My power steering went out. It said power steering assist fault. And i could not turn my wheel. Fortunately i was parked. I just could not turn the wheel to move. I turned the car off and back on again and the warning went away and i could move the wheel again. Worried it will happen again while in motion.

The dealer has completed all the recalls due to date on the vehicle, but is unable to report them so the vehicle is still listed on nhtsa.Gov as having 1 incomplete recall. Approximately 2 months ago, i arrived at one location near by lincoln ford of santa monica, my son, turned off the vehicle and did not turned on, the vehicle overnight at that location, next following day we turned in the dealer above noted. After few days they said this serial number is not cover by the recall, only few other same, year and same model but not this one is cover by the recall, of the power steering sensor. They were unable to load the codes of the vehicle, said they need to load the computer data. Now after 2 months that my car is sitting in the driveway, i will tuned in theodore robinson dealer in the city of costa mesa 04/13/2021. Please include this in the recall, same year, same model, same sensor vehicles are included. What is the difference? If they are the same components. Why some vehicles with the exactly same components are covered by the recall and others not????????????? I noticed on the ford pass app that there was a warranty extension for the apim on the sync system. They (ford) explained to me that the notification was sent to a previous owner and not me (i have owned the car since 2016). Had the rear toe link recall performed about 2 weeks ago. Finally decided to look and the old links are still on the car. Emailed pictures to service advisor early morning called a few mins later said he get them to his gm manager asap. Never got a response decided i'd swing by on my way home. Asked what the deal was. Said they hadn't had a chance to look at it yet. [xxx], can i at least have something saying it's safe to drive with these old recalled links they denied the request. I went to get my two lower control arms to be replaced. And my mechanic said that there was a recall on my vehicle on my rack and pinion. So i took it to two different ford dealerships and they said that wanted over $150 to even look at it and tell me if it would throw any codes. But if you just drove the car you can tell something is still wrong with it. I'm scared.

My engine light is came on. At first it was reading that my fuel pump was going bad. I've recently replaced my fuel pump and now my engine light is back on and its reading two different codes. One is a leak with my gas cap. The other one is eletrical. My car has cut off me as if i've ran out of gas and i wasn't really out of gas. So i looked it up and there was a recall for it and seatbelts and airbags but my vin# wasn't on the list. Everyone i know who got a car like mines had the recall and was fixed. I am now paying out of pocket for the airbags and my radio and back cam now is acting crazy show upside down and the radio keep going out. I need some help can't afford all these issues with my car when they are on your recall list .Please if you can re-evaluate my number the back cam acts up when backing up everything is upside down. Dealership said it's my power steering motor (racket pinion) and have to bring it in for replacement. The cost of replacement is ridiculously high and i cannot afford it. I had other professionals look at it, they diagnosed same thing. My vehicle is too young to have such life threatening malfunction. Lots of complainants have exact similar situation from the research i've made. Cost of fixing my car would break my bank. I don't have it and left with no option but to leave the car in my parking lot until i can figure what to do with it. Steering is locked and it's incredibly difficult to turn either left or right. Power steering would go in and out as i hit bumps in the road at first. Now it's out completely and sometimes locks in position without ability to correct for 1 -2 seconds. Recals for this make, model, and year have been issued. My vin is not supported despite the similar characteristics of the problem as well as the scenario leading up to total failure. I have a green 2013 ford taurus sho police interceptor. It was a state highway patrol car from rhode island i believe. I purchased the car from chicago motors. It was delivered to me in ohio. I didn't even test drive the vehicle. I trusted in ford. But after the safety issued that's only addressed selectively, i am ashamed to own anything with the name, including my f450. I don't know what kind of discussing greed drives a company to wait for someone to be injured or worse to act on a product that they have already addressed in select vehicles. I will be be fixing this problem as i diagnose the issue and hopefully, im am able to assist others i'm making non costly repairs that are above oem qualifications. If anyone is thinking of buying a ford product, i suggest they take a look at they're track record for customer can and product reliability. Power steering would go in and out as i hit bumps in the road at first. Now it's out completely and sometimes locks in position without ability to correct for 1 -2 seconds. Recals for this make, model, and year have been issued. My vin is not supported despite the similar characteristics of the problem as well as the scenario leading up to total failure. Rivertown ford has claimed to inspect the rear toelink and could not have considering i've felt the rear end trailing from time to time and noticed upon inspection deployed by myself visually that the driver side toelink had been cracking. When i notified ford by phone the dealership at that time brushed me off when i finally talked them into at least doing a multi point inspection that i paid for they claimed they hadn't noticed anything. They then and since then refuse to even look at the suspension without a 300$ fee. (2 the other instance is after receiving damage to my passenger side fender and obtaining a "short" in my bcm i started to get immoberlizer messages. P161-2a incorrect message from immobilizer. I diagnosed the issue with my laptop and obd2 passthru device and after seeing the issue was from pats which by the way isn't even present in the 2013-19 ford police interceptor sedans ford again wanted 400$ to"diagnose" the vehicle in which i had communicated with the supervisor trying to confirm my fear of paying the amount will they be able to at least repair or be further along.They informed me that they couldn't even fix or program the issue if this is the case. After they instructed me to tow it there and having my vehicle for approximately 2 weeks they again trying to receive more money and claims of probably not going to be able to fix it by the service tech i refused to pay for any ridiculous claims of not being able to program their own ford i then had to get the vehicle towed back to my house and after 2 months i still have the same message after pcm and bcm replacement (2 separate instances) dates are for toelink issue pats is a current issue

