• Recall 888 [USA]: An occupant's head that contacts the a-pillar during a crash could experience an increased risk of a head injury as a result of this condition.
  Certain passenger vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 201, "occupant protection in interior impact." during testing, the 3-door hatchback exceeded the performance criterion in the standard midway along the length of the windshield support pillar (a-pillar).

• Recall 2047 [USA]: Moisture in the combustion chamber blowby gases may freeze inside the throttle body bore and throttle body idle speed control circuit resulting in the throttle valve not closing fully and a higher than normal idle speed when the accelerator pedal is released.
  Vehicle description: passenger vehicles equipped with 1.5 liter or 1.6 liter engines that were originally sold in or currently registered in the states of alaska, colorado, idaho, illinois, indiana, iowa, kansas, maine, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, montana, north dakota, nebraska, new hampshire, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, south dakota, vermont, wisconsin, and wyoming. While driving at a steady throttle opening for an extended period of time during extremely cold ambient temperatures (below approximately -5 degrees fahrenheit with high humidity), moisture in the combustion chamber blowby gases can freeze and block the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve and hose. If the pcv hose freezes, combustion chamber gases are forced through the breather hose into the air intake hose and then into the throttle body.
  dealers will install a new, relocated pcv hose and will additionally install a heated throttle body on the 2000-2001 accents equipped with 1.5 liter engines that were produced through january 31, 2001. • Recall 5519 [USA]: If the connection disengages, the windshield wipers are inoperative. inoperative windshield wipers can contribute to reduced visibility during inclement weather.
  Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. The protective rubber boot which covers the ball joint connection between the windshield wiper motor drive arm and the windshield wiper drag link can stick to the surface of the drive arm. If the rubber boot sticks and the wiper motor is turned on, binding of the interface between the drive arm and drag link results, causing the ball joint connection to disengage.
  dealers will replace the protective rubber boot and will lubricate the new protective rubber boot where it contacts the drive arm.

• Recall 2000113 [Canada]: Visual system
  Certain vehicles have an insufficient amount of lubrication between the windshield wiper motor drive arm pivot and the wiper linkage dust cover that may bind and cause the wiper linkage to separate from the windshield wiper motor. If this occurs the windshield wiper motor will still operate but the windshield wipers will not function. This condition can result in reduced driver visibility during inclement weather and a possible crash. Correction: dealers will replace the rubber boot (dust cover) which covers the ball joint connection and lubricate the new boot where it contacts the wiper arm.

• Recall 2000114 [Canada]: Fuel supply
  On certain vehicles, driving for extended periods in extremely cold ambient temperatures can cause moisture to freeze inside the throttle body idle speed control circuit and in the throttle body bore, resulting in a higher than normal engine idle speed, and the throttle valve not closing fully. This condition may result in reduced braking effectiveness on deceleration, which in turn could result in a vehicle crash. Correction: dealers will install a modified pcv hose and, on manual transmission equipped vehicles without air conditioning, install a condenser cover.

My cars fuel tank is now giving me problems. When i pull up to the pump get gas the car says its empty but when fueling the car constantly clicks saying its full. I have to keep taking the pump in and out of the car to reseal it then try again and again and most times again. When the gas attendants see what car i own and the trouble i have they say its a known issue with hyundai's in general and does not matter what model. It's very irritating when i can only get a few dollars at a time because it takes so much time. My brother is a mechanic and said he gets these all the time. There has to be more people complaining about this. Not sure if anyone else has this problem but i did research the database here and did not find any recalls regarding this issue. My wife was driving on the highway when the passenger side front wheel broke. The wheel broke along the bottom of all the holes in the rim. We replaced the rim. On 9/17/2011 the driver front side broke in the same way. *tt

The contact stated that the key was not in the ignition at the time of the failure. The contact entered the vehicle and attempted to insert the key into the ignition but to no avail. The contact then depressed the brakes and was able to simultaneously insert the key into the ignition to shut the engine off. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics or repairs. The manufacturer was contacted and a complaint was filed but no other assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 76,126. The manufacturer was then contacted and they advised him that he was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and a independent mechanic and they advised him that the windshield motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 181,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 hyundai accent. Almost two months after the transmission was replaced on the vehicle, the engine failed to start. All of the indicators on the instrument panel were illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and had the battery replaced; however, the failure persisted. She called the manager at the dealer where the transmission was replaced and was advised to make sure that the vehicle was fully in the park position. She placed the gear from park into drive and then back into the park gear. The engine was finally able to start. She believes this is a safety issue because she should not have to move her gears around numerous times to start the vehicle. The contact has an appointment with the dealer to have the vehicle inspected. The current and failure mileages were 84,000.

The wipers failed to operate. There was no warning prior to the failure. The dealer stated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign id number 00v096000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer;linkages), although the failures were identical. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 82,000 and current mileage was 84,000.

Both rear doors will not open from the outside. The handles are not working properly. They both failed during normal operation.. The left side child lock is engaged and will not work at all. This defect is a major safety hazard and the manufacture is refusing to accept it as a defect. *tr

On june 17 2008 at 445pm, my daughter was returning home from school in her 2000 hyundai onj the new york state thruway190 north,she was involved in a chain reaction accident,her car rearended a vehicle,and the impact totaled her car. The airbag didn't deploy she was injured bruising and whiplash,i called hyundai headquarters and asked if they wanted to inspect the vehicle to establish why the airbag did not deploy.
