, but this is our second chrysler sebring in this year range (same engine/trans models), both with the same issue. When shifting from or thru neutral, (eg. Reverse to drive), the transmission shifts so hard that it can lift the engine and snap a mount. This causes the car to make knocking noises when shifting (any gear), and causes the car to lurch in and out of gear, neutral, and park.

Jun'17 instrument panel lighting quit operation or intermittent. Very difficult to drive at night. Need flashlight to see dash. Took to mechanic and he is aware of this issue on instrument panel printed circuit board on same vehicles.

About 2 years ago my tpms sensor on my driver side stop working, not even a month later my car started stalling. I would be at a light, stop sign, or pulling out into traffic and it would just stall. So i had the alternator replaced at not even 70,000 miles which solved the stalling issue. Then about a year and a half ago i noticed when i was on the interstate driving to tampa from orlando and i put the cruise control on and my car started slowing down on i4 and almost got me hit by a semi truck but he was thankfully able to swerve into the lane beside me. I called chrysler and told them the issue and they said well there is a recall on the tpms but your vin number doesn't match and turned me away. Then a few weeks later i started having problems with my passenger side door not locking and the window going up before the door was shut, and would have to mess with it to get the door to actually shut. Then about 8 months ago my rpms where jumping erectly and my dad who is a mechanic cleaned all the carbon out in my motor and i was still having the same problem. Then today my car shift would not shift out of park and my dads friend noticed the cable in the motor was popped out and popped it back in. So i drive to class and when i get on campus and go to park my car my var gets stuck in reverse and i had to sit in there for over an hour with my foot on the break before someone was able to help me. This car needs a serious investigation and chrysler refuses to help me when i have less than 95,000 miles on the car and my issues match there recall perfectly. These issues could lead me or someone else to get killed or seriously hurt, but i guess they wont due anything until enough people get killed or injured to realize theres a major problem with this vehicle.

On may 20, 2017 driving on interstate 70-80 mph; red lightning bolt dash warning light came on. My car seemed to pull back and hesitate. It was driving as if it may cut off. I drove into right lane and dropped speed to about 55 mph. I did not stop because it was night and i am a senior woman driving alone on a route i'd never driven. The car would pulsate and run unsteady when idling a stops. I made it home, turned car back on and light went off. I went online and looked up the red light icon and it said "etc electronic throttle control. This is a serious problem. Now i'm afraid to drive the car; especially on the highways and interstates. On previous occasion on a highway doing 60 mph or so; car accelerated and would not slow up until it decided to. I had no control about 30- 40 seconds. Thank god i did not panic and did not crash. I reported to mechanic at dealership where i purchased car. They said they have no way of knowing what happened unless i happened again. Also, in march i had my car towed to the shop because it would not start. They had to correct wiring problem. Another problem, their is a ticking sound. Mechanic says its some kind of fan that cools the air coming into the car. It makes that ticking sound even if my car is parked and engine turned off.

Takata recall, the tire pressure light has been on for some time now and as recently as last month my service engine light came on requiring me to change the crankshaft position sensor. Last week my stereo was shorted out and my cruise control no longer works and only my high beams are working. Today my car would not start and i took it to dealership because when i tried to start it the dash flashed as if it shorted out and come to find out my battery was dead drained for some reason. There has also been a couple occasions when my convertible top got stuck in open position and would not go down. I had to wait about 5 minutes before restarting car to get top to close all the way down. The car was parked when opening and closing top. The tire pressure icon is still showing on dash board.

Valve stem came off wheel. These are the ones that have a sensor. I was lucky to have it happen while i was not driving. Tire immediately deflated. It happened at the car wash while being dried with a towel.

