• Recall 243993 [USA]: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 elantra, genesis coupe, sonata hybrid, 2012-2015 accent, azera, veloster, 2013-2015 elantra coupe, santa fe, 2014-2015 equus, 2010-2012 veracruz, 2010-2013 tucson, 2015 tucson fuel cell, and 2013 santa fe sport vehicles. The anti-lock brake system (abs) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
  owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the abs fuse, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed november 1, 2023. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available beginning april 10, 2024. • Recall 145511 [USA]: An inoperative charging system can result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2007-2012 veracruz vehicles that were previously recalled under recall number 14v-415. Oil may leak from the front cylinder bank cover gasket, potentially dripping onto the alternator and causing the charging system to become inoperative.

• Recall 104862 [USA]: If the alternator is damaged, the charging system warning lamp in the instrument cluster will illuminate, and the engine will lose power and the vehicle will eventually stop operating while being driven. an unexpected failure of motive power while driving increases the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor company (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2007-2012 veracruz vehicles manufactured from december 26, 2006, through july 24, 2012. The affected vehicles may experience an oil leak from the front cylinder bank valve cover gasket. If there is a sufficient amount of oil dropped onto the alternator, the alternator will be damaged causing the charging system to become inoperative.

• Recall 92747 [USA]: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. additionally, when the ignition is in the 'on' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of park without first applying the brake. this may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor company (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 accent, model year 2007-2011 azera, sonata and sante fe,2006-2011 tucson, 2009-2011 elantra touring, 2007-2010 elantra, 2008-2011 veracruz, 2009-2011 genesis, 2010-2011 genesis coupe, 2007-2008 entourage, and 2006-2008 tiburon vehicles. Originally, in april 2013, hyundai recalled 1,059,824 model year 2007-2009 accent and tucson, model year 2007-2010 elantra, model year 2007-2011 santa fe, model year 2008-2009 veracruz, model year 2010-2011 genesis coupe, and model year 2011 sonata vehicles. In september 2013, hyundai informed the agency that it was adding more vehicles to this campaign, representing an additional 652,512 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the park position and cause the electronic stability control (esc) malfunction light to illuminate.

• Recall 94387 [USA]: Without the circuit protection, the module can overheat possibly resulting in a fire.
  Curt manufacturing is recalling certain tow package wiring harnesses, part number 56024, that connect tow vehicle lighting circuits to trailer lighting circuits sold for use on certain model year 2009 through 2011 hyundai veracruz and kia sorento vehicles. The units are not water-tight and moisture can seep into the converter module and defeat the module's internal circuit protection.

• Recall 2020549 [Canada]: Engine
  Issue: on certain vehicles, engine oil can leak from the valve cover onto the alternator. If this happens, the charging system could stop working and cause a warning light to turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with this problem, the engine could shut off while driving, and you may not be able to restart it. Note: this recall replaces r0090 (transport canada recall 2014-297). Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety risk: a sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to have an oil protector installed. Note: if the battery charging indicator light is on, hyundai recommends that you should arrange to have the vehicle inspected and repaired at a dealer immediately.

  Issue: certain vehicles may be equipped with an accessory trailer wiring harness kit that could fail. Over time, this could result in a short circuit that can cause overheating of the control module. Note: this recall only affects hyundai genuine accessory trailer wiring harness kits that were manufactured by third parties and sold in canada. These kits may have been ordered at the time of a vehicle purchase, or purchased separately from a dealer as an aftermarket accessory. Safety risk: a short circuit could create a fire risk. This risk remains even when the vehicle is parked. Corrective actions: hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to inspect your vehicle to see if it has an affected trailer wiring harness installed. If it does, hyundai will advise you to take your vehicle to a dealer to install a redesigned trailer wiring harness. Hyundai recommends that you should park your vehicle outdoors, and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed.

  This recall was replaced by transport canada recall no. 2020-549. On certain vehicles, engine oil can leak onto the alternator, which could affect charging system function and potentially cause the engine to stall and not restart. This would result in a loss of motive power as well as affect power braking and power steering system function, which would unexpectedly increase steering and brake pedal effort, potentially increasing stopping distances and the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the front valve cover gasket and repair/replace the alternator, as necessary.

