  • Recall R/2014/160 [UK]: Risk of fire
Oil may accumulate in the turbo charger and in certain circumstances flow into the combustion chamber. This may cause engine damage. In extreme cases oil can be ejected from the engine and if it comes in contact with an ignition source may result in a fire.
depending vehicle diagnosis modify intercooler layout to improve air flow; upgrade ecu software; upgrade turbo charger and/or vacuum pump

  • Recall R/2011/090 [UK]: Body trim may cause injury
Due to the improper installation of the left a-pillar trim there ia a possibility that the trim may become detached when the curtain shield airbag would deploy during a crash. If this happens the loose garnish could injure the lh seat occupant of the vehicle.
inspection of the installation and repair if needed.

  • Recall R/2013/078 [UK]: Short circuit may cause failure of the power assistance
It is possible for condensation water droplets to form within the relay in the electric power steering control module. This can cause a short circuit across terminals within the relay. If this occurs and abnormally high voltage is detected by the control module it will shut down the power to the eps which will coincide with a warning buzzer and light illuminating on the dash. This will result in the loss of power assistance to the steering.
recall all affected vehicles and replace the power control module.

  • Recall R/2015/096 [UK]: Passenger side airbag may fail to deploy correctly
The subject vehicles are equipped with front passenger airbag inflators which could have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant wafers. Improperly manufactured propellant wafers could cause the inflator to rupture and the front passenger airbag to deploy abnormally in a crash. This could result in increased risk of injury to the occupant and the possibility of a fire.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the airbag.

  • Recall R/2015/095 [UK]: Driver side airbag may rupture
Subject vehicles are fitted with driver's air bag assemblies with single stage inflators. There is an increases potential for moisture ingress which could make the inflator more susceptible to rupture during deployment. Fragments may injure occupants.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the airbag.

  • Recall R/2016/083 [UK]: Rear seat belt may fail
The vehicles are equipped with 3-point lap-shoulder belt assemblies in all-three rear seating positions. The inner belt (buckle portion) of each of the rear three seat belt assemblies is secured to the floor of the vehicle with an anchor plate. The anchor plate might have been manufactured with a sharp edge around the punched portion. In the event of a collision there is a possibility that the inner seat belt webbing could become cut and separate at the anchor plate. If this occurs the inner seat belt may not properly restrain the occupant which could increase the risk to injury.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check the lot number of the anchor plate. Where necessary the rear inner belt assembly will be replaced with a new one.

  • Recall 2021723 [Canada]: Accessories
Issue: this recall is for certain block heater kits installed on certain vehicles or sold as accessories at toyota or lexus dealerships. On certain vehicles, the engine block heater cable may not have enough heat protection and could be damaged by high temperatures. If this happens, the cable could short circuit while plugged in, and cause the wiring to overheat or melt. Note: this recall only affects the following block heater/cord part numbers: C014003034 pk5a408j09 pU14000904 C014003151 pk5a408j13 pU14000905 C014000885 pk5a489j11 pU14000907 C014000888 pk5a489j22 pU14000909 C014000907 pk5a410h00 pU14000911 C014100904 pU14000900 pU14000913 C014100907 pU14000901 pU14003571 C014100911 pU14000902 pk5a408j05 pU14000903 safety risk: engine block heater wiring that overheats or melts could create the risk of a fire. Corrective actions: toyota recommends that you should stop using the engine block heater immediately. Toyota will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to disable the engine block heater. For some vehicles, the corrective actions for this recall are under development. For others, a new engine block heater cannot be installed, and the owner will receive a refund of the purchase price of the engine block heater.

  • Recall 2018015 [Canada]: Airbag
On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag assembly. Note: canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected. Matrix model vehicles may have had the original front passenger airbag inflator replaced as a “like-for-like” replacement under a previous recall as a temporary remedy while evaluating a permanent remedy. These vehicles will receive the permanent remedy passenger airbag assembly under this recall.

To ensure accuracy and for your safety, it is recommended to do a free VIN recall check here or here [USA] - UK - Canada.