In 2015 ford recalled the electric power assist system for steering on the 2011-2013 ford taurus. I currently have a 2013 taurus that is not coming up with the recall but is having this issue. It is very unsafe as the steering wheel sticks and does not turn properly.

Power steering assist failure the same as what is described in recall 15s18 ( nhtsa campaign number: 15v34000 ) but cars made after a certain date are not covered by that recall, even when the exact same issue is happening. The recall needs to be extended to later models for the same issue.

Vehicle in motion on expressway fails to accelerate/loss of power on acceleration vehicle time of failure 73,000 miles no in dash lights or codes. Vehicle keeps slipping and making clunking noises when going down the highway. I didn't have this issue until a month ago and it seems to be getting worse. The guy at belle tire said the rack is a common issue with ford taurus'. Trying to keep away from bump and turns but i have a lot when driving in grand rapids. I've almost hit cars because it randomly pulls me in one direction. Steering becomes difficult while driving the vehicle in cold weather. Vehicle was allowed to warm up for approximately 10 minutes before being driven on city streets as well as highway. All forms of turning the wheel (either turning onto a different street in the city or a lane change on the highway) were difficult to do due to a lack of assistance from the electronic steering assist system.

On 12/11 at 2:30pm power steering failed without warning 5 minutes after starting and turning right onto johnnie dodds (city street). Warning message appeared indicating power steering failure. Drove several miles, parked and shut off car. Restarted about 10 minutes later and no problems since. Have driven about 35 miles with no problems. Concerned for safety of sudden steering failures in future. Ford service advisor at jones ford indicated that they probably wouldn't find anything wrong since they can't recreate the problem.

Car was stationary in my driveway..I started the car to pick up groceries, the power steering assist warning light came on. Theres no power steering, having car towed to dealership. Was informed my car cannot be serviced until dec 19 2019.

The headlights on this vehicle present a hazard as they provide little to no peripheral light. The headlights on this vehicle are equipped with only one bulb per side which provides light straight ahead but very little light to the side. Thus when one makes a turn onto another road one cannot see the road being turned on prior to the turn. I am putting a date in below only because it is required.

2013 taurus w/ 82,000 mi -in my driveway, i turned on car, got the power steering assist light, and no steering control - doesn't turn either way. There is a recall for this problem on the 2013 taurus, but not on my vin. I called ford 1-866-436-7332, was given a case number and told to hold on to repair receipts in the case a new recall is issued and my vin is included. I'm not very hopeful i will ever get reimbursed. I haven't repaired it yet, but will have to since i need my car. I'm terrified of the cost to repair.

I updated the sync software system, and the "911 assist" automatic crash notification feature, was no longer included like it had been from the day of purchase. I feel strongly that this is an important safety feature, and should not be removed in the course of ownership of the vehicle. There was no indication in the software update features notes that this acn "911 assist" system would be removed prior to upgrade. Ford customer service confirmed sync 2 mft version v3.10 does not include 911 assist. It was a feature of my car from the date of manufacture up until this software upgrade. Oem auto manufacturers should not be allowed to remove safety features that were designed into cars, and i urge nhtsa to enforce "grandfathering" of safety features, even option safety features, like acn systems.