The combined 16 safety recalls all involve the antilock braking system (abs) modules or hydraulic electronic control units (hecu) manufactured by the equipment supplier mando. The part 573 recall reports contain varying defect descriptions and differing remedy descriptions for the same or similar equipment supplied by mando. At about 60mph in a passing lane going up a fairly steep hill, i pressed the accelerator to downshift while passing. The accelerator pedal pulled away from my foot toward the floor. The car began uncontrollably accelerating. I was able to override this with the brakes, but each time i took my foot off the brake the car again downshifted and accelerated maximally. This was repeated at least five times. Shifting into neutral resulted in a high revving engine on three occasions. Turning cruise control on and off or canceling had no effect. I was able to stay on the brakes and get off the highway. I then shifted into neutral and the engine started over revving. I then turned off the ignition and restarted the car, which to this point is behaving normally. The floor mat was not interfering with the accelerator. The accelerator distinctly pulled away from my foot and went to the floor. There was no pedal confusion.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai veracruz. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number 20v705000 (engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The vehicle was repaired on seven occasions for failures related to the recall. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

2011 hyundai veracruz. Consumer writes in regards to oil leak on alternator. The consumer stated manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time determining a fix for recall 121, campaign 197. The dealer was unable to determine when a remedy would become available. The consumer stated the vehicle was emitting a toxic odor from the rear area. Variour warning light illuminate on the dashboard.

We purchased the vehicle in 2016 from a dealer with a known recall because of an oil leak. That was fixed in the first month of purchase. Fast forward to summer of 2019, we have the same issue. We purchased a new alternator ourselves after finding the first one terribly messy with oil, replaced it, and continued on. The oil leak continued. Jump to christmas 2020, it dies again. Replaced the battery and the alternator this time. Less than 2 weeks later we get a letter stating there is a recall and they're working on a fix. It is now may 2021 and no fix has been announced. With the amount of travel we've done over the last 2 years (less than 20k miles), you'd think it would hold a while longer. Think again. This week the alternator dies again and i have an appointment set for 3 weeks from today with a hyundai dealership, and no recall in sight. I'm getting pretty frustrated with hyundai as they know about the problem, tried to patch it up 5 years ago, and just now are finding that the fix didn't work for a handful of vehicles. We are out of a car and hyundai isn't taking any responsibility for it. Luckily my family is handy and we can replace parts like this in just a few hours on a weekend, but a part that's supposed to last for years has been replaced 3 times in the last 2 years. Unacceptable.

This complaint is for nhtsa recall number 20v-705/hyundai recall number 197. This recall notice has been out for almost 6 months now and there is still no remedy or any help from hyundai corporate or local dealerships. My car has been sitting un-useable for the past month because of this recall and no dealership will take my car. I have called hyundai usa and there is nothing they can do for me. This recall has gone for far too long.

Recall 197: no fix yet? 2011 veracruz awd limited may 19, 2021 car quit operating. Shut down after little warning. Instrument panel lit up indicating some sort of problem, then no power. Unable to restart. Had veracruz towed to the nearest repair shop east county auto on hwy 12 ( glenoma, wa) only 33 miles from breakdown. Feel like this car is unsafe, and hoping to get a fix so it can be safe. Hyundai says a fix is coming in a recent letter, but i have a problem with this car now. Will proceed with diagnostic efforts, repair if possible, and wait for hyundai permanent fix or reimbursement. Feel that hyundai is responsible for an immediate solution to this problem. Lives are on the line!

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai veracruz. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 mph and making a left turn, the vehicle loss motive power without warning. The vehicle was towed an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the alternator had failed and needed to be replaced. The alternator was replaced and the failure was remedied. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact indicated that the vehicle had previously been serviced under the nhtsa campaign number: 20v705000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the failure occurred. The failure mileage was 64,000.

I received a recall notification from huundai motor america regarding a safety recall with engines leaking oil from the front cylinder bank's valve cover onto the alternator. As a result, it damaged the alternator resulting disablement of the charging system. The engine shut off and cna increase the risk of crash. I took it in to the dealership and called their customer service (3/18/21 case # 18073112) and they said they have no resolution. Now, my car is completely not drivable. I have to take it to a mechanic shop to replace the gasket and alternator. I firmly believe that hyndai motor should be responsible for the cost.