Known Recall Investigations
  • Desiccated air bag inflator rupture investigation as of 20210917

From 2000 through 2017, takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("psan") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004l. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 blomquist report at www.Nhtsa.Gov/sites/nhtsa.Gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.Pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in us vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004l that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All takata inflators produced with propellant 2004l contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated psan inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- takata (now known as tk global), the independent testing coalition, and exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of takata desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004l (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004l is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l.The office of defects investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated psan frontal inflators manufactured by takata. This investigation will require extensive information on takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated psan inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.Gov/recalls?Nhtsaid=ea21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede ea15-001, which remains open.

It was new year's eve 12/31/2018 it was raining and i was going home after pick up dinner for my family and i was coming to a stop sign and i pressed on my brakes and it didn't catch on and i let off of it and pressed on it again. I still felt like i was sliding and that when i pressed on it even harder and i kept sliding. I turned my wheel so i wouldn't hit straight to the trees and the ditch but once i turned the wheel i felt the car being pushed like the wind blew on it and next thing i feel the car was hit and rolling down the ditch and the airbags didn't deploy. It happened so fast i thought we were died cause it was my 6 months old daughter and i. The first day after the accident my neck was hurting so bad that it hurt for me to swallow and my chest, shoulders, and back hurts. My daughter and i went to urgent care on 1/2/2019 cause the doctors office were closed and the emergency room was full of people the next day cause it was a holiday i wish i had went with the ambulance or went that same day cause i was in so pain after. We didn't get visible scars my daughter was strapped in her car seat and i had my seatbelt on cause i always make sure i have my seatbelt on every time i'm in a car i can feel my bruises i couldn't get a mri cause i was given a pregnancy test and it came up positive but i did get a x-ray on my neck. All i can take for pain is tylenol 1 pill every 6 hours or 2 pills every 12 hours. I have to follow up with my daughter doctor next week to see if everything stays normal from her urgent care check up. I'm trying to figure out what happened with my car cause i wasn't going that fast and the car hitting so hard i can't understand why the airbags didn't deploy? Didn't the sensors didn't work or go off. If y'all can please inform me of why the airbags didn't deploy please message me at my email [xxx] or [xxx]. Takata recall

NoNoN NoneNone20180404

Takata recall: upon receiving the recall letter from toyota approximately 6 weeks ago i immediately contacted one of the 2 local dealers (precision toyota) and arranged to have the parts ordered. After approximately 7 to 10 days i was notified that the parts had arrived and i attempted to schedule an appointment for repair but the dealer is unwilling to give me a ride home so i can use a borrowed vehicle to go to work. Yesterday i was advised by a rep from precision toyota that they again would not be able to give me a ride home on their shuttle but would arrange for an uber to return me home. Upon arrival this morning at precision toyota i was advised that they in fact would not arrange for a ride to my home because of where i live (approximately 19 miles from the dealer). I work and cannot afford to take a day off from work especially for something that is not my fault!!! Toyota is failing at this recall!

Takata recall i wish to complain about takata and toyota about their mutual handling of the recall. This summer i received a notice from toyota recommending keeping the front passenger seat unoccupied due to the front passenger airbag while they seek a "remedy". From what reading i have done, the remedy consists of replacing the defective technology from takata with a newer version of the same defective technology, thus prolonging the danger. This is just a ploy to buy time and it is criminal. As the airbag recall expands to other makes and models, will other airbags in my vehicle be affected as well? So now i and many thousands/ millions of other drivers must drive vehicles that could explode on us at any given time and that will be difficult, if not impossible, to sell. We should be compensated and toyota and takata must be held accountable.

"takata recall" this recall has been known since may 23, 2016 yet we only received a recall notice at the beginning of january 2017,and no fix is available for the takata air bag inflators on our vehicle. (making this vehicle dangerous far worse then any vehicle without a air bag system). We purchased this vehicle for its safety , but it is not safe. And toyota has no fix for the issue.. At this time i feel considering this has been know for a long time and nothing has been done to correct the dangers associated with the vehicle, the manufacture should either correct the faulty inflators, provide safe replacement vehicles, or out right purchase the vehicles back from the owners for the owners actual purchase cost. As of january 20th 2017 no notice to correct this potentially deadly situation has been received.