June 2 2015 complaint #15v340000, loss of electric power steering assist. Our taurus is doing the exact same thing but is not in the recall.

While driving both on a highway ( 55 mph) and a town road (25 mph) the car engine and the whole car shut down and stalled out. I was able to restart the car briefly, both times, to get home. I had to use the emergency break to maneuver off the road to avoid hitting other cars. Now, after parking, the car will crank but will not start.

While driving on highway over 60 mph, on october 18, 2019 at approximately 19:30 california time, wrench symbol appeared, and i lost acceleration. There could have been a terrible accident, but i had difficult time to pull over. Diagnosis shown that throttle actuator a control system ' stuck open. On october 19, 2019 at 13:39 california time, i called ford and asked them to replace the defective part at the expense of the company, regardless of warranty because this part is sensitive and related to public safety and should not be malfunctioning under any circumstances. Ford representative asked me to go to the nearest dealership and keep the receipt in the hope that i will be reimbursed in the future if the same issue happens with others, so i did that. On october 25 at 08:44 california time, i called again ford company and asked them to deliver my message to the executive director in order to take the appropriate action. Ford representative repeated what was previously said and gave me a case number: cas/24590915. So far, there is no response. I found, through my online browsing, that there are a lot of complaints about this same throttle body problem. I respectively request you take this issue in your consideration before someone get hurt. The approximate failure mileage was 34,900.

On night of october 8,2019 i was driving vehicle (2013 taurus) and it just lost acceleration. Wrench light came on and i was lucky to be able to pull to side of road due limited traffic at that time of night. Once on roadside i turned the vehicle off and it restarted and no warning lights came on. I proceeded to drive the vehicle the short distance to my home with no further problems. The following morning i took vehicle to nearby service center. They checked for codes but nothing showed up. They stated that the throttle body appeared dirty and substantially had them clean it. On october 10 this time while traveling on a high at approximately 55/60mph the vehicle just died again/ losing all power to the accelerator. How an accident didn't occur is beyond me. Vehicle was returned to service center and when vehicle was started there no warning lights appeared although a subsequent check of codes this time revealed throttle body problem. Upon researching issue there have been several similar incidents with varied ideas (powertrain sensor / throttle body) as to the cause of problem. But when traveling on a highway and the vehicle completely loses acceleration and goes in to creep mode is a serious safety issue

We were riding down a main road going at about 45 miles an hour when we lost power and the car began coasting but had the foot on the pedal to the floor, we pulled over when we could get to the side of the road and turned the car off, started back up but happened again so we pulled into an auto zone and they put it on machine that showed we had very little power. We towed it the next day to a mechanic and he said it was the throttle body unit. We were almost hit several times because of the way the car was acting.

Car cranks but will not start. Replace fuel control 5 times but when replaced this last time it will not start. Steering is extremely loud and rough. During turns, the steering wheel locks up and requires an extreme amount of force to return to "natural" position. Due to the steering locking, there has been one collision thus far. I have had three technicians look at my vehicle and due to the issues i am having they recommend that i "avoid usage at all costs". Ford knows of this issue and has a field service action (fsa) open because of the electric power assisted steering (epas) failing. This is under fsa number 15n01. When going to a ford dealership the service manager stated that the recall could not be fulfilled because no power steering control module (pscm) or epas diagnostic trouble codes (dtc) has been thrown. The manufacturer recall 15s18 supplement #2 states that "this safety recall involves reprogramming the power steering control module (pscm), or replacing the steering gear only if there is evidence that certain diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) exist or were previously set, but are no longer present." this was ammended from the previous supplement.

I turned on the car and the warning message appeared. Power steering assistant issue, i pressed ok and tried to drive but had no control of steering, luckily i was not on a major highway when this occurred.

This vin is not included in the june 2, 2015 recall for loss of electric power steering assist. It is doing the exact thing that the recalled ones did.