Horn and passenger side low beam went out on my 4-cyl. 2.4l 2008 chrysler sebring sedan about a month ago. I replaced the bulb, which is labor intensive on this car in itself and the low beam still did not work. I tested the new bulb and it worked fine. I moved the bulb to the drivers side headlamp and it worked fine. The harness for the bulb connector carries a 12v current but still the low beam does not work. Every online search points to a faulty tipm(totally integrated power module). I can't afford a new one at $595 and that's if i replace it myself. I'm unable to find a compatible used part at salvage yards in the area and chrysler dealer says there is currently a month long national backorder on the part and is unsure if i'll have a replacement in a month. This alone should be a red flag that there is an underlying issue at chrysler. In the mean time i continue to search salvage yards and am looking for a way to bypass the tipm to get the headlamp working, which in itself could still leave me open to other failures on the tipm. All this said, i'm wondering if other electrical components will start to go soon as well. As it is i'm having a problem with the horn, which i believe also runs through the tipm.

I was driving and my vehicle started over heating and then wouldn't run. I have put w gone coolant in it several time. The radiator hose top part is completely busted. Needing a new head gasket, and whole top radiator hose now. On top of that the power steering hose is messed up also. My car window also doesn't work. It's stuck rolled down because of an electrical problem. I want it all fixed asap. I can't afford the fix. I am a single pregnant mother who has several appointments to get to and from between my daughter and i. Just going to the store for food has almost been impossible. We have to rely on others to help us. I need my car out the shop. Please help

I was driving and with out warning a loud noise started. The car stopped on the city street and could not be moved. I was in the middle of traffic. This was an unsafe condition. The car was pushed to the curve out of the traffic..Without warning the engine parts broke down. I had the car tolled to a station to get it fixed. I had to replaced the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, anti-freeze, serpentine belt, this cost $1,822.28.That was 09/28/2016. I had only 74,708 miles on the car, not 100,00. The check engine light kept coming on. On 11/07/16, at a chrysler dealer, i had a diagnosed test done. The tech found that the right cylinder head needs to be replaced. The car had only 75,209 miles. Not 100,00 miles. Is this to soon for those parts to break down and need to be replaced? I always had my car check at the chrysler dealer for the check ups at the recormended time. I received no warning that any of these parts needed to be changed. No warning. The car just stopped. This is dangerous. There should be a recall on this car. I had just got off the beltway. I could had been killed. The replacement of the right rear cylinder head is going to cost around $5,000 dollars. I don't have that kind of money. This car should be recalled that without warning these parts will breck and stop the car from running. I brought this car brand new, not used, and i always took my car to chrysler company for the regular check up i have the repair invoice and the diagnois report, but i can't scan them. Had to travel by myself to mexico 300 miles away and had to drive all the way back to las vegas with no window. The driver's side window did the same exact thing last summer in 2015. Called fca customer assistance center everyday for a week now and they told me my case was being escalated to a case manager. They would not help me. All i want is for chrysler to pay for the repair of my defective window. I called 1-800-992-1997. They call themselves fca customer assistance center. They were a waste of my time and effort. Last window on driver's side did the very same thing. I want satisfaction!!! I want the window repaired by chyrsler on them as i repaired my last window blowout. Can any one suggest some help as i really need it today and even last week? I'm afraid of driving my own car. Chyrslers should either bring their windows up to new standards (electrically) or not sell any to people who live in the desert. They are not safe!!! This car is always garaged and has low mileage as i worked close to home. What's this world coming to? Who's out there to help me? Chyrsler sure is not!!! Only god!!!!!!!!! I stopped for directions on this last window explosion, but the other window i was driving to the hospital without stopping.

Faulty or no hem flange sealer in the paint shop was used to prevent water seeping under paint on two places of the front hood and once place on the left rear fender. This has caused the paint to bubble in all three locations, allowed water to gather in all three places and is causing rust damage to my vehicle, not to mention the ugly appearance of bubbled paint and potential for continued rust damage! This is an expensive repair that should never have happened and i'm sure other vehicles made at the same time experience similar issues.

