• Recall 149209 [USA]: A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 fiesta, 2013-2014 fusion, 2015 mustang, 2013-2015 escape and c-max, 2012-2015 focus, 2014-2016 transit connect, 2013-2014 lincoln mkz, and 2015 mkc vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15v-246, 16v-643 or 17v-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
  ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. • Recall 93071 [USA]: An occupant in the right rear seating position will not have coverage from the side curtain air bag in a side impact collision when the front passenger seat is empty, increasing the risk of injury to the right rear occupant.
  Ford is recalling certain model year 2011-2013 fiesta vehicles, manufactured from november 3, 2009 through september 21, 2012. The vehicles fail to comply with federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) no. 208, "occupant crash protection." the passenger side curtain air bag will not deploy in the event of a side impact collision when the front passenger seat is empty. Although the side curtain air bag system was designed to suppress the side curtain air bag under this scenario, that information is not explained in the owner's guide for these vehicles as required by fmvss no. 208.
  ford will notify owners and dealers will reprogram the vehicle's software free of charge so that it no longer suppresses the passenger side curtain air bag when the front passenger seat is empty, and consistent with the description in the owner's guide. • Recall 2017274 [Canada]: Electrical
  In certain vehicles registered and operated in areas where road salt is used on the roadways during winter months for extended time periods (ontario, quebec, new brunswick, nova scotia, prince edward island and newfoundland-labrador), moisture containing road salt could enter the battery junction box and cause corrosion of the fuse and wiring terminals. This could result in a loss of electrical connectivity in some circuits related to the powertrain, potentially causing the vehicle to stall without the ability to restart. This could also affect the exterior lighting, which would decrease vehicle conspicuity. These conditions could increase the risk of crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect, clean any corrosion off the terminals and replace any defective fuses. Seals will also be installed in the battery junction box to prevent future moisture entry.

  On certain vehicles, the door latches may have a broken pawl spring tab. This could result in the door not latching correctly. As a result, doors which appear to be latched could unlatch while driving. This could increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant seated next to the door, or result in damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace all four door latches with a more robust part.

  On certain vehicles, the restraint control module will turn off the right side air curtain, as well as the front passenger seat-mounted side airbag, when the occupant classification system (ocs) senses the right front seat is not occupied. Although the vehicle meets prescribed standards for side impact protection, failure of the right side air curtain to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the right rear seat occupant. Correction: dealers will reprogram the restraint control module.

• Door latch failure investigation # EA15002

  The office of defects investigation (odi) opened an investigation based on consumer allegations of doors failing to latch and/or inadvertently opening on model year (my) 2011-2013 ford fiesta, my 2013 ford fusion and my 2013 lincoln mkz vehicles. All of the affected vehicles share the same door latch design.Odi has received 281 unique reports related to the alleged problem, with over 100 claiming that the door(s) opened inadvertently while the vehicle was in motion. There were no crashes reported however three separate injuries were indicated, all caused by a rebounding door striking a consumer after they attempted to close it. In response to odis information request (ir) letter, ford motor company (ford) responded with 1,102 unique reports related to the alleged problem. There were no injury claims but there were two claims of low speed accidents occurring involving the door opening while driving and damaging property. Ford also submitted 10,883 warranty claims related to door latch failures.Many customers indicated that the door would not latch at all and accordingly they decided to restrain the door by other means (looping the seatbelt through the door, or using rope or tape) in order to drive the vehicle.Some customers also reported multiple door latch failures occurring on the same vehicle on different doors occurring months apart.On april 23rd, 2015 ford notified odi that it would conduct a safety recall (15v-246) to remedy door latches failures on certain my 2011-2014 ford fiesta and my 2013-2014 ford fusion and lincoln mkz vehicles.According to ford, the pawl spring tab located within the door latch can break off, or separate and result in a “"door will not close" condition.The recalled vehicles include fiesta vehiclesmanufactured from the start of the my 2011 to may 2013 and fusion and mkz vehicles manufactured from the start of the my 2013 year until may 2013.In may 2013 ford reports that it made a manufacturing quality control change, specific to the spring tab, to improve the performance of the existing part.The door latch spring tab was redesigned and the new latch was phased into production in december 2014 with a new part number.Ford will replace all four door latches on the affected vehicles with the new latch design currently in production.The recall action initiated by the manufacturer appears to address the safety risks of concern to odi.Accordingly, the investigation is closed.The odi reports cited above can be reviewed at www-odi.Nhtsa.Dot.Gov/owners/searchnhtsaid under the identification (odi) numbers found in the attached list.

When entering the drivers side of my car i went to close the door and the door was not latching. This is the second time that this has happened and when i called ford chino hills. They proceeded to tell me they were not fixing any recalls for at least 3 weeks and that was just to get looked at, and then they said that it could take another 2 weeks to get the part. They did not offer a rental or anything and it put me out of a car because how am i supposed to drive a car when the door doesn’t close. Like i said the first time this happened i had to leave my car with them over night and once again was left with no car.

My vehicle began to feel like driving a boat. It was shuddering and driving roughly. My vehicle was repaired by a recall that i believe reprogrammed the tcm, 14m02tsb 16-0129 was done yesterday. Although i can feel some improvement in the 35 mi drive home, it still shudders and feels the same. This did not fix the problem. My boyfriend researched through various service bulletins and found 14m01. He then jacked up the car, removed the tire to get a better look and saw the leak. It does not leak enough to leave noticeable marks on driveway but is leaking. When i called, i was told that my vehicle was no longer covered as i am just outside of this warranty since i have slightly over 127797 miles and this ended at 100,000 or 10 years. My car is a 2011. If i had been aware of this problem, it would have been fixed during that time. Since there was no code or warning and no visible evidence of the leakage, i was unaware. The dealer who reprogrammed the tcm was unaware, there are no codes relating to this issue on the car. They only code i now have is an oxygen sensor or something code that showed up after they reprogrammed the tcm. I believe ford should extend this warranty for these effected cars, there are many with this problem, we have researched through the complaints. I want ford to cover the costs of parts, labor and any costs related to the repair of this problem that they were fully aware of. I know they say the 2 bulletins are not related but i feel that they are.
