  • Recall RM/2018/004 [UK]: Engine stall
Certain riding styles can cause the engine to stall.
recall the machines that are likely to be affected and download revised software for the engine management.

  • Recall RM/2020/002 [UK]: The side stand spring may fracture
A side stand spring may fracture with the stand leg in its rest (up) position
    replace the side stand spring.

  • Recall 2020011 [Canada]: Structure
Issue: on certain motorcycles, the spring for the side stand could break. This could allow the side stand to drop while riding. If this happens, the side stand switch can engage and cause the engine to stall suddenly. Safety risk: a sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: triumph will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to install a new side stand spring with a rubber sleeve.

  • Recall 2019233 [Canada]: Accessories
Issue: this recall is for accessory "café racer" fairing kits sold as optional or aftermarket equipment for certain motorcycles. The two conduits that position the wiring harness within the fairing may have insufficient clearance. This could result in damage to the wiring, potentially leading to an engine stall and/or loss of the headlight and/or turn signals. Safety risk: a loss of lighting or a sudden engine stall could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the wire conduits.

  • Recall 2018060 [Canada]: Powertrain
On certain motorcycles, the engine management software may not maintain a stable engine idle when the throttle is opened and closed quickly, with the clutch disengaged. This could result in the engine stalling, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will reprogram the engine management software.

  • Recall 2016517 [Canada]: Accessories
*** this notice is provided for information purposes only as the subject equipment is not regulated under the motor vehicle safety act *** a safety defect may exist in some aftermarket front brake levers. In certain adjustment levels, the brake lever blade may contact the handlebar grip, which would not allow for maximum brake performance. This would increase stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: triumph dealers will identify and contact affected owners and arrange for a replacement brake lever.

Known Recall Investigations
  • Extended stopping distance investigation as of 20210709

The office of defects investigation (odi) has opened this preliminary evaluation (pe) on model year (my) 2016-2019 triumph thruxton and speed triple model motorcycles based on allegations of loss of front braking performance.Odi is aware of 28 vehicle owner questionnaires (voqs) that allege, often without warning, there is no front braking ability on the first pull of the brake lever and that the front brake lever must be double-pulled (pulled, released, pulled again) to stop the motorcycle, causing an extended stopping distance thereby increasing the risk of a crash.Odi discussed the voqs with triumph on multiple occasions to gather information and to understand triumphs position. Triumph believes this is connected to the customers failure to follow triumphs scheduled maintenance recommendations of changing the brake fluid every two years, regardless of mileage. A review of voqs show that some of the reports are for motorcycles less than two-years old at the time of filing. Additionally, odi interviewed consumers that alleged their brake fluid was replaced and the soft front brake condition returned within the two-year service interval.A preliminary evaluation has been opened to determine the frequency and scope of this failure. The odi reports cited above can be reviewed at: http://www-odi.Nhtsa.Dot.Gov/owners/searchnhtsaid using the following complaint identification numbers: 11366912, 11376963, 11394269, 11373049, 11390627, 11373490, 11398844, 11331149, 11366927, 11366962, 11373122, 11387901, 11387969, 11387973, 11387984, 11388116, 11388167, 11221173, 11319267, 11366939, 11367061, 11372529, 11375308, 11387875, 11387893, 11372697, 11366688, 11387900

The front brake exhibits a very long first pull to engage, subsequent pulls are short briefly, then the long pull returns after a few minutes. This causes the front brake to engage at greatly varying levels of lever pull and effort during a typical ride. The brake is also very spongy and vague. The dealer has made 5 attempts to address the issue which includes several brake bleeds, replacement of the master cylinder and the change to different type of brake fluid, all to no avail.

The motorcycle stall when downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear, also from 3rd to 2nd gear. Will stall when sitting at a stoplight and you give a little throttle you hear and clank sound and it stalls. Will stall when going around curves and at intersections. Have taken it into dealer multiple times and they can not find the issue. There are many people that have the same problem on facebook. I have a video of it stalling in the middle of an intersection with oncoming traffic. Could have been killed. I can email you the video, your website will not accept videos. The last time it happened was 6/20/2017, it has happened at least 20 times prior to that.