The dealer insisted that the random horn blowing was coming from a defective tipm rather than a problem behind the airbag within the steering wheel which is where many complaints about this problem have detected the cause. The car horn blows whether it is stationary or moving. Mechanic would not consider the possibility of removing the steering wheel cap to determine whether it was really coming from within the steering wheel or not. It was just easier for them and more expensive for me to state that the random horn blowing came from the tipm. I ran out of there like a bat out of hell after paying $280 for the diagnostic work! Meanwhile, now i have to drive the car without a horn which is a safety hazard.

When headlights are put on the dash board instrument cluster (the three circles) does not illuminate. No visibility of instrument panel. This happens all times when putting headlights on, no matter if stationary or moving.

Had my car going on a year and i have made my trips to ny in august of 2014 a week after i purchased the car and going to mi may of this year and once i turn my headlights off i lose all dash lights when i turn them back on. Takata recall. During the course of a year since i've purchased this car, i have experienced issues with what i believe to be power steering. Twice while coming to a stop (stop sign or light), my steering would lock along with my brakes. When i took it to a shop i was told my thermostat needed replaced. I told them to fix the issue. On april 17th while driving home from work a little after midnight this same issue occurred only while i was still driving. I was able to force my wheel to turn enough to drive up the bend i was driving around rather than the school in front of me. Finally i hit a pole and my car has been ruled as a total loss. I have many concerns in regards to what actually happened and why.

I brought my car in 2009. My lights have blinked from the start. On august 11, 2015, i drove 1 hour and 17 minutes 59.5 miles in moderate traffic. I arrived at agency. I exited the car. About 5 minutes later, i returned to my 2008 chrysler sebring and entered my car. I started the car as normal applying the brakes while shifting gears and put my car in reverse with acceleration. As my car was in motion the car dangerously shut off in the middle of the busy road and i had to apply the brakes quickly while rolling and in motion. My dad and i put a diagnostic on the car and it read a code. We checked the potential problems. The only problem was the transmission fluid. We refilled the transmission fluid. On march 4, 2016, i drove 51 minutes 33.4 miles in moderate to heavy traffic. I arrived to a military location. I exited the car. About 3 minutes later, i returned to my 2008 chrysler sebring and entered my car. I started the car as normal applying the brakes while shifting gears and put my car in reverse with acceleration. As my car was in motion the car dangerously shut off in the middle of the busy road and i had to apply the brakes quickly while rolling and in motion. As my car was in motion the car dangerously shut off. My dad and i checked the transmission fluid and the transmission fluid seemed okay this time. The 2008 chrysler sebring dangerously shuts off while rolling and in motion. No light stays on during the duration of the trips to warn me of anything that may be malfunctioning. The 2008 chrysler sebring shuts off with no warning while in motion. After it shuts off while in motion the malfunction indicator light comes on and it goes off. I called the dealership that i had been taking my car in for service since i brought it. The chrysler dealership has expressed uncertainty about finding the problem. I spoke with corporate with my vin and they did not help.

This car has a faulty totally integrated power module (tipm). This caused several problems including: the car stalling suddenly while driving at about 50 mph on a straight road, the horn going off intermittently and uncontrollably both while the vehicle was stationary and while it was moving, and a check engine light that would not clear. I replaced the faulty tipm at my own expense and it resolved all these problems. Chrysler has issued recalls for tipms, but they have never recalled the 2008 sebring. I have the original, faulty tipm out of the chrysler that i can send for testing and verification.

All warning lights are on. The head lights are going off. Happens in motion and stationary.

My back lights work as long as the car is in park. But when i shift into drive they go off. I only know this because other drivers that was driving behind me told me so. I have been told it is tipm module. I do not have a $1000 for the repair so i only drive it in the day time

Our car was running fine and then all of a sudden started to over heat. For a while it was going through coolant thought it was a leak but they didnt find one but then it stopped using coolant from what we can tell and is overheating within a few blocks. Air stopped working and even with heat on it over heats. I saw a lot of complaints about this same issue on these cars starting with the 1996 model and there were recalls on this same issue on 07-08 models i would like to know how to fix it. We tried the thermostat and they checked other things found nothing so i went looking to see if one of the recalls you put out a few years ago was my car maybe.

