• Recall 92731 [USA]: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. additionally, when the ignition is in the 'on' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of park without first applying the brake. this may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor company (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 accent, model year 2007-2011 azera, sonata and sante fe,2006-2011 tucson, 2009-2011 elantra touring, 2007-2010 elantra, 2008-2011 veracruz, 2009-2011 genesis, 2010-2011 genesis coupe, 2007-2008 entourage, and 2006-2008 tiburon vehicles. Originally, in april 2013, hyundai recalled 1,059,824 model year 2007-2009 accent and tucson, model year 2007-2010 elantra, model year 2007-2011 santa fe, model year 2008-2009 veracruz, model year 2010-2011 genesis coupe, and model year 2011 sonata vehicles. In september 2013, hyundai informed the agency that it was adding more vehicles to this campaign, representing an additional 652,512 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the park position and cause the electronic stability control (esc) malfunction light to illuminate.

• Recall 66511 [USA]: If the clock spring develops high resistance, in the event of a crash, the drivers air bag will not deploy and will not be able to properly protect the driver, increasing the risk of injuries.

The clock spring contact assembly for the driver's air bag supplemental restraint system (srs) may become damaged through usage over time. The driver's air bag electrical circuit will experience a high resistance condition, potentially causing the driver's air bag to not deploy.

• Recall 75247 [USA]: A short circuit can cause overheating and damage to the converter module, possibly resulting in a fire.
  Hyundai is recalling 3,387 trailer hitch wiring harnesses either included with a trailer hitch or sold as a service part manufactured by thule towing systems and distributed by hyundai for installation on my 2007-2008 santa fe and veracruz vehicles. The accessory trailer hitch wiring harness converter module is mounted to the top surface of the rear bumper reinforcement. Some circuit board components may not have been thoroughly sealed to prevent moisture contact. The moisture may result in circuit board corrosion possibly causing a short circuit.
  this recall supersedes a previous recall conducted by hyundai affecting the same trailer hitch wiring components concerning high current leakage or a short circuit of capacitor c1. (please see 08e016). Owners who have already had their trailer hitch repaired under the initial campaign will receive a second notice from hyundai to have the newly designed harness installed.   Issue: on certain vehicles, engine oil can leak from the valve cover onto the alternator. If this happens, the charging system could stop working and cause a warning light to turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with this problem, the engine could shut off while driving, and you may not be able to restart it. Note: this recall replaces C0260 (transport canada recall 2016-309). Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. This would result in a loss of motive power as well as affect power braking and power steering system function, which would unexpectedly increase steering and brake pedal effort, potentially increasing stopping distances and the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.   On certain vehicles equipped with an advanced airbag system, the passive occupant detection system (pods), installed in the right front seat of the vehicle, may misclassify a small stature adult as a child and deactivate the passenger frontal airbag. When the passenger frontal airbag is deactivated, the “pass air bag off” warning lamp will illuminate. This would cause the right front airbag to not inflate in a crash that merits airbag deployment, and may result in injury to the right front seat occupant. The condition will not affect the driver’s frontal airbag deployment. Correction: dealers will reprogram the pods system.

  The office of defects investigation of the national highway traffic safety administration received a petition letter dated october 10, 2021 requesting an investigation of an alleged defect(s) in the electronic throttle control system in certain model year (my) 2005-2016 kia optima/k5, my 2006-2015 kia sorento, my 2007-2016 hyundai elantra, my 2007-2016 hyundai santa fe, my 2006-2015 hyundai sonata vehicles. The petition was filed as a vehicle owner questionnaire that can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under reference (odi) number 11439675. The petitioners allege the subject vehicles exhibit a range of dangerous vehicle speed control problems including sudden uncommanded acceleration, runaway throttle conditions, surging, stalling and loss of motive power, all due to various defects and vulnerabilities in the electronic throttle control system.This defect petition has been opened to evaluate the allegation and determine whether to grant or deny the petitioners request.

I was driving on the expressway when my vehicle picked up 65 mph. I was pushing on my brakes which didn't do anything, as i was approaching my exit i had my foot holding the brakes all the way which then slowed the car down enough. I got off the exit and was met with a red light and my car accelerated without warning almost causing me to slam into the back of another vehicle. I threw my car in park and it started smoking so i turned the vehicle completely off. Frightening situation as i had my infant twins. May 7 2021

Fuel gage does not work. Fill up car with gas and the tank shows empty for days and the check engine light comes on. Getting new system does not fix this issue. Each day you get in the car it will show a different and inaccurate readying. I have seen many other online complaining about this.

On highway, car would no longer accelerate and went into limp mode causing me to slow to 50 mph and not be able to keep up with speed if traffic. Pulled over, dash lights flashed and car would not restart. Oil had leaked out of valve cover gasket all over the alternator causing the car to malfunction and become inoperable.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the lower control arm and the front axle fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