Steering power went out, steering light came on. Went to pull out of parking lot and steering got real hard. I turned vehicle off and turned back on and it fixed the problem. (this was about 3 weeks ago). Today i had to replace the battery and after i replaced the battery and starting the vehicle the same problem happened again with the steering, but this time the steer3light stayed on and it is hard to turn.

My 2013 ford taurus will automatically shut off in the middle of driving. We took it to a dealer and they couldn't fix it. While driving on state highway, my vehicle started losing power and acceleration. My speed was between 55-65mph and the vehicle was not overheating. The engine started shaking and making noises as well. I was able to drive about another mile before the vehicle came to a complete stop. While sitting on the side of the road at night with my kids, the vehicle continued to shake and had the tool symbol light on. When i tried to accelerate, the engine would shake more and sputter. I looked at the engine and could see it shaking with no obvious fluid leaks. After turning the vehicle off and sitting for a couple of minutes, i was able to start the vehicle and drive home. It seems like everything is back to normal but i will be contacting my ford dealership in the morning to check it.

Started losing steering control at highway speeds. Traction control light came on so i slowed down to control vehicle. Had it towed into dealership. Dealer said the electronic controls to steering were locked up and had to be replaced along with the pinion and rack. Dealer and ford claim there is no recall. Power steering stops working. Hundreds of thousands recalled for this expensive faulty/ poor engineering. 2013 taurus but not my . Called ford they don't even want to talk to you. Don't use the car anymore. Can cause a serious accident and i don't see how ford wouldn't be responsible. Known issue they just pick and choose who gets helped. When starting car the power steering assist failure code prompts and you can't drive the car. I'm sure it can happen when you are driving. The power steering module fault light came on. The power steering quit working. Ford had to replace the power steering gear and control module. The 2013 taurus has been recalled for this issue but not our vin number. This occurred while the car was stationary which was fortunate. I believe that our vehicle should be covered in this recall since this appears to be the same problem as the previous recall. .

When driving down my city road around 20 mph,i was braking to turn in a store parking lot then suddenly my power steering when out with a fault code on my dash telling me that the car is in manual steering mode. The technician diagnosed and updated the power steering software. The contact was informed that there was no recall for the failure. I stopped for lunch and when i came back out and turned on the car the power steering light came on. I could barely move the steering wheel and it was extremely hard to move the vehicle in any direction. I had my children with me and it was really hot outside so i managed to drive the vehicle very carefully to the nearest walmart supercenter where i could take the children inside and take care of the vehicle. The car got towed to the nearest ford dealership where they informed me that it would cost me 2200 dollars to fix the problem because my car was not part of the recall nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000. This was extremely upsetting because the recall specifically says what parts of the vehicle are affected but is vin specific. Ford won't do anything about it

I see that my car has several recalls for fuel module issues. My car recently started leaking gas and the gas hand has suddenly stopped working. According to my vin the only recall is my door handles but i think that my gas issues are apart of the recall that cnn spoke about. There are also weird issues with the axel or suspension that seem to be apart of the recalls for this year. I'm hoping i can find out if my vehicle is apart of these recalls and that it can be repaired because it is not safe. Vehicle occasionally would stall at intersections or traffic lights; eventually the car would not restart at all. I had towed to ford dealer in knoxville tn where they diagnosed the problem as the fuel pump, which they have replaced at $905 plus tax. I read for recalls and came across 16v621000 which completely describes my car's problem. The vehicle has only done 125,000 miles. A fuel pump should not have issues with mileage. Ford water pump class-action monday, april 1st, overheating warning signal came on. Took the car to a local mechanic right away and he stated that the water pump is broken. The car is still at the mechanic as it's not drivable.

Whenever i am driving my car often between 35 and 55 miles an hour, my car will shake and stutter and feel like it's going to stall or shut down. 3 weeks ago it completely stopped running while i was driving it. I was driving through a parking lot at the time. When it shakes and stutters, it does not matter if i'm driving on a highway or in town. I feel very unsafe when i drive it. I bought the car in april 2019 and it has been doing it ever since. The dealer from where i bought it do the diagnostic tests and said nothing is wrong.

Driving down the road and all of a sudden the car indicated it was overheating. So i pulled over and seen that the car was spewing coolant everywhere. From further trouble shooting i found out that the water pump was bad and that it was going to cost me over $2000. The water pump should not be going out like that when i only just hit over 80,000 miles. Ford needs to recall these water pumps they put on these taurus's.

