Mitsubishi Fuso Fe84d 2007

• Recall 126963 [USA]: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
  Mitsubishi fuso truck of america, inc. (mfta) is recalling certain 2004-2017 fe84d, fe85d, fec52, fec72, fec92, fgb72, fk61f and fm657 trucks. These trucks are equipped with kidde plastic-handle or push button 'pindicator' fire extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. The fuel pipes may crack due to an improper manufacturing process. Additionally, the fuel pipe flare nuts may have been insufficiently tightened.

• Recall 74338 [USA]: All of the rubber cushions could crack, allowing the air intake duct to fall off of the truck increasing the risk of crash.
  Mitsubishi fuso is recalling certain model year 2005 through 2010 fe83d, fe84d, fe85d and fg84d vehicles. The weather resistance properties of the air intake duct rubber cushions is insufficient. During normal vehicle operation, the rubber cushions deteriorate and crack, causing abnormal noise.
  dealers will replace all of the air intake duct rubber cushions with components manufactured to proper specifications. This remedy will be performed free of charge. The safety recall began on february 19, 2010. Owners may contact mitsubishi fuso at 1-856-467-4500.

• Recall 2012392 [Canada]: Fuel supply
  On certain trucks, one or more fuel pipes may crack due to an improper pipe manufacturing process. In addition, the fuel pipe flare nuts may have been insufficiently tightened. Repeated normal high fuel injection pressure application may crack the pipe, causing a fuel leak. Leaking fuel could come in contact with high temperature components and catch fire, causing possible injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and replace high pressure fuel pipes showing evidence of improper manufacture.

  On certain trucks, the rubber cushions - which fasten the air intake duct to the rear of the cab - may fail. This could allow the air intake duct to detach during vehicle operation. An errant intake duct could strike a vehicle, property, or a bystander, which could result in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will replace the air intake duct rubber cushions.

  On certain vehicles, the brake vacuum hose may have been manufactured with insufficient wall thickness, allowing the hose to collapse during normal vehicle operation. If this happens, brake power assist could become inoperative, leading to increased vehicle stopping distance. Note: on the fe84d and fg84d models, the hose provides vacuum to the brake booster. On the fe85d, the hose provides vacuum to the exhaust brake system. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the vacuum hose.

• Brake vacuum booster hose collapses investigation # PE06041

  This investigation was opened based on odis receipt ofewr information pertaining to collapsing brake vacuum hoses on the subject vehicles.The vehicles of concern are medium duty trucks, model years 2006 - 2007,models fe84d, fe85d and fg84d.Odi met with mitsubishi officials and drove a truck with the collapsed hose.It was determined that the vacuum brake booster hose can flatten or collapse while the truck is being driven, resulting indegradation (reduced vacuum) of the brake power-assist system. The reduction in available engine vacuum to the brake booster requires the driver to apply increased brake pedal pressure to achieve the expected stopping distance. During the investigation, odi learned that the brake vacuum hose was manufactured with insufficient wall thickness, allowing the hose to collapse during normal vehicle operation. During the recall mitsubishi will replace all vacuum brake booster hoses on the applicable trucks.This investigation is closed.
