I was recently the victim of a near catastrophic mechanical failure while operating my 2003 hyundai xg350l. I noticed the steering pulling hard to one direction, which made me take it for a tire inspection. The inspection revealed i needed a wheel alignment. The mechanic pointed out that the entire sub-frame was corroded and that it needed to be replaced, while investigating parts and prices, i discovered that there is a standing recall on this model hyundai for the exact problem i discovered. I called the recall line, received a confirmation number 11209268 & 3a249831; an an appointment for repair at happy hyundai. On my drive toward the dealership, the tire began to rub into the wheel-well each time i hit a bump, but i was on the expressway so i had to keep going to my exit. As soon as i came out of the exit turn, the car failed and i narrowly avoided a serious crash!!!! The motor was still running, but it would not go into gear. Each time i tried it would make a loud noise. I called a tow to take it to the dealer. When i looked underneath the car, i could see where a piece of the frame failed. I checked the car into the dealer and i was told it would be a week for the repair. I waited a total of two weeks without a call or email. When i initiated a call they told me the person who i was dealing with had quit. The new person said he was not even aware my car should have been serviced. He further said that someone else would have to call me before they would complete the repair. Sir, i work as a driver. I have not been able to earn my living for more than two weeks based upon poor customer service. My car is there based upon every symptom described in your recall, but after over two weeks i still do not have my car. My interview of other mechanics informs me that the repair takes no more than four hours even if its worst case scenario.

The airbag light stays on. I have read numerous other complaints about this. There appears to be no solution to prevent the light from coming back on, despite different attempts to fix the problem. I understand if my vehicle is involved in an accident, the airbag will not deploy, which could result in a serious injury to someone in the passenger seat. *tr

My vehicle has been having a hesitation problem for some time now. I have taken it to several mechanics and have not found the problem after spending several thousand dollars. I took it to the local dealer (brown hyundai) in laredo tx and they point to the catalytic converters (3) and the oxygen sensors. I have had a mechanic remove the catalytic converts and tell me there is nothing wrong with the converters. The vehicle exhaust system reaches over 500 degrees. I have measured it with a heat gun. While i do not know what the proper temperature should be i know over 500 degrees is way to high. While i went to pick up my hyundai at the dealer he told me they had just had 2 other vehicles xg350's with the exact problem. If you go on line and read some of the codes they refer too "band 1 and bank 2 system too lean", this is a very common problem without an exact solution. I believe the code is P0174 and P0171. Both the mechanics i have hired and the dealer have checked the list of possible problems which include: intake air leaks oxygen sensors ignition misfiring fuel injectors fuel pressure mass air flow sensor. *tr

I have a hyundai xg350 2003. I had three incidents with it: two summers ago, i put the car in reverse and backed up few feet and stopped to look if it was clear to continue. My foot was on the brake, the car was stopped, then suddenly it lurched back, stopped then lurched back again and again, finally it stopped. I reported it to the service people and they said no way that would happen. Last summer, it did it again, but this time it lurched back only once. Last september, backing out of the garage, i stopped, pressed hard on the brakes to let my wife in. She opened the passenger door half way and the car lurched violently backward, with my foot still pressed hard on the brakes. That caused the door to pin my wife against the chimney, then slid and pinned her against an old refrigerator stored in the garage. Luckily the car stopped but not before it caused injuries to my wife. I researched the internet and found several owners of hyundai xg350 reporting the exact same problems. *jb