This is the third time i've bad problems with the air bag light coming on i've spent money three times for repairs because of the airbag light coming on i just spent money for the third time for repairs in may 2015 and six months later i'm having the same problem i just paid to be repaired there has to be an defect in the airbag .And i keep reporting and not getting any help no matter how many times i file an complaint.The airbag light comes on while driving on sitting still with seat belts on driving on the highway or street.

I was driving one morning and it was raining. The electronic throttle control light came on and the car wouldn't accelerate over 20 mph. I cut the car off and started it back up and it didn't do it anymore. Until the other day when exiting off the interstate the car lost speed and the same light came on. The restarting trick didn't work. The car runs shaky and is idled up high when started. The car still won't accelerate over 20mph. Had it diagnosed and discovered the throttle body needs to be replaced as well as the intake manifold runner valve to fix this problem. I see a lot of people that own this car 2007/2008 have this problem. Which can potentially be dangerous especially while on the interstate!

As i was driving 70 mph on the highway, the throttle control warning light came and the car begin to loss power and hesitate. I pulled off the road and it began to stall and jump. The car was losing power and i could not go past 45 mph. Driving down a slight hill at 35mph using no throttle, the car stalled. No lights, no alarms. Realized it stalled when i had no power steering for corner. No power steering. No power brakes. Muscled car to stop safely, but if my 16yo daughter had been driving.... Very scary. Car has stalled once while idling at a stop and stuttered like it was going to stall at a red light twice since the initial stalling incident.

First i went to start the car, i noticed the battery wasn't starting. I open the hood and tried to move the battery post, they were tight, but the plastic cover on the post started sending sparks out when i touched it. After a while i tried to start it again and it started right up. Then i noticed the malfunction indicator light came on. I let it run for about a minute then i turned it off. I didn't drive it at all that day. Later i checked it again. It didn't start. So i did the same thing again it started right up but the electronic throttle control light was on as well. I was afraid to drive it i thought the sparks might make it catch on fire. I think there were a recall on this car a while back. I've never had a problem with this car. I know that many people have had this same problem on their chrysler vehicles. I read about many other problems as well. What should i do next? I'm really not interested in paying any deductibles and car repairs at this time. Help!!! Is this anything that i need to worry about?

After a few days of the windows not operating properly and the car hesitating at times during acceleration, it would not start after being parked for an hour. The vehicle was towed and it was diagnosed as the tipm was not working and that it had been supplying continuous power to the fuel pump and the wires were burned! This certainly sounds like a fire hazard. This repair cost over $1000 with $677.50 being for parts. I see that jeeps have been recalled and there are other similar complaints about the tipm for vehicles. Why is this not a recall item?

My 2008 chyrsler seabring engine stop on highway and steering wheel lock. The reason why is a chyrsler defected part (tipm) which is total intergrated power module. Chyrsler have a lawsuit on them about this problem. My car is at the dealer for repair. Cost $1100.00 which i have to pay. This problem should be fix for free under recall. Problem: 2008 chrysler sebring engine, transmission & electrical problems. I began financing in nov 2013 from toyota of riverside, 1yr and 3 months later on feb 17, 2015 while i was exiting the freeway, my engine light came on, my car completely shutdown, i had no brakes, i was fearful and held onto the steering wheel coasted near an arco station. I was thankful i did not hit anyone or have an accident. I called aaa who towed me to toyota of riverside. [xxx] the service manager told me i needed to replace the timing belt and the engine for $1500. It took about 3 weeks for the engine to be repaired, my car was returned on march 12, 2015. However, i noticed when i received my car back the cruise control lever near the steering wheel was hanging loosely and was not attached. Weeks, later the electronic speed control light and the engine light came on along with problems shifting. I sent pictures of my engine light being on from my phone to [xxx] and [xxx] and went to see [xxx] who told me the transmission need repair and it would cost $3000 to $4000." i went to moss brothers riverside, [xxx] on 09/17/15 did a diagnostic. He told me there is an auto transmission shift lever recall and a spring hook retainer he can replace for free. He also replaced a stop lamp switch binds and reprogrammed the pcm for $290. I picked up my car on 9/22/15 it continued to stall, returned it to moss brothers [xxx] said it may be a transmission problem before we can begin we will need $1690 up to $4480 to repair it. Ihad my car towed to manuel auto center, he replaced my left tie rods for $275 in the past. He completed a diagnostic, replaced solenoid package for $800. However, my driver side window would not roll down, electrical problems and negligence at his shop. He was willing to pay $275 to repair. My car is unsafe. Brake failure. First time it was raining driving down the highway put on brakes to slow down because it began raining very hard brake locked up pedal was hard to push car spun out of control and almost sent me over the gaurd rail. Luckily gained control of the car thankfully there were no other cars in the lane next to me. On several occassions especially when wet i have no brakes, like it locks up or something . Abs light goes on and off. Replaced the brakes with life time warranty brakes. Abs sensors were checked and in place when brakes repaired. Had it checked at tires plus and just brakes both said nothing wrong with the brakes. This car scars me because i never know if i am going to have brakes or not or how to repair the problem or what the problem is.