Electronic steering assist gives out while driving at all speeds, but especially at slower speeds 5-35mph. The steering wheel almost feels like it grabs and you have to pull the wheel back to stay in your lane and avoid a collision. Very dangerous, as this seemed to have come on very suddenly.

Feb 5, 2019, i called them again and they responded by giving me case number cas17063111 and told me that they would be contacting our local dealership to escalate the resolution. After 10 days of the service manager trying to talk to ford, they finally told him that they were not going to do anything. In other words, they just tried to appease me instead of resolving the problem. There is a june 2015 recall on the power steering assembly. Our car is doing exactly what the recall notice calls for. I need your help to be my advocate with ford. They are trying to have the local dealership pay on something that is their responsibility.

Making a right turn onto public roadway in trinity fl. My power steering went out , making turn extremely wide and feeling of no steering control. Flow of traffic stopped until i was able to avoid being t-boned and get to the shoulder of roadway, when making right turn light came on , i think it showed default to manual steering...But not sure of wording , because i was trying not to get broad sided....After pulling over to side i turned off vehicle , restarted car went forward on shoulder slowly , still having steering extremely difficult , then after about 100' steering went back to normal....? Ford spokeswoman kelli felker told edmunds the recall begins on july 20 ,2015 and that they were aware of four minor accidents linked to the recall , but no injuries.....This recall should be expanded , or possibly a class action lawsuit before someone gets in a deadly accident ....

No electronic power steering. Ford had a recall on this issue but it doesn't cover this car by the vin. But it's the same issue with the recall. I talked to ford and basically told me sorry about your luck. Is there anything else i can do about this cause i don't have 2500$ to fix their problem. I own a 2013 ford taurus limited. I keep my vehicle well maintained by myself or the mechanic. I have has clunking sounds coming from the passenger side front end. My mechanic replaced both front struts and both sway bar links. The noise had stopped for approx: a week. Noise came back mechanic changed strut saying bad strut. Again have same problem. Details of bad clunking noise.......Noise seems to be front left side, i and be parked and move steering wheel 1/4 turn left and right and hear noise. It seems to effect steering at low speeds turning. I travel 500 mile a week for work 98% highways. I have read countless complaints and no one has a solution. From others replacing steering modules, steering unit $2000, strut replacements. Control arms, wheel bearing??????? Need assistance i owe more on my car than its worth and cant afford to keep paying for a problem that has not been determined by ford or anyone else. The only notable repair was the replacement of a failed fuel pump control module about seven months ago. On the evening of january 20th, 2019, my wife and i were returning home after completing a 40-minute drive. We briefly stopped, waiting for our garage door to open completely and proceeded normally up our driveway, which is on about a 10-degree incline. As we approached the level floor of our garage, the motor rapidly revved up, lunging the vehicle forward. Luckily, the brakes held the car back, while the engine raced loudly and very fast. The process of this sudden and briefly continuous acceleration happened without any pressure on, or obstruction of the gas pedal. The engine briefly went into even a higher and louder rpm state after i quickly shifted the transmission into neutral, while applying strong pressure to the brake pedal. Luckily the car was stopped safely, but it left my wife and me quite distressed and concerned. We made an appointment for our mechanic to investigate this mysterious issue. If i were to speculate on the cause of this problem based on my experience, i would venture a guess that perhaps something may not be right with the process that is designed to detect and prevent engine stalling. It seems to me, that when our car coasted up to the garage at the end of our driveway, the engine slowed down to a near stall and then revved up intensely on its own, giving me and my wife quite a scare.

I have the exact problem that is described by the recall but my vin number isn't part of the recall. This can't be right and i have paid through the nose to fix what other people got for free.

The power steering system will suddenly go out without warning. The dash shows a power steering fault code. To clear the issue, the vehicle has to be put into park, ignition turned off and back on. Tends to happen most often when it is hot outside (not sure why) and typically at lower speeds. This has been occurring for months and i have not seen a recall on my particular vin although there are reports of the same make/model having the issue.

Steering wheel locked as my daughter was driving away from our house sunday, december 23, 2018. Problem happened to my wife one week before as she was trying to back car out of driveway while i was out of united states. The car gave warning "power steering assist default."

