• Recall 258334 [USA]: An air bag that deploys unintentionally during a crash can increase the risk of injury.
  Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2020-2022 pilot, accord, civic sedan, hr-v, odyssey, 2020 civic coupe, fit, 2021-2022 civic hatchback, 2021 civic type r, insight, 2020-2021 cr-v, cr-v hybrid, passport, ridgeline, accord hybrid, 2020 acura mdx, 2022 acura mdx, 2020-2022 acura rdx, and 2020-2021 acura tlx vehicles. The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, failing to suppress the air bag as intended.

• Recall 254330 [USA]: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2013-2023 honda accord, civic coupe, civic sedan, civic hatchback, civic type r, cr-v, hr-v, ridgeline, odyssey, acura ilx, mdx, mdx hybrid, rdx, rlx, tlx, 2019-2022 honda insight, passport, 2020 honda cr-v hybrid, 2018-2019 honda clarity phev, fit, and 2015-2020 honda accord hybrid, pilot, acura nsx vehicles. The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.
  dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed february 5, 2024.   Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2020-2022 cr-v hybrid vehicles. The 12-volt battery cable routed outside of the body frame is missing a fuse on the power circuit, which can allow the battery cable to short circuit or overheat during a crash.

• Recall 230823 [USA]: An unsecured child restraint system can increase the risk of injury during a crash.
  Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2021 accord sedan, accord hybrid, cr-v, ridgeline, 2022 insight and cr-v hybrid vehicles. The automatic locking retractor on the second-row center seat belt assembly may deactivate improperly, which can result in an unsecured child restraint system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 208, "occupant crash protection."

• Inadvertent automatic emergency braking investigation # EA24002

  On february 21, 2022, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened preliminary evaluation (pe22003) to assess reports of inadvertent activation of the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), an automatic emergency braking (aeb) system, in model year 2017-2019 honda cr-v and 2018-2019 honda accord vehicles.  the reports allege that activation of the aeb system occurs while driving with no apparent obstruction in the vehicles forward path, resulting in sudden vehicle deceleration. Honda indicated that they were aware of a total of x,xxx reports that may relate to the alleged defect. Honda provided analysis of the alleged defect and alleges that some customers possibly had an inadequate understanding of the cmbs and its limitations.  however, many consumer complaints allege that honda dealerships were unable to reproduce the condition or state that they were informed that this is considered normal cmbs operation. To date, odi has received a total of 1,294 consumer complaints of inadvertent activation of cmbs in 2017-2022 honda cr-v and 2018-2022 honda accord vehicles. A total of 31 complaints alleged a crash and 50 alleged an injury.  the total column in the failure report summary removes duplicate reports and shows the total number of reports with unique vins from all manufacturer, odi, and ewr data sources.  in some cases, there were multiple reports associated with a particular vehicle in which recurring failures were alleged.  in total, there were x,xxx reports, 93 injury incidents and 47 crashes involving vehicles with unique vins that may relate to the alleged defect. Pe22-003 has been upgraded to an engineering analysis to further assess the scope, frequency, and potential safety related consequences of the inadvertent aeb activations. The scope has been expanded to include assessment of model year 2020-2022 honda cr-v and accord vehicles.   Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072.Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.The petitioner asserts that hybrid and electric vehicles to which the standard does not apply should be found to contain a safety defect. In support of the petition, the petitioner includes findings contained in a bill introduced in the house of representatives in 2009, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2009, h.R. 734, 111th cong. (2009). A related bill, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2010, became law in january 2011 (pub. L. 111-373). The petitioner requests that nhtsa require all electric and hybrid vehicles comply with fmvss 141, regardless of production date.The defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition.The associated product list is not exhaustive and may contain vehicles that are equipped with pedestrian alert sounds.

The contact owns a 2021 honda cr-v. The contact stated she attempted to start the ignition but was having difficulty and was able to start on the fifth attempt. The contact stated shortly after while driving at 47 mph, when depressing on the brake pedal and the vehicle failed to stop and rear-end another vehicle but continued to accelerate and drive forward over the gully, sidewalk, and shopping center sidewalk/street. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle came to a stop on a pile of dirt. The air bags did not deploy. The contact did not sustain any injuries but did seek medical attempt due to her blood pressure was high. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The contact called the local dealer and was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repairs as of yet. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. First time driving in the dark since i bought the car in january last wednesday 3/10/2021. I live on a very dark street. When driving home the clearness of the windshield started to disappear until i could only see out of a small slit at the bottom f the windshield. It was as if a shade was being being pulled down. It didn't matter if i had the high beams on or not. I had a neighbor in the car and she saw the same thing. I took the car to the dealership on friday, 3/12/21and spoke to the salesman. He said he had never heard of this issue. I thought maybe the lights were out of alignment. The salesman took the car to service. I was also there. The service person said they never heard of the issue. He took the car to an area to check the alignment. He said they were fine. I explained the way the windshield darkened makes it very dangerous to drive at night. Since they had no idea what to do..They tried acid washing the windshield. It was during the day that i was at the dealership for this issue. Friday night, i went out at dark to see if the issue would happen again. And it did. As i was driving down the street the windshield turned dark again until there was only a small clear bottom section which was not easy to look thru...Thank heavens i was close to home. I hope you can help, i do not know what to do. I certainly don't want a new vehicle i can't drive at night.