I first noticed the light in the analog click go out, then the light in the shifter and overhead lamp. Most importantly is my power locks stopped working. I purchased a 5 batteries for my remote key and when that didn't work i purchased a new set of keys. The horn and lights would sound but the locks would not lock. My father owns a 2008 chrysler sebring limited. Around the year 2014 and 70,000 miles, the car started to act like it was possessed. Radio, hazard lights, interior lights would turn on all by themselves. My father took it to the dealer. They told him that the radio stayed awake while the car was turned off and that this was causing a draw on the battery. They told him he could replace the radio for $900 or just pull the fuse. This would cure the problem. However, the battery was trash and it cost him over $300 to replace. The knew battery didn't last a year. They replaced the battery b/c it was still under warranty. However, now they said, that after the test performed a draw test, there was an intermittent draw of 1 amp or more at times. They couldn't isolate the circuit and that it seemed to be something internal to tipm causing issue. They said they could replace for $765 but would have to recheck, and couldn't guarantee that would fix the problem. They recommend that he should just drive the car to keep the battery charged. I was driving down the road and i got a warning on my dashboard that said the convertible top was in operation. I was on the freeway driving 60 mph (approximately). All of the sudden the top started to open (it is a hard-top convertible) - it froze in midair because the trunk compartment was not prepared for the top to go into it and the trunk lid would not open because the car was in motion. When the top froze in the "up in the air" position, it did something to the motors. I had to have it towed to the dealership - they were able to get the top back down (manually) and then they set it so it was permanently closed until repairs could be made. Unfortunately, i do not have the money to get it repaired - about 600 dollars and i would not anyway, because it malfunctioned - it was not user error. The equipment completely failed. On aug. 8, 2014, with in minutes of exiting the 135 frwy at the lake exit in pasadena, ca., and slowing to turn into a del taco, the breaks on our car "totally locked up!". The following day we had the car towed to alhambra chrysler dodge jeep ram. I was very detailed in what happened to the service manager. The result was a new computer to monitor and administer braking instructions to the vehicle. I almost left the dealership before i noticed no mention of the incident as i had originally described. This concerned me and i asked them if the remembered why i had the car towed in. This has happened on several different occasions--becoming more frequent and lasting longer duration each time. While traveling various speeds (can and has happened anywhere from 5mph-60mph) if any pressure is applied to accelerator after breaking no matter the speed all power is lost to the car a red lighting bolt light appears on the dash and the rpm's will stay between 4,000-5,000. Each time having to pull off to the side of the road and attempt for it to restart (depends on if it will or not--usually takes it a while). Will get up to speed again and if i have to brake for any reason or even slow down just a little without apply the brakes it can completely loose power. Also do not have any dash lights when the head lights are turned on. They appear in the center console but went out in 2009 just after i bought the car, and after several estimates in the thousands of dollars it remains with no lights (so in no way can you see the speed or anything else on the dash after dark.) *tr