Radio would not play in 12/2018 but then it was ok until this year when it started causing the following issues in 11/2019. The my ford touch sync is causing an extremely loud squealing noise when the car is started, or when the radio is on while driving which is so loud it could cause you to wreck. Radio will not play at all when the radio is on. Most of the time the noise will go away if the radio or car is turned off. Ford had a recall but i never was notified by ford. I disconnected wire to fuse box and the radio reset and all was fine, the radio played all the stations including sirius xm but when my wife started the car the next day the loud noise started again and she had to get out of the car because it was so loud. She reached back into the car and shut the car off and the noise stopped. He got back in the car and started it again and hurried up and shut the radio off and the noise was gone. I got in the car and turned the radio on and the noise was gone but the radio would not play and the radio would not allow me to select am and fm but could select sirius xm, usb, and cd but would not play. The loud noise also has started when the bluetooth is on. This loud noise can cause an accident be because it is so loud. Went to the ford dealer and they told me that the recall ran out in 2017 but i was never notified of the recall by ford. This noise is very dangerous and can cause accidents because you never know when it will occur. I called ford and they gave me a case # ces24887147 and they will look into it but the ford dealer told me that the case # is about as far as it will go. There are many cases on line and the cost for this repair is about $1500.00 but it should be ford's cost not mine because i was never notified of this very dangerous condition while driving down the highway. I installed latest update it worked that day but issue was back next day.

Air bad light come on in the dasher all the time

I went to mall came out and car would not start. Towed to webb ford next day and mechanic said fuel pump electric module (pem) overheated causing loss of power to fuel pump. A loss of power to the fuel pump will cause the engine to stall or prevent the vehicle from starting, increasing the risk of a crash. Cost to fix was 400.00.

Driving in traffic and without warning, vehicle loses power and shudders. Slows dramatically. Wrench indicator light comes on. It has happened twice now, luckily i was able to pull out of traffic and turn vehicle off. After a few moments it will start and the light is off. Both times speed was 50-60 mph. Wife is now scared to drive it. It has 52,000 miles.

The engine just stalls without any warning while driving and will not restart for awhile. I called ford, but the lady told me they are not technicians at the call center so they can't assist; even after i told them that i took the car to a ford dealership and their scanning didn't reveal anything. Takata recalls. While driving sometimes the steering stiffen up making the car hard to control while driving and parking then vehicle ,then the rack and pinon went out, making loud noises . Making the vehicle impossible to drive. There is also an issue with transfer case to the awd the seals are easily breaking making the transmission fluid leaking everywhere.

I would also note that the power steering fault did not reset itself this time and the power steering itself is totally disabled.

Several attempts were made by myself and the dealer to doing the repair to get assistance and i was just given the run around over and over, every person i spoke to had a different answer or information. The dealer never received a response from the manufacturer, so i paid the $3100 in full. I confirmed with the dealer this was the exact part that needed to be replaced in recall 15v340000 that my vehicle was not covered under. I strongly believe they missed a large section of vin's that were affected and we are having to pay to replace the parts or our vehicles are just left un able to drive.

While driving my car would cut off. It would try to start but not turn over all the way. After a couple of hours the car would restart.I took the car to the dealership to find out it was my fuel pump control module. Which i see has been recalled in other vehicles like mine.

While driving, the power steering diagnostic trouble codes (dtc) came on my dash board and the car was almost unbearable to steer. I tried to drive the car to a shop, the car reverted to manual steering and eventually when i turned it off in the parking lot next to the shop, it died and would not start. I had to have it towed to the nearest repair shop where they replaced the entire electronic steering gear assembly module. This was a safety hazard as i was in the middle of driving on the highway while it happened.

The driver side and passenger side door locks do not work with the key fob. At times they appear to be locked, but are not. This occurred after a recall where the interior door handles were replaced. It did not do it at the dealership so it could not be fixed under warranty. Now my car will not start. It started, then died and it cranks, but does not start. Eventually the battery dies. It acts like it is not getting fuel. The fuel pump assembly was replace (13s04) in july of 2014. There is a recall of the fuel pump control module (16s31) for cars 201301015, but mine is not one of them. It should be!