My car both in both park/drive will sporadically jump in rpm's for no reason. This has happened on 40+ occasions in which the vehicle will rev from 600 rpm's up over 3500 rpm's within a second. I called chrysler and chrysler stated that they have not have any reports from other vehicles and gave me no solutions to this problem. My check engine light is not on. I mentioned to chrysler that i am afraid that my car is going to one day rev while i am driving and i will not be able to control it. I am afraid that i am going to either injure myself, passengers, other motorist and/or pedestrians. I have been at many stop lights and stop signs where it has revved and moved forward even with my foot firmly on the brake. First indication of an electrical problem occurred in jan of 2014, when a yr. Old battery failed. Dealership replaced free of charge. In august 2014, my passenger side low-beam headlight went out, so i took it to dealership to replace the bulb. It didn't fix the problem. The dealership kept the car for 2 days and found there was an internal failure in the tipm driver, the bulb was bad. Bulb replaced, still not working, mechanic tested and traced wiring and connectors, all good. Mechanic found tipm has bad circuit for right headlight. Whole tipm has to be replaced at the cost of around $1000. After reading about the chrysler and dodge complaints online, concerning vehicles cutting off all power over 40 mph, and the filing of a class action lawsuit against chrysler llc by girard gibbs llp, november 1st, 2013, concerning the tipms having a known software glitch in chrysler and dodge vehicles, i'm convinced my car has the same problem. I contacted a chrysler representative, and she said there were no known recalls of the tipm, so she couldn't really help me out. I have to get this problem fixed, before it gets any worse and cuts off power to my engine in los angeles traffic, possibly causing a crash and multiple deaths. Please investigate this issue for all chrysler/dodge owners, 2007-present. There are multiple electrical failures caused by a software glitch in the tipm. The windshield wipers started stuttering then stopped completely. When i move the control arm they will move a little at a time, then start to go really fast. I had to leave them on the fast mode or else i would not been able to drive the car. It was pouring out. Thankfully i got to work with no issues. I have replaced the wiper motor and the control arm to no avail, the dealer put in a new wiper kit to no avail. Now i need a new tipm module.! *tr

Firstly found the driver's seat belt beeps while driving with the seat belt on; one week ago, stopped by the police at night, saying all the rear lights didn't function, including the stop lights, turn signals; a self checking found all the light bulbs are good, but the front left turn signal doesn't work, both front left and rear right lights are on for a long time after shutting off engine and light switch. Yesterday i took it to olathe chrysler shop/dealer to check up my car. They found both the multi function switch and the totally integrated power module should be replaced. Otherwise the car may catch a fire or lead to accidents. This is 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. As far as i know no accident has happened to it. I am sure this model has hidden safety issues. Because it has the same problem like the newer models of chrysler sebring, dodge, etc. Which have recalls. I don't hope accidents happen to me or others. *tr

Purchased vehicle used in august 2015, owner told us the wipers did not work but he had the motor and we installed the wiper motor. This did not work. So we researched this vechicle for recalls and we found that chrysler has had a problem with this tipm part but was not being responsible for a recall. This part cost us $650.00 and the wipers now do work but there is a noise that is still there and some of the caution lights do not go out. The car works but do not go that far in it due to the reviews we had read about this tipm part and the engine may stop working.

Recall #h07 on 12/30/2013 i went to hurley chrysler dodge deland, florida. The service advisor [xxx] request a fee of $115.00 dollar for the electronic diagnosis on this recall. [xxx] stated it was necessary to determine other technical issues on the car that was not necessary the tire pressure monitoring system. Deland aamco serve and repair the car on 12/26/2013 for a cost of 1185.77, however the tire pressure light still on. I was driving to work when the car (engine)suddenly stop. This situation had happened three times. Also sometime the car smell like burn wire. Locked up. Referred to manual in which i followed instructions for hidden reset button. To no avail, called local chrysler dealership. Their response "you get it here & we'll fix it!" totally frustrated~i did. Broken shifter has 2 little pink plastic guards holding it all together- really? One has broken but the whole shifter has to be replaced!! 3 1/2 hours later + $377.00 i drove away in hopes of being reimbursed by manufacturers to repay my friend footing this bill!! *tr

So far my 2008 sebring has turned off while driving twice. I was slowing down from 30mph for a stop light and it turned off and was luckily able to utilize the brakes if not i would have rear ended the vehicle in front of me, but as for the steering, it was unresponsive. However, i turned my car back on as if nothing happen until the second time it stalled while turning into my street. Same issue occurred (no steering, but brakes were ok.)car stalls once again good thing my car turns back on immediately. Its was dangerous only for the fact that oncoming traffic would be unable to see me stalled there because road forms a hill over the canal, since soon after i went passed over the canal my street entrance is more or less 20ft from the canal, it could be a blind spot. *tr

My airbag light came on and the dealer wants $550 to fix it. I think it is a safety issue and should not be so expensive to fix. I am now driving with no airbag due to a bad clockspring in the steering wheel. On my 1996 it was a recall and the dealer had to fix it for free, why don't they do it on this newer model. The cost is way too high for the part and amount of time it would take them to replace it. *tr

When raising or lowering the top it would malfunction (some where between completely up or down) and remain in that state sometimes for hours, local towing services refuse to transport the vehicle to a nearby dealership out of fear they would do more damage to it. Since purchasing the vehicle (2007) we've had it serviced (sep' 2007, jul' 2010, and sep' 2011) at different dealerships for the same problem; each time they assured us that the problem had been corrected. Most recently (may 29th) we again had the vehicle in for service, for the same problem. As before, the rear window panel (right side) has dropped several inches, the top is inoperative, and a strap that attaches to the underside of the top has broken and hangs down into the cradle. As royal protection plan has expired, the dealership has projected my out-of-pocket repair costs, this time, to exceed $1,015. We have not been able to determine if a recall has been issued for this recurring problem. *tr

The electronic throttle light is continuously coming on even after repairs. The car will ride find and then all of a sudden cut off with no warning other than the light appearing. Also it stalls and you can be in the middle of traffic which is definitely safety hazardous. I've notice that this problem has occurred to thousand and to my surprise no recall. *tr

The throttle body light just can on after crossing a speed bump and stop and killed and hesitated to restart now this throttle body part is on national back order. *tr

I was driving in stop and go traffic and started speeding up due to less traffic. I was going 60 mph when my car stopped accelerating and started making this weird revving noise (the kind when you are parked or in neutral), my warning light came on for the electrical panel. I then pulled over because it was not going any faster than 35 mph. Just letting it sit it was making those same noises. I turned the car off and restarted it. The light when away and it was able to drive again. It had a little issue getting back up to speed but overall it went back to normal. *tr

Front driver seat started feeling loose, airbag light came on, low tire light came on and check oil light would come on every time car is started. A few days later the car didn't feel right and started making a loud knocking noise, took it to the mechanic and found out that tensioner belt became loose causing damage to the car. I had to get a new alternator, tensioner & pull, and transmission flushed/serviced as well as the power steering. Not very happy with this 2008 sebring!!!!! *tr

When closing the top, i heard a pop sound and the roof stopped. It would no longer open or close but was stuck halfway open. The deck lid (a trim piece with plastic hinges) had broken affecting the top operation. It was repaired out of pocket in 2013. Now in 2015, the same piece broke again, again rendering the top inoperable. I contacted chrysler about the issue and was told there was nothing they could do. I live in pa and only use my top about 3-4 months out of a year (and limited at that since i have small children in the back seat daily) so this broken piece was not even used much before it broke for a second time.

On monday 1/28/2013 after a heavy morning of snowing and raining, i began to run errands. All of sudden my car 2008 chrysler sebring stalled as i was driving. I started the car immediately back up with no problems however shortly afterwards pulling up to a traffic light the car stalled again. Everything in the car goes off as if someone has turned the ignition key to off position. This is very dangerous as there are no warning to the possibility the car is about to stall. Tuesday 1/29/13 i took my car to a local repair chain as it continued to stall and they reported not finding anything electrical wrong with the car nor mechanical. However, they suggested that when cars stall sometimes it may be the spark plugs may need to be replaced. So based on their suggestion i had the spark plugs replaced/tune up. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem as i drove home car stalled. On wednesday 1/20/13, i took the car to another trusted mechanic and they reported the problem being electrical and manufactured due to how the car totally shuts down and not registering with the dash board a problem. On 1/31/13 i had the car towed to the chrysler dealership only for them to confirm, so far, what the other two mechanics already told me, its an electrical problem that is not showing up on dash. For three days the car stalled aprx. 11 times at traffic lights and/or in motion. I have read there was a recall on 2007-2008 chrysler sebring's however when i called chrysler i was told that did not include my car due to it being manufactured a month later than the recall cars. However, the recall notice describes exactly what is happening to my car. I have also communicated with 2 other people to whom have complained about the same stalling issues with the same year and model car. I just hope it does not take someone losing their life before changes are made to solve this problem. *tr

When filling the vehicle with fuel. When the tank is full fuel will overflow from the tank. Fuel pump will not shut off allowing for large spills unless manually stopped. Multiple stations of use with all having the same issue, removing nozzles from problem. *tr

The radio and speedometer would not function properly. In addition, the headlights became dim. There was a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 08v152000 (electrical system:wiring); however the vin was ineligible. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

While idling at a stop light in ocean city, new jersey, engine surged then stalled. The car was then driven two blocks to a corner sunoco station and while idling at the gas station, the car again surged and died. Car was taken to atlantic chrysler, but service could not duplicate the problem and the computer did not reflect it. Jan. 13, 2013, while driving in atlantic city, nj, car engine revved and stalled while stopped at a stop light. The car surged forward slightly before breaks halted forward progress of car, nearly hitting the car in front of me. This happened twice before getting the car home. During the same trip the dash board light activated indicating the convertible top was in operation. The light did not deactivate until the convertible top had actually been activated, taken down and replaced. I have read a number of similar reports to this one. This is a dangerous situation and has to have a fix by now. *tr

The electro-luminesnce lighting for the instrument cluster goes out randomly after starting the car after say fueling, or going to a store. There appears to be some correlation with engine temperature; i.E., it happens more frequently when the engine is still warm. The condition does not allow me to view the instrument panel (fuel gauge, engine temperature, speedometer, or tachometer) all other warnings and monitoring are ok (e.G., tire pressure warnings, odometer, etc). *tr

While i was sitting in my car at the traffic light which was red at the time. A dwi truck driver speeding and hit a moving car and push the car into my car and the drunk truck driver hit my car next at the same time cause another ca my car and the speeding dwi driver in the truck hit my car and my car was total out and i receive serious life time injury from the wreck .The dwi driver was given a traffic ticket and was taken to jail,however my air bags did not go off.I wastold by the doctor if my bag would have deployed i wouldn't have been injured so bad. *tr

While driving at a steady speed, vehicle will hesitate when climbing an incliine or when i accelerate, this is not a steady happening.I have taken it to two different chrysler dealerships to have it computer checked but nothing shows up. A younger mechanic at the second dealership stated it sounded to him like possibly the clutches were slipping and causing the problem. Since it doesn't show up on the computer he suggested that i just continue driving until such time as it may stop moving completely and then the problem should be able to be found.

While at a stop light, the car engine and rpm increased. Luckly i had my foot on brake. Had the car looked at no problem found. Including a major tune up. It has happened several more times, including when my daughter was driving my car. This time i had another person in the car when it happened last month. It occured again while at a red light the car was in drive and my foot was on the brake. It rpms went up and it cause the car to jump forward bearly missing the car infront of me. *tr

I drove to work this morning just fine. Upon preparing to leave, the car would not come out of the parked position. The gear was stuck. *tr
